Don't be fool, iPad Air 1 is Apple Flagship Tablet of 2013.

iPad Air 1 vs iPad Air 2
A7 vs A8X
12x CPU Performance + 180x GPU Performance increased only.

You not gonna Play 60FPS Dota 2 on your iPad Air 2 anyway. The only that we concern about the Air 2 is the RAM got increase to 1GB to 2GB yet to be confirm.

A7 is using in iPhone 5S (2013), iPad mini Retina (2013) as well.

I am going to iPAD AIR 2, because currently dont have my own personal iPAd yet... Next is the 6.1mm design, Touch ID, improving camera (Easy to do notes on class) XD tongue.gif
So back to your question, iPad Air 1 is still a very good tablet rclxms.gif

Performance are same because using the same A7 Processors. In terms of choosing Air 1 and Mini 2 is about the Size and Screen Color Accuracy only.

If you want bigger iPad, then its wise to wait.

Price drop only RM300++ but in terms of performance, Air2 is at least 2.5x faster according to Apple. You also get Touch ID, 8MP camera, barometer, 6.1mm thickness and lighter.

Which is why the RM300 more is worth paying. If you compare Mini2 and Mini3, then the extra is not worth paying because just add Touch ID.

Mini1 is really slow la... since I also got an iPad2.

QUOTE
Apple claims that the A8X processor is its second generation 64-bit chip with three billion transistors. The CPU performance is 40 percent faster compared to the A7 that was released last year and its GPU performance is 2.5 times faster than the A7. Compared to the processor in the original iPad, the iPad Air 2 is 12 times faster in its CPU and has 180 times better graphics performance.

I'm gonna go get an iPad Air 1 coz I only use it for browsing and emails, so now that the iPad Air is cheaper, it also means accessories are cheaper and I don't think it's outdated considering how the 1st gen of ipad mini is still around, heh heh...

The best part about the price drop is that many sellers in our Garage Sale forum still selling so expensive, maybe they didn't realise about the price drop, hehe

If u dun have ipad, better wait abit to get an ipad air 2/ipad mini 3. If you have an ipad air or mini 2 already, I dun think its worth the upgrade.

It's a great tablet and I don't think it's outdated yet. Maybe you will see some slowdown after a few more iOS updates, iOS 10/11 maybe ? But that will take years, so.....

ipad 2 is legandary. Ipad 4 owner lucks' may not be good. nexus 10 launched 2 years back and it's still kicking ass as long android is able to optimize the hardware capability

ps: i am not a fan of android nor iOS, but i'm really looking into the new ipad air 2 now with its recent bump of 2GB ram

in general computing, the ability and the capability to multitask apps lies on the RAM and it's upper cache.... the ipad hardware bottleneck is actually the RAM, so does the iphone 6 and 6+. i can foresee that apple is now playing the game as android does 2 years back icon_idea.gif

iPad 2 is a 3 year old device anyway, and has supported iOS 4-8.1. Started to suck on iOS 7 tho.

If we take that as an example, iPad Air 1 will do the same on iOS 10.

i bet it will suffer the same thing in iOS9 as ipad 2 did in iOS7

ipad 2 is still best in iOS6, although it's still workable on iOS7

If u r new to iPad, just wait for the Air 2. It is always good to go for the latest. If u already hv an Air, i don't think the upgrade is worth the money spent. Unless u really have to have the ALL the latest iGadgets.

I'm currently using the iPad Air 1, and I use it daily at office, site, work, home, and play; I upgraded from iPad 2 @ Feb 2014. I don't see me upgrading my Air, unless the change is significant. Then again, it is up to you to decide what u need, what is a 'significant' upgrade. Some might feel the TouchID alone warrants an upgrade. wink.gif

hi

I had upgrade from iPad 3 to iPad Air 1. The mistake I do is upgrade my iPad 3 ios 6 to ios 7 , then it got lag or the application will crash. If I'm not upgrade the ios maybe I'm still using my iPad 3 today.

now I'm satisfy with my iPad Air 1 , with retina display better than iPad 3 . I WONT UPGRADE TO IOS 8 or latest ios even if the latest ios has a feature speak to on your iPad smile.gif

Speaking about RAM, I had read more RAM more battery required. Why bother to open so many application while you still using only one application at one time right. Apple ios or os has a different way using RAM compare to Android.

I have a friend still using iPad 1 today. Still No problem smile.gif

Dun worry iPad Air 1 is running iOS 8 without problems. My iPad Air 1 is on 8.1 without any problems. In fact i think iPad Air 1 should be running fine till iOS10 (if applicable)
