Variable scale: HIGH-end Action Figure Club, V14
HT|Medi|EB|3A|etc|ModularPartsOnBaseBody (Collectibles)

Definition of this thread:

-Mostly comes in Box-set, bulid-up sets kits, or bashing individual articles/components.

-Highly articulated scaled figures (mimicking the possible articulation range of the real subject) with removable/customisable cloths/armour/weapons (but can be simplistic in design like Play Imaginative's Die-cast figures).

-At least with 14 articulation points of a normal humanoid figure (1head/2 arms/2legs): Neck, wrists, elbows, shoulder, waist, hips, knees, ankles.

-Armoured figure/vehicle may be included as well such as: Iron Man armours/Endo Skeletons: Terminators/RoboCop/3A Bots/Vehicles related to figures in the same-line/series as the 2 points above.

-Play Imaginative (Singapore origin) being a new player, is redefining the genera some-what, by producing Die-cast figures of humanoid characters (where clothing is the exterior shell of the body).... well it may fall within this or "the other thread".

-The trend being highly realistic head sculpt (wax muzium quality but miniturised) being used for the figures (with HT/EB/Kumik/CIAN/HeadPlay leading the way)

lol yeah. This hobby ain't getting any cheaper too.
Anyone getting the DOFP: Wolverine? It's so expensive for a barebones figure. Not sure if it'll sell well in Malaysia.
Almost all of the figures released have decreased in value. Except Mk42.

Easy money/release for HT..... same with Thor and Hawkeye (non winter/cold variant)... Joss Whedon is helping us to safe money for the even bigger "BIG GUY"

Most probably partial head/torso.... there's no need for a full Mk.43 figure... or just give a full articulated HB without Mk.43 display option.

Sold separately... unless HT wants to make it 2 in one... like Banner/Hulk.... or Groot/Rocket...

I'm gonna grab Thor if he's sleeveless as a non-exclusive. This Cap will also be my one and only. I love the suit. Mk 43, will most likely get it as well. Since I hated the abundance of gold in Mk 42.

Hulkbuster. Idk. It's too big, worth too much. Even if HT did make it, it'll probably be at RM2000+++++

Arriving June 2015. Hmm....it's either 3zero Robocop or HT Wolverine for me.
Kinda hard to decide. Not sure which I like better. lol

No attachment to Appleseed, so I don't think I'll get Briareos and Deunan. Just watched Alpha and didn't even bother looking for the animes lol.

Batteries utilised... like AG1... AG3 could be purchased from cheap china goods shops for around RM2 for a pack of 10 batteries.... These shops are many at least in Kota Kinabalu...

you could ask for help from people closer to your location...

replacing batteries is merely finding the batteries is sold at... usually button cell batt you can find at watch shop, or key /remote maker will have as well..

but if the Led is faulty.. replacing them is not so easy, as how to find the arm and head...?

unless you can find parts here and there ppl are selling...
but mostly are seen sold separate parts are from human figures with clothes..

Ive seen IM mark 5 body parts sold separately.. but warmachine, is kinda rare to get..

Iron Man 2: WarMachine's head is quite easy to repair... As the LED is actually in the neck.... Let me dig up an old post on modding the neck... which I'll post later...

Repairing arms......would require a more extreme disassembly...

My pics are lost.... but I'll use this & description:
Attached Image

The neck is basically 2 pieces glued together....

A simple way to pry it open is to use a a sharp nose pliers stick it into the bottom of the rubbery neck plug open the tip ends of the pliers, it should force the neck to split open with relative ease..

You could switch the LED... resolder the wires... replace the switch... etc...

I did a white LED replacement, direct it foward, added red filter

My pics are lost.... but I'll use this & description:
Attached Image

The neck is basically 2 pieces glued together....

A simple way to pry it open is to use a a sharp nose pliers stick it into the bottom of the rubbery neck plug open the tip ends of the pliers, it should force the neck to split open with relative ease..

You could switch the LED... resolder the wires... replace the switch... etc...

I did a white LED replacement, direct it foward, added red filter

replacing batteries is merely finding the batteries is sold at... usually button cell batt you can find at watch shop, or key /remote maker will have as well..

but if the Led is faulty.. replacing them is not so easy, as how to find the arm and head...?

unless you can find parts here and there ppl are selling...
but mostly are seen sold separate parts are from human figures with clothes..

