Oh, so the silencer, pistol burst, headshot reticule, agility etc are present in-game and buying it just give it to you at the start of the game? *Phew, okay, so not too bad*

Yeah, I noticed that tomb DLC. So the game worth clicky?

CoH2? Now or never? Standard or Digital?
*
Go for standard. IMHO, the commander DLCs aren't that useful (unless you've played a lot of hours and are interested in a particular one). Though, Digital will come with Case Blue (one of the Theater of War).

Edit: Bear in mind Digital will come with original COH complete pack. (Get this if you don't have the originals, otherwise go for the base game).

Haha. I played CoH before, like the game. But I heard CoH2 is not that good as compared to the original one.
*
Most of the hate for the game stems from its portrayal of the Red Army. The Russians disliked it. You can see the metacritic reviews mostly consists of Russians that hate the historical viewpoint of the game.

No, the hate on the game not what happened with how the games portrayed the Red Army. That is nothing compared to the other issues with the game such as current poor balance state, microtrasactions, DLCs, almost universally agreed upon shitty campaign, gameplay dumbed down to support microtrasactions and poor communication from Relic.
*
I've not played the campaign yet, hence I can't say much but judging from reviews most of the hate really did come from Russians.

My friend even said that CoH is better than CoH2.
CoH2 isn't that bad but CoH is better, as he said it.
Seen his stream plays and frankly, I think I kinda agree.
Tho he still plays it.
*
That I agree. COH is indeed better than COH2, especially the campaign and skirmishes. COH2 can be played without the additional DLC commanders without problems, just that it feels somewhat lacking.

Buying COH2 Digital Deluxe will net you original COH complete as well as COH2 plus some of it's DLCs.

Europa Universalis 4 on sale now. Tried the demo just now.. Not sure I will end up playing much of it. Much more complicated than Civ. Those interface... Buttons everywhere for all sorts of things!  ohmy.gif

Putting on max speed will actually cause my PC to lag too @@

Hit me up in Steam or PM or here if you want to know more about EU4. It's one of the easiest Grand Strategy to get into.

Did you finish up the tutorial?

reached till the Spanish campaign tutorial then got stuck at Exploration 2/8.

It asks me to select my fleet at a coastal city (forgot the name start with "A"). Did that.. but no respond. Built more ships and army + assign those exploration generals to them still no respond (the tutorial msg doesn't move on).

End up rage quit and uninstalled the whole demo. Haha. Searched online no other ppl had that issue hmm.  sweat.gif  doh.gif
*
You mean this?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TV0C7BvGeD0

The tutorial is very specific on building the right ship at the right province to continue. You might be stuck because of that.

No worries though. You've done well to reach that part, all of the other parts can be learned through playing.

You can start as Castille for an easier route. Let me know if you're stuck on anything and I'll be glad to help smile.gif

I can tell you EUIV is one of the best game I ever played(still playing),
pikachu01 suggested to me few months ago, and I didn't regret playing it.
The whole game looks complicated when you first played it, but after you break those parts down you will started to know how to play, like a god. icon_rolleyes.gif

shit... kena poison liao  ph34r.gif

thing is I'm always used to the normal type of turn based games like Civ, Age of Wonders, HoMM. If I am to get this game it will be my first step into grand strategy.. never played any grand strategy type of games before.

and if I buy also will get the Europa Universalis IV Collection since it has most of the DLCs (wanna get the full experience at one go rather than the need to keep replaying).. yet that is not cheap.. RM42 bucks even after sales  sweat.gif

but if I really got myself a gem that I really like... RM42 bucks will be worth it... arghhh thinking thinking...  unsure.gif
I still have Company of Heroes 1 &2 to complete (getting kinda tired with all that adrenaline rush and explosions everywhere).
*
In Grand Strategy, the game plays like those active pause/real time with pause games like Dragon Age/Knights of the Old Republic/Aarklash Legacy/FTL/Baldur's Gate.

The game will require pausing when there's something you'll need to do or when you see your neighbors amassing huge armies/ships or you notice a rebellion happening in one of your colonies, or when your enemy goes to war with his neighbor and his provinces is ripe for the picking. You decide when to do what.

Usually, there will be notifications on top (and the notification is customizable to events). You can customize the message to pause the game if there is an important event (like your ruler dying or another country declared war on you).

It's not like Company of Heroes where lightning reflexes of micro-ing is key to winning. It's more of a chess game where you can pause and view what's going on at the other side of the continent while planning your army composition with generals as well as building your war chest with trade.

EU4 is really a gem that can be one of the greatest strategical type game of today. If you're a strategy buff, definitely get it.

Edit: There are only a few DLCs that are necessary for the full experience of the game:

1. Art of War - Definitely get this DLC as it provides a lot of automation to the game (like building armies/upgrading ships)
2. Wealth of Nations - Trade conflicts/Privateers
3. Conquest of Paradise - Colonial enhancements
4. Res Publica - New Idea Groups (semi optional, but if you're planning to play Netherlands, get this).

