i think i just settle down with Assetto Corsa... the only sim race in steam. its developer, Kunos Simulazioni, mainly focus on sim race. hope they can compete with those Gran turismo, forza of console.

i bought it yesterday. and its no bullshit. click play and drop down s8 to a race. try with x360 and the controlling is not bad.
at the same time, i try to scout for project Cars beta, and indeed the graphic is indeed better than AC, but i'll get PCars as well next year.

I'm still waiting for Project Cars and Next Car Game to finish their development before getting it.
For now the only racing game i'm playing is Mario Kart 8 lol!

yeah. as PCars already close their subs like end of last year. hence, only the early subs. still can follow their build.

Grid, Forza, GT and so on are considered as simcade. They do have some simulation characteristics such as Autosport added a basic version of tire slip angle that pCARS has but it doesn't not offer it in depth like sims. I can literally destroy my brakes in 1 lap in AC but I can never do this in Grid.

Sims, I think there are a few "sims" on Steam such as pCARS, Assetto Corsa, Race Room Experience. pCARS is delayed to March due to optimisation and polish. AC is on Release Candidate now, it has quite a lot of bugs. Race Room Experience is a free to play but they changed their business model as cost of the cars and tracks aren't so expensive now so its quite playable now. There is also GTR2, GT Legends and Race On Injection.

However the difference in sims and simcade are getting smaller day by day as there are a lot of modern cars that are easy to drive. The days of absurdly difficult sims are pretty much over but games like pCARS and AC still offer some content that offers the same difficult experience that older games offer such as AC's Shelby Cobra and pCARS's classic cars such as Ford Sierra Group A.

And yes, you can play sims like AC and pCARS on a gamepad or keyboard. These games are designed to support other peripherals other than wheel. It just that you might need to consider stuff such as taking care of fuel and brakes in sims that you rarely do in simcade.