Ive seen IM mark 5 body parts sold separately.. but warmachine, is kinda rare to get..

Just go Mr. DIY, lots of button batteries, comes in whole stripe & cheap too.

Briaroreas for rm648 not cheap enough? He is bigger size than normal figure, and still cheaper than many HT figures. Too bad no lights on his eyes.

For something that requires no likenesses rights, and a human face sculpt, yeah it's pretty expensive. But I guess when they need to sculpt a new body for him, it gets the price at a pretty comfortable point.

DOFP Wolverine at RM708, however, is absolutely ridiculous.

648 is expensive for me. price range should be RM 560- 580. nothing special except the head & upper body.
maybe toy & figure getting expensive bcos of the cost of production??

just remove the clothes, see which part broken, open up the screw, if broken parts use super glue glue back, if cannot screw back, just use a longer screw and screw over the plastic, depend how tight you want the joint to be.

which rider? some comes with sealed suit, some has plastic armor outside. and if it's wearing those leather type suit and already few years old chances of cracks is high when you try to take it off as they already start to decompose. usually removing the head makes it easier and fold the arms so you can remove the suit with minimal movement.

Sorry, looks like he has 1 piece chest armor.

You can refer to this:

http://imtoyscollector.blogspot.com/2011/0...hest-armor.html

You have to cut an opening to remove it, best way is use a really sharp & thin hobby knife & find a seamline preferable at the sides to make the cut less noticeable, i don't know which type of inner suit he uses, might have a zip to open up, might not have, try to see before deciding whether to fix it. Then glue the armor it back carefully, heating the armor up with hairdryer might help ease the removal but it might also damage the suit.

it might be better to use a better body replacement like HT True Type, but the neck joint might require some modification.

http://littlekidinme.blogspot.fr/2009/08/m...ked-bodies.html

some medicoms has their whole tight suit sealed off so the only way is to cut it open where the sewing lines are. really a pain.

HT True Type is bigger than medicon. not suitable for armor type rider.

how did you remove the chest armor in the 1st place without cutting it open?

I think the main problem using HT would be for those having arm/leg armors. i think if you heat up the armor it'd be easier to fit.

So far HB is pretty solid. No issues on first release. Everyone pretty much loves him. Though he doesn't sell so well since he's one of the most barebones figure we got from IM series. And he's expensive too.

im in no rush.. the PO went over a year, as long as they secure my unit.
Not like PO but then shop didnt deliver since shortage or forgot to order.. then probably become victim buying at released higher price.

If theres issue in 1st released.. there would be time for hottoys to rectify...

most likely hb dont have any issue... just like Centurion.. color fade wise, cant say yet

Yeah, but looking at the accessories and what we're getting with HB and SC, SC is clearly the better deal. It's price point is justified when some BD parts are included and a Tony Stark headsculpt is also in the mix.

HB only comes with the hands. People could say that maybe HB wouldn't have anything else to come with it, but the price point just doesn't justify it.

It should've been lower at $200 and below.

HB should price around RM500-600, as it is only a "Robot" outlook, no headsculpt and no special accessories. with this plain figure price at RM670, it is same price as Mark 7 PO price. for me it is not worth to get it as it appear on the screen not more than 10 seconds.

My first PO was Man of Steel Supes, and prior to that it was all secondary market. Noobs have it so hard. Prices rising, and abundance in new pieces. HT don't make them as limited as they once were. Damn. When is my HB gonna be here? D:

My thinking was like you previously biggrin.gif
It depends on the purpose and intention for you to collect figures.

As I see from mark 1 till mark 7, 7 having the design i like most.
so there is no point for me to collect other red iron man suit.
And after seeing the future plan of Marvel, iron man still got quite a number of suit coming out (in civil war and avengers 3), and i think the suit design would be more and more attractive!

also HT technology would get better in future~ i believe so~

anyway, for avengers I won't get all (I don't have a money printer at home cry.gif )
mainly i will see on Ultron (main and drone version), and also black widow (plan to get a girl figure in HT, seeing the avengers version is not bad).

Or maybe I will see how's Ada Wong looks in resident evil 6 figure.

