A listing of common scenes and ideas that TVB uses way too many times in their series:

- There is a motorbike going at 500 miles an hour, and some rambo manages to catch up to it via running and saves the day.
- There are 10 people surrounding one cop, the cop manages to shoot them all down firing more than 6 bullets when the gun can only hold 6.
- Someone about to tell who a murderer is, his handphone rings and they forget about something that's so important, they end up dying and the series end up going on for another 10 episodes.
- Boy woos girl as a sort of revenge/con job, and to get back some bad debts. He swore that he afters her for revenge/con job, but ends up falling in love with her.
- Someone is reading a book with a photo of someone they have a crush on, when they move they drop the book and the photo comes out, and everyone knows who they have a crush on.
- They pick up shattered glass, and they HAVE to cut themselves, no matter what series it is, the man gets all worried and touches the finger.
- Someone falls down from a 20 storey building and survives.. Absolute bull-crap.
- Gets shot 100 times, still survives but is in "critical" situation and should be "paralysed" when they wake up... They end up fine and live happily ever after...
- The cops and robber encounters, they keep on missing each other and hitting walls etc. even when they're right in front of each other.
- Hero and heroine walks past each other or they are at the same place but unable to see each other; or they always missed by a second or were looking somewhere else even though they are on the same street but opposite side. Or block by a billboard... or on a escalator.
- When a main character dies and then some how they have a twin that looks exactly the same and then they pair up with him or her.
- The boy and girl are near the beach or somewhere cold. The girl shivers and the guy gives the girl his jacket.
- Explosions... main character always manage to jump just as a bomb or whatever explodes - always walk away with minor cuts and scars. What about the ears? wouldn't the loud "BANG" damage your hearing?
- Bad guy drives away in a Mercedes Benz and the cop in the taxi somehow catches up to the Mercedes Benz...
- Every time a couple are so close to getting together, another girl or events comes into play and they have to think about each other while going out with someone else.
- Rain... when it comes it comes... like pouring not drizzle to pouring when a guy and girl are walking.. .the girl always trips... "aiya! ho tong or!"
- 2 people hate each other in the beginning of the series and they love each other at the end. You can always predict who pairs up with who. I hate it when the guy and girl hated each other at first but then ended up together in the end. TVB should come up with new things instead of repeating these craps.
- When there is a chase in the alley, there are always trashes and sticks available to throw so the one being chased can get away.
- Girl slips/trips and the guy holds her right on time so the girl will like him ever since.
- When a guy and girl are about to get kiss, the phone rings, grandma comes into the room, or theres an event that happens which stops it. and then the girl or guy says "i shudn't be doing this" and goes away.
- A boy/girl has to leave and the other person is rushing to the airport on a taxi. When they reach the airport, they see the airplane fly above them.
- Shooting stars, HK couples(no matter ancient or modern) in tvb series are so lucky, everytime they are sitting by themselves they look up into the romantic night sky and what do they see? a shooting star, then they say "look at the shooting star!!, make a wish!!" (i in my entire 30 yrs of life has never seen a shooting star, maybe i should look up into the nite sky more or maybe i jis don't have dat lucky, or maybe they only appear when your with someone special.)
- A rich person(main character) gets tricked into losing all their money. Than that person starts all the way from the beginning with the help of lots of friends. After that the main character ends up with lots of money and is up against the person who stole all his/her money. In the end the main character wins.
- One of the main characters decides to suicide and they never do. They always move back at the last second or someone saves them.
- A guy impresses a girl by saying he'll wait somewhere and then saying "but gin but san" (never meet, never leave).
- Someone gets into an accident, their loved ones reach the hospital and sees the death bed where the sheets are covered over the head, and they started crying emotionally, then that someone comes out of nowhere and is not dead.
- there's a really important message to give to someone, he/she manages to talk to the person on the telephone but refuses to tell that person the information. Instead he/she wants to meet somewhere that night and ends up dying !! If they just tell them the info on the phone...we wouldn't have to go through the next 20 episodes of nonsense!
- In MOST TVB series, if the character falls off some hill/cliff/mountain and people can't find his/her body....he/she always comes back!!
- there are taxis everywhere and its sooo easy to flag down anywhere and anytime.
- the person do not die immediately when he is shot or stabbed many times..instead he still has so much strength to talk a whole lot of crap.
- Memory lost for one of the main characters, creating another 30 episodes for a sequel. The love story keeps dragging and dragging.
- The guy or girl is fixing a bandage and the other person is looking at them and they already fall for each other. That is so old, please try another one.
- The female character trips, almost falls, but the male character holds her, they stare at each other for like 10 minutes and fall in love with each other.
- The female character drops something, the male character helps her pick it up, the female character gets it back from him, their hands touch, then they both stare at each other's HANDS for god knows how long...
- Two or more girls will fall in love with the same guy, or vice versa. The unlucky ones will have to hide their love for that lucky S.O.B., until a confrontation reveals everything. The guy, of course, will be hiding behind an ajar door to listen intently.
- Common TVB ending: The whole cast gathers together, JUMPS, credits start rolling and the series calls it an end.
- Siblings dating each other's ex-es, or friends dating friend's ex-es.
- Long hospital scenes. A patient is in a coma for like 4 years. One day his/her lover visits, holds the patient's hands, says something sweet, and the patient comes back to life. A miracle.
- When someone is in a coma, and a sign of them becoming conscious again is the twitching of the fingers, usually right at the end of the episode!!
- Good cops tend to dodge ALL bullets. Even if the villains are shooting the cop with a machine gun, the cop rolls around the floor, jumps around, and lives.
- Never in the history of HK drama will the victim know that until the damages been done. TVB had been using this in almost every of its dramas.
- If we put all the scenes together in this post, we just wrote our own TVB series!!
