Usually apple online store pre order begins a week before launch date. I am getting mine from online store tool. No contract for me and no need queue at the reseller too.
*
Apple online store availability same as country release date like last year 5s on 1 Nov same as telcos. But you ll get it later compared to day 1 for telcos..store usually have 2-3 weeks delivery time (6/6+ probably will be longer as Tim Cook said yesterday demand way outstrips their supply this year - mother of all upgrades indeed)

I also wan to buy without contract. Is it better to buy from telco or from machines? Any difference in terms of warranty?
*
I always buy iPhone with maxis maximum 24-month contract because I don't want to pay the sky high full retail price and I be needing their plan anyway monthly and no time to research and jump telcos ship all the time. Since I have 2 lines, I would just swap each every year to eligible for the maximum 24 months discount.

So, unless you have some more affordable data package somewhere else and you the kind who like to constantly seek out better data plans from other telcos or money is a non issue to you, signing up a plan makes more dollar sense. Maxis though not perfect been ok and reliable for me for the last 10+ years.

Maxis warranty (other telcos don't know) very good so far for me, one to one change after weeks of use at their convenient TTDI service center. (Eg. My 5S camera issue, no questions asked just see sample photos then changed instantly). Online store I have no experience maybe takes awhile to ship etc. maybe some had done so can share their experience here.

thinking to get a 16G iphone 6, just use it for checking email, surf internet, whatsapps, facetime, on&off take some photos/video, do you thinks enough?
*
If you seldom take video should be enough. But it will be hassle whenever there is a software OTA update, will not be enough even if the update is just 100mb because the phone need to save the user data hence requires multiple Gigs. So need to plug and update via iTunes.

Seriously i hope the price is not true. According to 5s price,  64gb price of iphone 6 should be the same as 32gb 5s.i just check n compare launch price between those 2.

The last time I remember buying a 3K++ phone was the bygone year when Nokia released the N93 at RM2999...haha eat Maggi bulan November

So, no need to Q this year for non-invited buyers for MAXIS

From MAXIS FB:

Dear Maxis, if i order iphone 6 via maxis online store and i can skip the queues by showing my receipt?

Maxis @Shu Hao Ng:Hi, please be advised that if you make your purchase via Maxis online store we will deliver it to your doorstep. TQ

yes, you might need to wait for a few weeks if the stock is low.

some might not have the patience, thus will still go to the store...

Wonder if the differences from last year and this year like below for those eligible maxis users.

Last year 5S launch:
1. ROI/Pre-check
2. Received email that state I'm eligible to buy and choose model
3. Printout confirmation email with designated MAXIS centre (nearest to your address)
4. Launch day designated center open at 730am and I Q 15min and collect my allocated phone.
5. Go home at 8am with brand new iPhone.

This year 6/6+ launch (GUESS ONLY):
1. Pre-check
2. Receive email confirm eligible to buy on 31 October, signup maxis store account if haven't and save credit card details.
3. Go to online store on 31 October and choose model and make payment directly online.
4. Deliver to house on 6/7 November

On the pre-check, it is to save everyone time to check whether they are eligible or not and all the chaotic exchanges happened every time there is an iPhone launch. I have no idea how they determine the priority but the not more than 30 months total extension period is compulsory, the rest might be Maxis users first, debt free, MOC members etc.

I can see the rationale for this, every time Iphone launch all maxis centers operation are disrupted with ppl queuing, make payments, etc. this solves everything. Like last year, there will be a big sign outside all centers that no walk-in purchase available until year end. Will be longer this year I think.

In 3 days time after pre-check.

On the Apple leather case, I got the product RED for 5S, looks like I've used for 10 years after 10days of use. The black one no such problem because it's black. And the charging section hole also almost putus, that's why they make it all open at the bottom now. The old case also very very hard to take off, hence the open bottom now I think because of complains.

