Currently I'm owning a MSI GE40 2OC 290MY.

The specs are:
I7-4702MQ
8GB RAM
NVIDIA Geforce GTX 760M

Is it worth to do a upgrade like adding more ram or changing the processor/graphic cards or rather use the money for a new laptop?

I was being told that it is better to turn the turbo off for better lifespan as the temperature will not go to high, is it true?

Besides, I just bought a monitor... how do I set the external monitor as the primary monitor? Now sometimes after I shutdown/sleep the laptop, it will use the laptop screen instead of the external monitor when i open the laptop.
