QUOTE(riku2replica @ Sep 3 2015, 12:10 PM) wai- what have you done? In that case probably you're better off with new laptop. Way back was too excited. repaste thermal. add/switch ram. remove dvd rom (put in caddy for more storage). Gatal tangan. So i ended up losing alot of screws (no problem), spoil daughter board cable or the port connecting to the mobo/hdmi don't know how spoil, maybe i was too rough? haha. Now screen got nice red line of dead pixel on the right side from top to bottom! I am already considering to buy a new lappy. but i spend too much on my car =.=" now have to wait for "donation". anyone wants to give me?

QUOTE(riku2replica @ Sep 3 2015, 01:38 PM) probably you may "have" pulled the LCD ribbon with "additional" force. to be exact, when i remove the ribbon i simple cabut the whole clip thing.. instead of just flip it up. I knew something was wrong when i completely cabut that ribbon clip~. Coz when i want put it back together, already lose. I think i broke something already~ (i show horns how i did~ he simply went )

QUOTE(riku2replica @ Sep 3 2015, 02:07 PM) that's ur mistake, the ribbon should be pull only the ribbon, the clip should be attached to the board. IINM, G56JR also has this ribbon before accessing motherboard. We only learn when we make mistake.. how i comfort myself. hahaha

Hey everyone! I was checking the thread, and saw the GX800. OMG the price tag!. The price i don't think is GST inclusive! More expensive than a basic Axia. Anyone here planning to buy? maybe horns This post has been edited by holloway: Aug 8 2016, 05:02 PM

QUOTE(horns @ Aug 9 2016, 01:46 AM) g55vw's parts are very rare at taobao tbh. it's better to get a new one. I wonder if i bring to laptop repair shop, if they can fix the clip and maybe check if the daughter board is still working. Since i only use it during the night, and laptop is still going strong. Tho i really wanted a new laptop, but a slim one for work purpose.

QUOTE(horns @ Aug 9 2016, 12:43 PM) right that daughter board thing. i still remember :/ yeah believe it or not, g55vw is still one of the laptops that i like a lot. it's true that the gpu aged so fast for gaming, but for home use, it's damn good. for slim models, maybe gl502vy if you wanna use it for gaming. for work purposes mainly, i prefer the older gl552vx, gl552vw, or g752vt with 960m (this is a 17.3"; can go up to 64gb ram). Yep. I blame myself for being too aggresive. Just tugged the clip =.=". So far for home use (occasionally played Dota 2) which the GPU is more than sufficient to handle the game. And mostly for entertainment and work from home only. I still didn't face any heating issue with the laptop after so many years (just need to repaste thermal once in a while) I prefer something smaller probably 14" or 13.3, it's more convenient to carry around. But it's nothing urgent btw

QUOTE(horns @ Aug 9 2016, 02:15 PM) haha; yeah for casual use and light gaming, it's hard to get a g55vw it overheated oh smaller ones, well i don't look for those sizes yet. too small for me. Haha, small is good enough for me. Emails and just some light msoffice stuff. BTW looking at your rig, it's getting more and more powerful
