Thank you everyone for the useful information.

Will be joining the DC Blue gang hopefully within these few days, as I'm currently arranging my own insurance instead of opting for the dealer's recommended one. It is cheaper due to the 10% discount although the SA told me the franchise workshop can't commence repairs sooner. Allianz do offer 50% off for the special perils rider, which is savings of around RM350 for the 2.0 GLS.

I think it would be a good idea to ride with stock options for a while before deciding on the following:

Additional tinting - to be decided only after experiencing how bad the default one is myself. Skytint has better protection options which do not void the existing layer's warranty, but more research on quality of other brands is needed since Skytint is Fujitsu-Minolta after all.

Coating - PPF is expensive, let alone only the front part. And there's just so many options for coating, where I'm likely to pick one around the RM12xx range.

Dash cam - was informed by SA that there's one with Sony optics at 1080p, which connects to the area above the rearview mirror (for GLS). Clean and neat, costs RM599.

Not really keen on the other stuffs shared by owners here, though I may give in to all the racun-ing smile.gif

... Nope.. Decided on Meteor Gray cuz easier to maintain and doesn't look too dirty after rainfall or a week or 2 no wash.. Plus, went to showroom to see DC Blue in person and could immediately see swirls and light scratches very prominent looking. And this is the polished display car.. Imagine a daily driver.. Yes it dcb definitely looks better but I'm not willing to invest that much time to maintain it. I wash the car myself.. Won't be doing no expensive coating too.. Bought protect/sealant and wax to apply later.

. .. It was a no brainer to buy now. 10k plus savings off loan interest rates is huge.

I share the same views too. The 0% GST makes up more than 50% off the bank total interest.

Got my DC Blue this week and it's interesting to have seen five same colour CX-5s during this period. Previously, not so many.

After much thought, PPS and coating is out. I've decided to have it waxed/buffed every three months as a way to upkeep it from tar/whirls as opposed to heftier visits to the coating center even if not as often as waxing it.

Importantly, we live in a country where road conditions and driving behaviour would result to unavoidable bumps, chips and dents. Hence, post-respraying the affected section would still require recoating it (Gtechniq gave the estimated cost of RM250). Plus, the coating of the damaged section needs to be sanded off for the paint to effectively adhere to.

As for tint, I'm contemplating tinting the front windscreen only + Groovy shades for the rest. At least the shades are removable, to cater to change in interior scenery from time to time. Just a lifestyle preference.

As for the first week of ownership experience itself, two out of four doors need their closing latch recalibrated during the upcoming first SC visit. The doors require harder force to close.

As for the MZD display, setting the brightness to Auto does not work. It is still bright as Day, during night time drives.

Question: Can someone recommend a good car waxing centre in Klang Valley please?

Yeah, I noticed the MZD display isn't affected by the auto setting.. Thought I wasn't setting it right and resorted to manual setting. Found a sweet spot. Hey, does the your dash displays (RPM, Speedo, lcd) dim and brigthen when you turn the stalk? Seems like mine doesn't. or perhaps its cuz MZD connect display is on auto?

The dash display dims when the stalk is turned regardless of the MZD display setting (Auto/Day/Night).

As for the MZD display, setting it to Auto allows the brightness to be tuned accordingly to the dash display when the stalk is adjusted. Setting it to Day or Night will just lock the brightness in that setting regardless how you set the dash display.

Dark Blue is the bomb ! Just that its contrast with dirt and dust hence you’d spend more time wiping ur car. Depens on ur OCD lvl
Attached Image

Discovered this chip and dent (1.5 cm diameter) at the driver's door this morning, caused by a phantom car while parking and just a few hours before my trip to Ceramic Pro. Two-week old car's first ding.

Wife has been very patient with my mood the entire morning smile.gif

The CP guys explained that it is feasible to proceed with coating on the panel to prevent rust. At anytime, to come back for re-coat after deciding to fix the door. As long it is within the warranty period, re-coat is FOC.

It is expected for Mazda to charge a bomb for the fix and respray. Anyone has positive experience with workshops that can match the original DC Blue colour?

Update: The 'chip' is gone! Apparently, damage was only done to the lacquer surface, so polishing it removed the perception of a chip. I can only see a slight dent, which is totally acceptable to me. No photos could capture this, as it is now only visible to the naked eye 🙏🏻

woah...another one 'casualty'
Sorry to hear that bro.

I think you can consider change the color if one day you going to respray the whole car. I think those 3rd party car painting shop provide better quality than Bermaz..

A friend mentioned that Dent Repair Malaysia can fix it. I've heard of places like that but never bothered with the previous car. The size of the damage is like a huge dried nose booger, so I hope they can cover it up seamlessly by whatever tech they have.

Thanks!

IKR..  doh.gif  To the missus and I, test driving the CRV was pretty much a soulless experience and since we didn't need the strong practicality.. We went with our hearts. I can understand why most would get the CRV instead. It's a great package. Just not for us.
Sorry man & kudos to understanding wife..  console.gif.. I advise to leave as is and proceed with the coating. It hurts now, but you'll get over it say next year..  smile.gif.. Though, now I'm anxious about where I left the car.. Parked and someone else parked immediately (too close for comfort) beside me. Seemed like a nice fella cuz I asked if I should move closer to the wall to give more space, but he says nvm.. All good. Fingers crossed..  sweat.gif

Part and parcel of city driving as I shared... no, predicted, in my previous post!

But need to make a correction - it won't rust due to undercoat. Yes, proceeding to coat since the panel can be redone the next time when I accumulate more dings. Other cars should fear the ones with more scars smile.gif

First cut is the deepest yeah! Btw, to other guys out there, the anger/disbelief/acceptance process took 3 hours and 10 minutes. May be useful to know!

Update: The 'chip' is gone! Apparently, damage was only done to the lacquer surface, so polishing it removed the perception of a chip. I can only see a slight dent, which is totally acceptable to me. No photos could capture this, as it is now only visible to the naked eye. 🙏🏻