Just 15 characters from here, I think. Since they used the SS4 Ryu as a base.
If we're getting Akuma, I want Gouken. But damn it, I think the most interesting character to be done would be Vega. Would love to see how they'd pull off the mask/unmasked sculpt and long hair.

centurion around 680-730 PO / released shelf price.. even exclusive version with extra 42 helmet cant go too high since centurion can still get from various sellers.
bats armory 1100+

assuming bats armory gets everything including the bats figure.. and top up below 300.. id say its fair..

Btw, the dots on SC really helps with bringing out the realism in the figure. Idk. If you guys like having clean paints and no scuffs, it'd just be a bit too toyish. And doesn't translate well as a High End Scaled Model.

The name “Boba Fett” is no stranger to all Star Wars fans. With his customized Mandalorian armor, deadly weaponry, and silent demeanor, Boba Fett was one of the most feared bounty hunters in the galaxy. Following the introduction of Hot Toys’ Star Wars 1/6th scale collectible figures, today we are very excited to officially reveal Boba Fett as the first collectible figure of Hot Toys’ Star Wars 1/4th scale collectible series!

I have been waiting forever for a good RDJ headsculpt. Will definitely buy the set if the price is awesome. Or else, I'll just wait for someone to break down the figure, and get the headsculpt alone.

Same with me...
Mark 43 for me looks not so good as Mark 42. I still like the original gold plated look.

I will wait and see Mark 45 as rumored.
for HulkBuster, still KIV, but mostly will skip. too bulky. I not prefer my toy would take out too much space.

Main aim on Ultron, see how is the outlook as I prefer those heavy metal robotic figure.
also will wait for black widow, hopefully will be my first HT female figure.

SciFi centric.....

Disney centric.... the biggest license being starwars & marvel studios..
Disney has 3 big ones 2015. Multiple figures from episode 4-6...

Everything else is probably one figure per movie.... rehasing some predators

WarnerBros/DC has nothing till 2016

the problem to order at sideshow is you need to find a way to import back to Malaysia. This may cost you another extra cost for that. doh.gif

If u ask the shop they will say the same thing. They will be taxed and have to pay for the shipping. It would be cheaper if u post it to your house.

My instinct tell me that 43 is just a starter from iron man wave of Avengers 2.
I think more exciting ironman figure is yet to come.

I suppose you mean weird.... not wired...

From my POV.... it's the best most "movie-like" but yet articulated IM figure to date...

There the 1/4 scale Play Imaginative "die-cast" Mk.42 to compare to...... ever delayed (not released yet, I think)

but the one i not really understand was why both 1/6 and 1/4, the arc reactor parts remain blank? It doesn't seems like any design there. just white.

Because it's was always ChestRT rather than ArcReactor.... And now Ironically with the ArcReactor removed from Tony's chest.... there may actually be an implementation of ArcReactor in the ChestRT, and HT choose to remove the details.... HT should still implement the RT details....

if you just start to collect ironman figure, this is a good choice for you since is diecast material and also a big improvement compare to the old version.

Price is ok since it come with a Tony HS, so, is a good choice for you.

Happy collecting anyway thumbup.gif thumbup.gif

yes you can, but MARK 3 is one of the iconic suit for ironman, if me i would pick this up 1st for collection.

for those latest model, no worry as it will always be a newer suit until avenger 3, you can choose your favorite one later. thumbup.gif

If you can wait, i think you can get mk 42 below po price later when MK 43 release brows.gif

As far I know, xl shop if you walk in just need to pay 20-30% deposit only, where you from? If from kl there's various of choices. Xl-shop, shioktoys, big bang toy and many others. most of my item came from bigbangtoy. icon_rolleyes.gif

For figure, just play with care then should not be a problem, if scare of stretches or broken things then just consider status. laugh.gif

Anyone notice that Mark 43 Chest Piece (Arc Reactor) has no design inside and is like flat surface, unlike Mark 42 which has triangle shape inside.

somemore they are sensitive to heat, too hot the metal expands and when they contract back you see bubbles. better apply carwax on them. test 1st to make sure they don't wipe out the paint coat.

yes if you are a frequent/ regular buyer at such shops and you dont hv time or like to window shop what you want..
but the points converts to discount is actually very little... thats a marketing strategy to keep customers coming back..
In my book Toypanic gets a plus on free delivery even though its not a courier..

