so sad that my ST50 had to go, panasonic will be replacing me with LEDTV instead since they already quit plasma business. Technician mentioned it will be AS700 replacement. I freaking love this plasma  cry.gif

on the other hand, the technician opened the back panel and i had the chance to snap some pics.
All caps used are Rubycon  thumbup.gif

Many thanks to our legendary Anfieldude for an exceptional job on my inaugural hdtv calibration.  notworthy.gif I kind of feel bad I didn't prepare some cakes or desserts for this 4 hour calibration.

If you guys remember my story on v4 thread the technician mentioned will replace my 50ST50 with LEDTV AS700 but somehow Panasonic managed to find panel replacement. This is my 2nd time panel replacement.

Original unit 1st panel batch dated August 2012
2nd panel batch August 2013
3rd replacement batch Dec 2013

My guess probably this is last and final batch.

What i'm happy about - Yay still plasma not LEDTV replacement!
What i'm worried about - Doubtful if the vertical line issue will appear again  sad.gif Official warranty ending May2015, after that is insurance extended warranty.
*
mine warranty be end march 2015.

invest a surge protector or line filter may help. wish u and plasma have a long journey to come

Looks like only display set available and no bnib set. Sigh... Should have grab one last year. Looks like led is inevitable. Hear the new pana ax800 or 900 offers plasma-que PQ.
*
hopes so, plasma pq is high challenge.

i just give st50 a power line heavvy filter again, this time i can use ifc highest setting without motion judder or fast forward.
almost perfect 24hz to 60hz. Old video are worth to re-watch again becos i have missed out a lot frame skipped from ifc off or mid setting

deeper black is produced. i dont even need to add sharpness (value 0). All the small details are appear by itself.

btw, mine is not calibrated set.

HI, I just got my 42AS610K. Seems like it causes inconvenience to me. It replaces my previous plasma tv.

Firstly, this smart tv claims that it can do screen mirroring. As soon as i got this tv, i try to do mirroring with my Samsung Note 2. In the end, it fails due to hardware issue. I ask the technician and the technician also not sure about it.

Secondly, this tv doesn't has a vga port. So i bought vga hdmi converter from Lazada so that my pc can connect to this tv (as my monitor). However, once i connect it to the tv, the screen is black! Hm...i call Lazada to ask whether the converter is not functioning, they told me that i need to configure the setting of the resolution. Is it true?? cos my previous plasma viera tv can auto detect it without doing any resolution configuration.

Anyone has any idea / solutions on my 2 issues?
*
usually cheap one is hdmi to vga, cannot do reverse way.

Hi, i would like to ans the recent owner of panasonic ips led tv. according to one salesman, their recent ips led is not the same as previous. the view angle not so promising and also the brightness of the panel is darker than previous.

anyone know about this?
*
all ips panels are able to perform 178/178 degree view angle. the problem is NOT all panasonic come with ips lo.
what u can try is swipe finger in front of screen to verify it.
brightness test in showroom is not very useful, factory settings are inconsistence from batch to batch.

also u will notice certain panel cutting size only exclusive to ips (40 vs 42, 46 vs 47 etc..)

Which current models use the VA panels? Am looking for a 50 inch.
My ST50 is pretty much dead, and am waiting for Panasonic to revert with their proposed replacement set.
TIA.
*
see samsung size, then go back panasonic see the same size. Big chance is pva panel.

use finger to swipe to confirm

Saw the  AX670K models. Pretty decent.  They're 4k models, but am not enthused about the hype, as long as I get decent black levels. What is supposed to happen when you swipe the screen?
*
swipe the screen, the liquid will be spread away and recover quickly. thats IPS panel characteristic.

if slowly recover, leave grey trail is VA panel.

I see. I just checked the specs..it's "4K ULTRA HD LED LCD" panel, so neither IPS nor VA?
*
its never written in specs for certain reasons ( production batch, diff region, etc..)
Have to check out in shop.
but pana has been using ips-alpha for long time, not sure they continue or not.
if the tv is using va panel, also got 3 type. Asv, mva and pva.
asv is found in sharp cutting size.
mva is manufacture for lower cost (attractive price). A bit strange cutting size.
pva is found in samsung cutting size.

there is new type of panel already released in market, samsung pls (ips varient, same characteristic)

the price of panasonic  led tv is usually more expnesive than other tv . Why is it so ? becoz of the IPS panel???
*
certain model nit ips.
see the cutting size will know

QUOTE(delsoo @ May 17 2015, 08:32 PM)
why need to use the finger to swipe the screen ? haha . But , AFAIK , most of the panasonic tv use IPS panel , right ?
*

QUOTE(g88 @ May 17 2015, 08:52 PM)
my personal prefer for best colour tones would be Panasonic (maybe they adopted Pioneer's technology...2nd would be Sony...LG color seem getting better than Samsung for LED...
*
need a bit adjustment then it would be perfect

QUOTE(delsoo @ May 17 2015, 11:16 PM)
wow , glad to hear that . I 'm a proud owner of panasonic 42 inch led tv here.. rclxms.gif
AFAIK, LG also adopt IPS panel for their tv , right ?
Sony didnt use IPS panel , i'm not sure what panel did SONY use , but SONY always win at colour reproduction....
*
42 inch confirm ips cutting size.
lg is largest ips panel manufacturer.

sony mix ips and pva depending on prices. close relationship with samsung.

Hooked up my plasma TH-P50V20K to my DLink router via cable (my PC to the router).

Cannot get my PC display on the TV.

Tried this and that from web tips and still no success.

I thought it is plug and play, guess no.

Appreciate help from those who have set up PC-router-TV via cables.

Many thanks.

P/S I have tried HDMI from laptop to TV, success. But I want the cable set up from my PC.

V20 dont support video from router lan cable
