Anyone have any problem with the battery?

I've recently encountered this mess =.="

0% available (plugged in, charging)

So far the troubleshoot i've done is

1. shut down > take out battery > disconnect AC adapter > press power button 30-60secs > connect AC adapter > boot up > plug in battery

2. remove ac adapter & acpi compliant drivers > reinstall them

3. remove ac adapter & acpi compliant drivers > take out battery > plug them back in > reinstall drivers

4. shut down laptop > take out battery > disconnect ac adapter > press power button 30-60 secs > plug in battery > plug in ac adapter > and wait for the battery to charge (leaving it for 30 mins - 1hour

5. check my battery last fully charge status from cmd prompt (last charge at 43%) before battery depleted.

6. reinstall ATKacpi (which has nothing to do with this prob)

7. reinstall chipset (hopefully but still not helping)

before proceeding to my next troubleshoot, i came here since this is too much hassle =.="

I am about to;

1. disassemble and re-assemble my laptop (cleaning it along the way)

2. fresh install OS

of course just a month ago when i disassemble it for cleaning the fans and vents and also repasting thermal as usual. Coz it still detects the battery everytime i detach and re-attach it. i think no problem with the contacts between the batt and the mobo

i'll try that, but i did check with the cmd powercfg, seems like battery is fine. but i'll double check with hwinfo

i can live with even 60% with now it looks like 100% wear haha.

This started 2 weeks ago, but i only cared so much for battery since after i came back to Sabah for CNY coz here the blackouts occurrence are frequent (by frequent i'd say atleast once a day) and without battery the laptop just dies as if it's a desktop =.=" Which isn't good for the laptops health.

Damn, and i'm so far from asus service center. lol

yeah, infact today i think it's 3 times. And i thought while i'm gone they improved but nah everytime i came back they never fail to disappoint me. haha.

Nope i haven't reset the bios. I actually wanted to flash it to a higher version but since i can't use easyflash (requires 20%) i didn't do anything with the bios. Maybe i should?

well, i was thinking about that too but the thing is, the battery connector is party of the mobo theres no wire connecting to it, and if i miss any power cable this laptop won't turn on.

Probably resetting it would be the best option. I'll do it in the morning

Ok so i've reset CMOS (disassemble and clean it up once again)

Problem still persist. I think this is a faulty hardware. Thoughts?

Weird but i never touched bios, could it be the bios?

I check on hwinfo seems like the wear level is now at 58% (increased 1% without me using it?) definitely battery problem?

well contacts have been cleaned and the battery is still detected, power jack i think won't be a problem? coz i still can boot the laptop normally, most likely the battery

and i still haven't reset my damn bios =.=" pff.. was too damn busy hunting lion dance

1. Checking CPU/GPU temperature is essential, but it’s better to test it on games (have fun) instead of doing synthetic test (gpu/cpu benchmark). Take your own sweet time (within the 7 days grace period) and if something went amiss get one-to-one exchange from where you bought it.

2. Check all the common hardware parts that is being used normally (i.e. screens for dead pixel, speakers, keyboard keys, touch pad, rog button, card reads, keyboard backlit, fn keys, usb ports, hdmi/vga/mini display port, wifi and lan, headphone jack, dvd/blu-ray rom etc.) Do check the system info/hwinfo to see whether the specs are exactly as what you are paying for. Other than that run ram test (memtest86+); run it overnight and check results when you wake up in the morning

3. Bios, if there’s nothing wrong with it leave it running stock (there’s no need for an upgrade)

4. Update drivers as updates are usually meant for good things (most of the times) especially Graphic driver as it will support latest games.

5. Getting SSD? Perform clean install is recommended as it has lower chances of heading towards sleepless nights trying to fix. For win8 run disk optimization to trim drives, perform restart, turn of display and leave it til morning this is for system-wide SSD optimization (only after clean

haha yeah true2 . I was supposed to reset bios since last week. and i still havent done it yet! just wondering if i reset bios it will go back to 204 or keep the same 209(which i currently have)

did u check the health of your batt? just in case. use hwinfo64 or cmd prompt powercfg

nope, i clean install once i got my g-series way back then. too many bloatwares making it slow and stuff. I'm using kaspersky 2013.

i clean install windows 7. So i don't need to know which one to delete and most of the bloatware is never essential .

But i did make a recovery DVD for myself (the original win 7) in case i ran into some problems (which never happened yet)

75C seems good.. as long as its not above 90C, i don't know the arrangement of cpu/gpu and other things in the new G-series. But as for my old G55 it never have heating problem

ah did it show how many % last full charge? if i do my calculations ur battery health is at 35% so its worn at 65%

your ambient temperature(room) also plays part. Which g-series u using?

i see from the lelong link its 4GB GTX980M and from some other links (techhypermart) it shows 970M 3GB

Probably dota 2 is taxing the CPU more rather than the GPU. But nevertheless, CPU tend to have higher Temp compared to GPU

I would not be bothered to re-paste if the CPU temp doesn't reach 100C and GPU temp doesn't reach 85C.

But nevertheless it's up to the user itself.

dota 2 or dota 2 reborn? The new dota 2 reborn is using a new engine (source 2 engine) and the GUI is abit more heavy compared to dota 2. So i'm guessing it would be the new engine that is eating the CPU. But if ure using the old dota 2. Not so sure then

Ah. It's not me alone. My screen have that Red horizontal dead pixel on the screen as well.. It's on the right side. Heavy usage(rarely switch off my laptop and always have people using it either playing games/movies/work even if im not at home )

I might DIY to change the screen. Depends on my freetime. But still needs to get screen replacement. Maybe taobao?

I'll give a call to Asus SC later today or tomorrow for price quotation. Probably if i go to Asus SC i might aswell ask for daughter board repair/replacement (was too clever before ripped my g55 and i think damage the cable) and also my HDMI port is now not working. probably change mobo =.="

OMG i guess it's like a whole set of G55? minus dvd/hdd/ssd/ram/keyboard. Might aswell ask to change my speaker now got cracking sound =.="
