Yeah but I usually seem to find Americans and occasionally Europeans on Halo 3 and Call of Duty 4 matchmaking, unless I'm specifically playing a custom game with my friends.
For some reason,I'm not as bothered with Xbox Live lag than PC lag.Just the slightest bit causes me to curse on TF2 or World of Warcraft >_> But playing on Halo 3 is really tolerable,I don't know why.I think it's because the game itself is just overall more fun. But Rock Band is ridiculous. The online system is just plain awful. You simply CAN'T play with overseas players, and all my friends who can play expert('cept for Blacktrix) are all overseas. |

Still buy ahem games for certain consoles of mine, but since i buy Ori for my PS3, i realise that Ori is so much better because i will be guaranteed u will be
able to play the game when u brought it home (ahem games although cheap, sometimes cant play) and also extra things u will benefit from it. And also makes u feel appreciative towards the disc (ahem disc sometimes u tend to just put it away without care) |

There are a few factors that comes in to mind when purchasing an original game :
1. Type of game - You are willing to pay RM2XX for an Adventure/RPG game that will last you a few days/months but would you pay the same price for an Action/Fighting title that you can finish in a few hours ? 2. Content Quality - Would you pay high price for a game with crappy graphics/sound but with good gameplay or rather spend the money on a show piece title with excellent graphics/sound that only has mediocre /less than desirable gameplay ? 3. Online capability - This is subjected to if the network server recognise if you are using an "ahem" copy but if it doesn't will you still get the original ? 4. Replayability - Slightly related to factor No.1. The willingness to pay for a title that you will play over and over again but will you do the same for those that you only play once then keep it back in the box ? 5. Price - An original title can cost anything between RM100-RM200. This is quite hefty on the wallet if you a frequent game player but "ahem" allows you to get more for a fraction of the price. 6. Monthly fee - Sligtly off topic cause it's more related to MMOG. If the game requires a monthly fee instead of F2P will you continue to pay for it or search for F2P alternatives ? I think quite a lot of people are getting "ahem" game as a way of testing out the actual gamplay before investing in the original title but as most typical "Malaysian" mindset will think "I have already pay for the game why pay more for the same thing ?".I think the best solution here is for game companies to provide trials/demos for upcoming titles so you will at least get to see if the title is worthy of an "original" investment. I support originals because it pays for the hard work that the production company had put in the title |

QUOTE(tanleeseng @ Jan 22 2009, 04:18 AM) There are a few factors that comes in to mind when purchasing an original game : I prefer standard pricing of games regardless of genre... then u know which one is value for money... its down to our preferences...1. Type of game - You are willing to pay RM2XX for an Adventure/RPG game that will last you a few days/months but would you pay the same price for an Action/Fighting title that you can finish in a few hours ? 2. I support originals because it pays for the hard work that the production company had put in the title Developers if given power to control price, would definitely charge us more... would u prefer that? Everyone likes things free, however nothing is free. People should be paid for what they worked hard on. Piracy kills jobs and developers are then caught in the crossfire and ultimately lose their jobs. This also hurting legit customers like us that want to support developers and publishers with the purchase of games that we are interested in. I thought all companies provide some trials/demos for their titles at some point of time... By buying ahem simply means helping those pirate to steal more.... |