Optional for more flavour:
- American Dream (if you're planning to play heavily in Americas)
- Digital Extreme Edition Upgrade (If you're planning to play Muslim countries)
- Pre-Order Pack (If you're planning to play Byzantium)

do you think I should get the base game only? or go for the EU4 collection straight? the DLCs worth it? will it reflect immediately in any games that I play? Or I have to pick which DLC to activate before a game begins?
*
As above, there are only a few DLCs that are necessary. Best if you get the base game and play from there. There are plenty of flavour already even without the DLCs.

Think of it as Lego blocks. Base game gets you 2000 pieces of Lego to play with. DLCs (1-4) will nett you fast wheels and a remote control to build a Lego Mindstorm. Optional flavour DLCs will give you retractable/removable arms (not worth it if you're not building a robot).

Edit: You can pick which DLCs you want to activate before playing the game.

okok thanks! guess you're a big fan of the game.. know so much about it and so helpful laugh.gif

I'll just get the Collector's edition then since only by getting that got sales for the said DLCs.

Art of War will get it later.. RM38 a bit steep just for a DLC.. it's new too so understandable.. later got sales see how  smile.gif
*
I'm pretty sure that if you liked the game, you won't mind paying RM38 for the DLC. I'm getting the DLC soon-ish after I load the update and play a few rounds without the DLC.

Definitely play a demo first and run the course of the 400 years and see if you like it though before purchasing it.

max speed is laggy.. what's the recommended speed to play it on? level 2-3, or 4 speed?

yea I get the need for it to pause once awhile.. set commands then unpause.. similar to Civ5. Especially when massive battles are happening.

Tried enough of the demo to know what it is.. the rest is experimenting to learn further. Will play it on Easy difficulty first till I'm confident enough then will jack the difficulty up.

There's currently a bug with high speed mode. You need to disable compressed save and see if it fixes the issue:

For your question, I mostly play it in fastest speed, and pause once a while to move my troops and read texts.

pikachu01 I'll pass the achievement, its impossible. 4% of players completed this nia lol.

Yeah, ironman is not easy. But I'm the kind of person that likes mods so I can't get achievements. Me iz saddingz cry.gif

If I were you, I wont even start grand strategy as even 4Xs are pretty time consuming. I will never go into grand strategy because they are far more time consuming than games like Civ V. Just dont have the time these days.

I just cant imagine me without games. Considering I am forever alone, I guess i'll just keep on playing till the end of time. biggrin.gif
*
4X games are more time consuming for me as 4X have victory conditions. Grand Strategy games end on a certain date. Like EU4 it's 1800s and you can quit anytime as well. Also you can start at any time as well.

QUOTE(Cheesenium @ Nov 3 2014, 08:28 PM)
I dont think so. Other than Civ V, most 4X can be completed to 3-6 hours on default setting. That isnt too long for me. At the same time, they are a lot easier to learn with better UI in general so I dont have to spend 50 hours to learn how to play a grand strategy. Most 4X are simple enough to learn as you go while if you vaguely know how 4X works, you pretty much can play a lot of 4X in the market as most of them copies Civ V's UI and style.

I dont stay for the victory conditions. Some times, I just quit when I am starting to steam roll them considering most 4X has pretty dumb AI.

Also, I am not a fan of history, especially medieval or earlier so grand strategy at the moment isnt for me.
*
I actually learned to play in under 5 hours for EU4. It's not that hard. Besides, depending on how you're playing 4X, it can be done the same with Grand Strategy games as well. But the difference is, you can't really steamroll in Grand Strategy games. Hence why I'm not playing 4x games anymore. Too boring with predictable outcomes and dumb AI.

Im sorry, I am uninterested in grand strategy at the moment. The dull UI, history heavy setting and the steep learning curve isnt for me at all. It just feels like you are giving a vibe that 4X is inferior to grand strategy in the same way how a sim racer looks down on people who play NFS. Feels like grand strategy is great while 4X are garbage these days.
*
The UI is pretty dull, that's for sure. No denying that actually. However get past the UI you'll find the history setting mind-f*kin-blowing. Like how playing Japan, you conquer Ming (in EU4) or Qing (in Victoria 2) or doing the dissolving the Holy Roman Empire with France, or playing UK and colonizing the heck out of Africa. The opposite can happen as well when playing Malacca (with Ayuthyya raining blows on you) or playing US and having the British knocking on your door every few decades.

The steep learning curve, I agree. However like other games such as Kerbal Space Program or Prison Architect which have ~3-5 hours of learning curve. You got to agree that those games are legendary when it comes to the enjoyment you get vs cut and dry 4X.

When talking about 4X, it's usually Civ V and recently Civ BE. With Civ V, you can still take in the historical setting. But Civ BE lost it, hence you got to agree that historicity of a game is quite important.

As I had said, I am not interested in any historical setting. I never liked it due to the way secondary schools keep shoving into your throats and it looked uninteresting to me. I am not interested in playing any historical countries.

Maybe other 4X is dry and boring for but please keep the arrogance to yourself.
*
Umm, the AI in 4X games being dumb is already a known fact. I didn't say that people who play 4X are dumb did I?

Please keep your misbegotten communication errors to yourself, thank you.
