Just done my 1k service @ Penang AutoCity Mazda SC and top up RM142 for Full Synthetic Oil (4L + 1L but 1L seem like still left a lot)..... not sure is it normal/reasonable price...

Seem like they are using Shell Helix Ultra 5W-40 Fully Synthetic Engine Oil, is it others Mazda SC also using the same type or others brand?

Thx
*
Apparently so. Next time don't top up for their Shell Helix Ultra 5W-40, it is not a spec optimized for CX5.
Did they return you the balance oil quantity?

Yup return balance to me....I though they are Mazda SC and should select optimize engine oil for CX5......which is the correct optimize oil?

Thx

Too bad not for M'sia Mazda SC. Maybe they made a deal with Shell Malaysia, they got the oil cheap but it is not a correct spec for CX5.
Avoid 5W-40, it is too viscous and make your car sluggish.

You don't have to top up additional ~RM150 for their Shell Helix Ultra 5W-40. Just use back their semi synthetic oil without paying extra. Of course theoretically this semi syn oil can't last for 10,000km OCI.

So the option is that you can choose to do the oil change at outside workshops when you are free. With this ~RM150 budget on hand, there are quite a number of selections for correct spec of oil. There is no need to change the oil filter; but basically is just draining of oil.

You still pay the money, but you feed your car with correct and better oil, and it won't void your warranty as SC won't know this.

1. Front sensor is not an issue. Even without it you can manouver CX5 easily. Installed one after market, but rarely use it.

2. Honda, and Perodua also using 0W-20 for their fully synthetic oil. Been wondering whether it's the same as mazda's 0W20 recommended. Price around 140++  for 4L. Any comment on this highly appreciated.

Yes. Their fully syn 0W-20 should work fine.
But you need slightly more than 4L.

Is 4 litre sufficient for cx5 2.0 ? Understand that the capacity is around 4.2 litr

AFAIK, 4-litre is insufficient.