If you are the type who likes to do price comparing between shops online/physical, there are better deals sometimes..

just a precaution.. so that you'd take extra care when moving the figures part..
especially try avoid parts rubbing/knocking each other when u r trying to pose..

id recommend having a cloth for you to put the figure on while you figure out to move which part and how to pose... or you can use the cloth to put under the part u r moving.. like moving the arm, put cloth under the arm pit to avoid rubbing..

usually ppl are careful at moving the parts of the figure to avoid scratching.. but overlook when they are putting it lying down on the table/bumping the feet with the table surface while doing a pose.. sooner or later realized there are chips, scratch, scrape that happens while we are handling it...

gst is suppose to replace sales & service tax..

if you PO something at 1000 before gst, shop r not suppose to add another 6% to the 1000 after gst is implemented..

they are suppose to adjust it.. 1000 minus SST 10% then add 6%...

but most likely many will abuse this and charge current price which include SST.. and then when item released when gst is implemented add GST somemore..

so you are paying both tax..

Yup, Toypanic I try before, very well service and friendly owner, and their rapping is good and well protect to the item.

But, let's say you buy hot toys, that's few hundred rm collection, I more prefer to walk in and check carefully on the item itself rather than postage.

Shioktoys I also try before, I walk in and collect my ht, they got friendly staff also. So you might just choose which shop you prefer. rclxms.gif

Physical shops rarely can match online price, and most physical shops sell online too. FB/Ebay/Webstore/Garage Sales.

Online shop they have to be competitive becoz too easy to compare price, physical shop they know harder to compare price and many impulse buyers, unless you really slick good at negotiating.

i play metal robots the only reason you wear a glove is not to leave grease on the surface. but i never do that because glove makes it easy to slip out of hand.

just see carefully and move it slowly should be no problem.

You can always request them to inspect for you, give them authority to open up the packaging or look at the window to see what type of concerns you have.

Most shops let you do that, but don't be ultra picky with minor things.

Some items aren't subject to tax, but having GST means everything has to add in the tax.

“I find your lack of faith disturbing.”

Darth Vader is one of the most iconic characters in the Star Wars saga and has frequently been regarded as one of the greatest villains in cinema history. Following the release of “The Circle is Now Complete’ teaser earlier last month, Star Wars fans have already been eagerly waiting for the official reveal of the Sith Lord!

And now Hot Toys is welcoming fans to the dark side and officially introduce the highly-detailed and amazingly-crafted Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope: 1/6th scale Darth Vader Collectible Figure complete with the Sith Lord’s iconic breathing sound effects and LED lighted functions!

The movie-accurate collectible figure is specially crafted based on the image of Darth Vader in Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope! It features a sophisticatedly-crafted Darth Vader armor and helmet, specially tailored suit, built-in sound effect function with Darth Vader’s breathing sound, LED-lighted lightsaber and belt, a finely-made Interrogator Droid, and a specially designed figure stand.

Embrace the dark side and add the infamous Dark Lord of the Sith to your Star Wars collection!

depend on what type of figures you buy, if ironman, light function, scratches or not, all the joint is good, if others, check joint, clothes etc..

you may also search online what's the common problem for the model you buy.

You know when a figure was meant for you when your hitting the preorder now button because your heart is beating a million miles and hour hearing sunshines and randows lollipops playing in your head.

thanks bro.. is the hottie mk42.
When I buy from subsale and the seller claim that BIB,MIB or MISB but then the fact is they always say they have to open the box to check whether is there any wrong for the items.
so whether BIB, MIB or MISB, to me, those items should be already opened or maybe some of them already displayed there in the glass shelf for some times...
lesson learnt, next time should get PO or direct from shop instead of from online sub-seller or collector. doh.gif

Don't feel sad bro, there's still many honest seller, sometime really depend on what seller you meet, yes PO is better choice if you like the figures, if i buy subsales i will choose BIB with good condition, so you might get better offer.

So did you PO the diecast MARK III brows.gif

In Star Wars episode A New Hope, Vader didn't review his true face and also didn't get damaged in battle...so it would inappropriate to make it like that. The Sideshow version reflects the episode ROTJ where he actually took the helmet off and also got his hand cut off (exclusive version has the extra amputated hand). HT and SS had to follow the movies

We better be prepared financially...haha.

