Arghhhh shit storm today. Horsecrap MSI! I was expecting an IPS panel laptop, ended up getting a TN panel instead! On top of that, this is my first MSI laptop. It's a PRESTIGE PE60. Even in the bloody quotation stated "IPS display". The bummer is that every shop including online stores are advertising this laptop using IPS panel. Very effing misleading. Example one: http://www.techhypermart.com/msi-pe60-6qe-...x960m-w10h.htmlExample two: http://www.lazada.com.my/msi-prestige-pe60...ok-7919618.htmlSheesh. QUOTE(freddy manson @ Feb 5 2016, 09:55 AM) how to check if your screen is TN or IPS? First, look at the screen directly. TN panels are very obvious, color and contrast will change rapidly if viewed from a different angle. Second, use apps like HWiNFO to get the hardware ID name and with the information, you can always google them. In my case, it's a Chi Mei N156HGE-EAL and it is a TN panel.

QUOTE(tachlio @ Feb 5 2016, 01:02 PM) Seen like you never read back the panel discussion. https://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopi...entry77697466check back few page back and forward, then u know detail Sigh, wish i know about this earlier. Still, their business practice is indeed questionable. Paid 4k+ for a laptop that was advertised having superior display and getting the opposite really pissed me off.
"After examination and an extensive factory calibration process by MSI True Color Technology, the panel quality will be more accurate, close to 100% sRGB. Hence, each color is delivered with the highest standard precision in detail, guaranteeing excellent color fidelity for many use applications."
True colour my foot. This post has been edited by pokute: Feb 5 2016, 04:07 PM

Still on the IPS issue on MSI Prestige PE60 6QE, this is the reply from shitbag MSI: Hi (name),
As spoken via phone, based on MSI website specification, we state it clearly the PE60 6QE is come with wide-viewing angle panel and it’s actually an IPS level panel as mentioned on booklet as well. Please be understand that panel always have many different grade/level. For Chi Mei N156HGE, it also have many different type of N156HGE.
PE60 6QE specification from MSI webpage: https://www.msi.com/product/notebook/PE60-6...o-specification Regarding the link from customer, since TechHyperMart is not MSI authorized reseller, we have no authorize to control what info they show on their webpage and MSI will not take any responsibility on that.
Please visit MSI-MY webpage to find out about MSI authorized dealers info: https://www.msi.com/wheretobuy/shoplist/43/3/1
Hope you can understand it.
Thank you. Regards, Service Specialist Mei Chee

QUOTE(shirogawawa @ Feb 24 2016, 11:47 PM) Wah, thats mean they use low grade ips lol Even if using low grade IPS, the colors will not change significantly when viewed from other angles. MSI is simply dismissing my complaint and trying to pass a TN panel as an IPS panel. This is very insulting. This post has been edited by pokute: Feb 26 2016, 10:20 PM
