Last time I got into an accident with my proton Suprima S hit the front car (Vios). The Vios driver suddenly brake because there was some idiot crossing over the road.
For the first time, the front panel 2 air bags deployed and save my head from hitting the steering. There was no shrapnel nor anything dangerous. So no, proton do not use Takata.