The new leather cases looks shinier like got extra coating especially the black one, probably a revision to avoid the staining look of the 5s case.

most likely i think..if pre-check is not needed for pre-sale, then why do pre-check in the first place?

2 questions before the arrival of ip6:

1. how to do u guys sync photos? normal itunes sync enough?

2. how do u guys transfer whatsapp/sms history from old iphone to new iphone?
*
Lazy person like me rely on the daily iCloud automatic backup to backup the whole phone (photos, SMS, settings etc) and I signup for the affordable 0.99 per month 20GB Apple storage. Setup once and forget it, super easy and peace of mind if phone lost. I no longer uses the wired iTunes anymore after iCloud for backup/restore. If I got a new phone, just choose restore and everything will be transferred from old phone like carbon copy intact. no need to rely on the still buggy whatsapp restore for example.

With iOS 8.1, i also enable the iCloud Photo Library (beta) which will upload all your pics to iCloud and can access from any devices (iPad, Mac Photo app in early 2015, browser etc). And for those with 16GB, you can enable Optimize Iphone Storage feature to keep lower resolution photos and videos automatically on the phone, the original one on iCloud. Nifty.

I went to Switch just now and asked whether they have pre-order or not for iphone 6, and asked about whether can walk-in to buy or not on 7th.

From outlook, that guy looks like "pangkat tinggi" for me. He answered with somehow rude-attitude: "NO, iphone 6 is not launch yet how to pre-order? The 7th you saw on social media is just an estimation, Apple hasn't announce anything yet. You go check Apple webpage la, this month end is Thailand, Apple will normally announce release that two weeks earlier, the soonest iphone 6 reaches malaysia will be end of Nov, he answered confidently." I walked away after that with a nod nod.gif

But from my experience of "chasing iphone" since iphone 4, I don't quite remember Apple ever announce the release that before Telcos in Malaysia, every time we receive news from Telco first then Apple announce it.

As in this year, Telco in India announce their release that first, and then on 13 October, Apple then only confirmed it.

I am just curious, what make that fella answer me so confidently saying that iPhone will only reach at the end of Nov while all the Telcos announce it already and date also release by them, not social media speculation.  hmm.gif

When is Apple Store going to start receiving order? (no pre-order right?)

What is the estimated lead-time?
*
If based from history, day 1 of country official launch date. First come first basis, 2-3 weeks delivery (for 5s)

iP6 is more popular among developed countries while iP6+ is famous among Asian due to preference into bigger screen size. They tends to look for a phone that can substitute a computer in which everything can be done on the phone. #thirdworldproblem
*
That's why Tim Cook estimated wrongly the Asians demand with 70:30 ratio for production of 6:6+, hence the shortage of 6+. Now they are adjusting to 55:45.

Just got a hands on with the iPhone 6 and 6 plus ytd in Singapore, I must say that the 6 is just the perfect size for me, and the design is sleek and precision made. As for the 6+, it's humongous, I really don't know how would people hold that or put it in the pocket.
*
For a person who has used both Lumia 1520 and Xperia Z Ultra, 6+ size feels about right for me, those two bordering unusable and clumsy for day to day use unless I carry in a bag smile.gif

Curious about this too. I don't feel it's an upgrade though, more like a switch in platform.

From all the reviews I've read the conclusion is Apple has yet to refine the phablet experience, which is understandable, as this is their first try. And if the price of the 6 plus breaches RM3k for the 64GB version (which is almost certain), then the question is would we pay to be part of the experiment. All this seems to be pointing me towards the 6, but as a Note 3 owner, I would  miss the screen size, and I'm pretty sure the battery life won't be as great.

Sigh. Decisions, decisions...
*
Go for the 6+ if you are unsure otherwise you will always ask for an entire 12 months or more on whether you should have gotten the 6+ smile.gif

Go for the 6 if you like and appreciate smaller and normal size phone. And money is a serious concern.

For me, money is serious concern but still will get 6+ and don't mind eating Maggi haha