Dear all,

Back in 2008, Hot Toys presented the first Hot Angel, the She Predator Machiko, which was well-received by fans and collectors!

Today, we are very excited to let you all know that we have been collaborating with a known Hong Kong designer for some time to bring you a new Hot Angel collectible figure and we are happy to share a backstage sneak peek with everyone on the progress of this amazing new original female character inspired by the aliens from Alien vs. Predator.

Enjoy!

I am interested in this spidey-2 too, but people in a Hong Kong Forum said that the head/suit turned black after some period. Anyone owns it suffering the same problem?

thats a diecast series.. such wear will happen if you r not super careful when moving the parts...

afaik mark42 does not come with scuff/wear effects.. it should be a clean fresh looking suit..
but its used, price under released price.. its fair as its minor...
if you r worried about paint chip n scratch.. you cld try non diecast like siver centurion & Heart Breaker.. im sure they are more fun to pose with least worries of scratch/paint chip..

most panel lines can be wiped off with alcohol wipes, just make sure it won't affect other paints.

I'm loving that Lu Bu figure, but god damn it's so expensive. Especially with the dragon diorama. The armor and everything is uber intricate though. So awesome. I would probably get him once released.

Hot Toys is expanding its product line yet again to bring more diversity to fans, and today we are very excited to present the new Artist Mix Collection series! As the name suggests, Hot Toys will collaborate with different artists and designers from various spectrums to re-imagine movie characters in a special art form with unique style.

To kick-off the Artist Mix Collection, Hot Toys is joining hands with famous Japanese toy artist Touma* and introducing a number of Artist Mix Figures based on one of the biggest movies of 2015 - Marvel’s Avengers: Age of Ultron!

This first series will include Iron Man Mark XLIII, Captain America, Hulkbuster, Ultron Prime, and two versions of Ultron Sentry! Each Artist Mix Figure has a bobble-head and stands approximately 14cm tall (Hulkbuster stands approximately 20cm tall) and perfectly combines the movie characters’ designs with Touma’s distinctive art style!

In celebrating the launch of this new collectible series, a deluxe set will be available that includes the powerful Hulkbuster and Mark XLIII (Battle Damaged Version) which is exclusive to this figures set.

These Artist Mix Figures will look great on your shelves or desk, so don’t miss the chance to expand your Marvel’s Avengers: Age of Ultron collection!

*More about Touma:
Touma is a Japanese toys character designer. He started his career at a video game company 10 years ago. In 2001, he established his own workshop and started to become a figurine artist. He had his solo exhibitions and autograph sessions not only in Japan, but also in Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore and America. He collaborated with many major brands such as MONSTER HUNTER, STAR WARS, TRANSFORMERS, AVP, GODZILLA, POWER RANGERS, and more.

Recently, Touma and his 3D animation partner Shiroma collaborated with Hot Toys for the first time to ignite the Artist Mix Collection series to further expand the diversity of mini figures collection. The series is based on the 2015 Marvel Studios blockbuster, Avengers: Age of Ultron, which perfectly blends the iconic characters with Touma’s unique design style.

is it safe to say Hot Toys will be releasing revisions of the entire team (from Avengers movie 1) for Avengers Age Of Ultron?

I'm very very tempted to jump on the wagon for the figures from the 2nd movie, i believe the first 2 (Mk43 and Capt America) are still in PO stage and none has been released yet

Nah, don't PO. In fact, I recommend everyone to stop PO-ing. Give the figures 2-3 months after release, and they will reduce in price. ALL of the figures released since the past year are now below retail. And you would be able to read reviews before deciding whether to buy or not. Stores in Malaysia puts a Non-Returnable Deposit policy, which is troubling in case the figure once released is not as expected.

From my survey, I didn't notice any HT price getting cheaper. I would be most grateful if you can share with us which shop has cheaper HT for sale.

If you keep buying from shops ONLY, then you're pretty much never gonna see any reduction in prices. These are the range of prices I've seen for BIB, MIB, & MISB.
Let me know where you conduct your survey, because mine is pretty much from secondary markets.

TDW Thor - RM450-550
MoS Supes - RM350-500
Mk 42 - RM750-850
IP - RM700-850
WM Mk2 - RM650-800
Mk 33 - RM500-650
HB - RM550-700
Tonto - RM400-600
DX06 - RM450-650
DX12 - RM680-850

Of course there are more rarer figures out there, but not a lot that came out in 2014 had raised in price. It is undeniable that HT is making more of these figures. It is no longer kept to a limited run of 2500+
I reckon it'll be at least 4000-8000 units per figure now. Look at XL shop, and you can see that there is still an abundant supply of HT figs.

I got my first mk42 from after market beginning this year.
That time I didn't really know what are BIB, MISB and MIB.
so unfortunately mine was BIB, so abit regret to buy it even though is cheaper.
To me again, BIB is most likely 2nd hand. don't know how gentle is the first owner handling the toy, and definitely there are some scratches.
Seriously, it is very hard to find MISB with cheap price. unless the seller is owning the toy shop. bcos if just a normal collector, he/she sure will open the box to check the toy conditions. after check, display it or play it for few months then put back in box - so called BIB doh.gif
If u want flawless, PO or buy from shop still the best choice although they charge premium. my 2 cents. rolleyes.gif

lol you obviously haven't been in the specific figure threads in SSC, OSW, and FB. There are a ton of figures that come with defects. And then you'll have to go through all the hassle of reporting, returning, more waiting.
BIB, MISB, MIB don't matter if you're gonna open it anyways. If you're gonna buy these for investments, then don't. There are plenty others who deserve the figures more than you do. BIB IS second hand. There's no doubt about it. But it is not the seller's responsibility to give you all the details. You yourself should be asking the questions and demanding pictures. And they should oblige nonetheless.

Cheap MISB stuff are easily obtained. Have you guys really never lurk around FB for figures?

“There are no strings on me.”

Since the first official release of Marvel’s Avengers: Age of Ultron trailer, the film’s titular villain Ultron’s menacing appearance and memorable speech has grabbed many fans’ attention and left wondering how the Earth’s mightiest heroes can stand up against this highly dangerous robot and its large army.

With the epic blockbuster just few short months away from hitting theatres worldwide, Hot Toys is very excited to “show you something beautiful” today, the 1/6th scale Ultron Prime Collectible Figure, that many fans and collectors have eagerly awaited to see!

The movie-accurate Collectible Figure is specially crafted based on the image of Ultron Prime in Avengers: Age of Ultron. It stands approximately 41 cm tall, featuring a newly developed head sculpt and body with mechanical details, LED light-up head and upper body, and a specially designed Avengers: Age of Ultron logo figure base with LED light-up function!

This threatening villain will have great presence in your Avengers: Age of Ultron collection!

Nah, the figure is friggin huge man. 15.5" and 525 individually engineered components. They're not reusing shit. They're making the figure from scratch. So I guess you could justify that price tag. And besides, Starcraft licenses for figures are few and rare.

Hulkbuster yeah? iirc, they stated that 2600 is INCLUSIVE of GST. At least that's what Toypanic have surely stated, and that's the same price as XL, at 2600. If deposit, it'd be 2648 at toypanic. But with the reward points they offer, you knock off RM26.48*2 = RM52.96

Not bad. Just pay 20%

Okay, I think that's about it, as time limited and I would not like to pass 12 midnight.

Conclusion of this figure:

This figure is 1/6 Bride killer 2.0 from Play Toy, as I missed the first version, so I would not like to miss this one.

As when I get this figure, I was giving it a very low expectation, because I will not set this figure as higher standard compare to hot toys and enterbay.

So below was the Cons & Pros

Sorry Play Toy, I always focus on bad things before I play the toy, hahaha whistling.gif

Cons:
1. Need a stand to pose this figure.
2. Joints are cheap, so play carefully.
3. Not really attention to details compare to Hot toys and Enterbay, anyway I don't even care, because I had low expectation on this figure. whistling.gif

Pro:
1. This figure very pose-able, despite the tide suits / cloths, no problem thumbup.gif
2. Sword is well made, die-cast, love it!

Lastly I played with it, I like it, that's all I wanna said, overall this is a good figure. Happy Chap Goh Mei to all the collectors over here!
Happy Collecting and Signing off....
