QUOTE(mayalab @ Jul 1 2016, 05:25 PM) Too bad not for M'sia Mazda SC. Maybe they made a deal with Shell Malaysia, they got the oil cheap but it is not a correct spec for CX5. Avoid 5W-40, it is too viscous and make your car sluggish. I think modern Jap cars like this CX5 would be xW20 and not more than xW30.

QUOTE(Loreki @ Jul 8 2016, 11:33 AM) Hi all! Joining the CX-5 club here. Took delivery of the 2.5L version last month. One thing I notice is the ride is quite bumpy (after several complaints from passengers at the back). Any idea if changing the stock toyo tyres help? Waiting for it to wear out.. As a rear passenger, the 19" rim ride comfort is noticeably worst than the 17" rim.

QUOTE(killallmods @ Jul 21 2016, 02:14 PM) mazda skyactiv engine in overseas markets are recommended to use 0-20 engine oil. but if not mistaken malaysia service center using 5-40? Will this harm the engine? The car will feel heavy with 5W40. I will seriously question the SC for using an oil that is different from the car manual. In Black & White which I will then forward to Mazda Japan.

QUOTE(skc888 @ Jul 22 2016, 10:52 PM) So the free service by Mazda comes with semi-synthetic ? Can the semi-synthetic last up to 10K KM ? or every 5K KM have to go back to SC for another engine oil replacement ? I don't have a Mazda. Generally speaking a heavier oil like 5W40 "suck" some power from engine compared to a lighter 0w20 oil. Generally speaking, Synthetic or Mineral base oil is not the determining factors when it comes to when to change oil. Generally speaking it's the quality and quantity of the additives inside the oil that matters.

QUOTE(lazarus7247 @ Jul 31 2016, 02:38 PM) Hmm apparently comfort on the 2.5L backseat is very bad due to the 19" rims. Any thoughts ? Sat in both 17" and 19". Not sure what tire pressure on both and 19" is significantly worst.

QUOTE(chuah_ph @ Jul 31 2016, 09:16 PM) Honestly I prefer boss speaker then getting 19" haha...but it did looked much nicer on SUV.....again I choose the engine performance instead of the 19" rims.....really big diff if u try both.... As driver, of course the 2.5. Vast difference. As rear passenger, no way I want to sit in a 19". One reason I didn't get the CX5.

QUOTE(chuah_ph @ Aug 1 2016, 11:59 PM) You may check with Mazda .....honestly now 90% of new car all equip with smart entry or push start....is it safe or not emmm no 1 can guarantee it ...
It's said it makes it far easier to steal car. The only way to prevent that is may be put car key insider your refrigerator. Alhttp://www.cbsnews.com/news/high-tech-car-thieves-may-be-breaking-in-by-amplifying-key-fob-signal/

QUOTE(chuah_ph @ Aug 2 2016, 07:17 AM) Ya I also heard key less much easy to be hack n steal heheh... hard to prevent anything to happen n so far no case in Msia that keyless kena hack yet hehe or if any know then can share more details hehe.... if worry then may install additional pedal lock etc or change alarm system to those so call high end Viper Alarm but dunno how good is it.... If they can duplicate the signal then i don't think it would be too difficult for them to amplify the signal. Even more effortless than actually having to break the car window to steal the car. The thieves were believed to be have used a device to duplicate the signal of the car's remote control alarm to unlock the vehicle before driving away. - See more at: http://www.themalaymailonline.com/malaysia...h.g1vIL1Xs.dpuf

QUOTE(chuah_ph @ Aug 30 2016, 08:14 AM) Xtrail 3rd rows only for small kids and if need boot space then cant use at all... only 2 airbag for such a big cars... a bit cacat... if not wrong the back boot cover is fiberglass (some 1 told me b4)..... my fren test drive it and full of rattling from dashboard so u might wanna confirm that....he say no diff much from Livina hahaha.... Driving n handling... is below CX5 and you may google some video from youtube... I have test driven both CX5 and X Trail. CX5's handling and stability is slightly better. X Trail also not bad. X Trail's comfort is slightly better. CX5 2.0 17" rim comfort also not better. But CX5 2.5 with 19" rim has terrible rear passenger comfort.

QUOTE(chuah_ph @ Aug 30 2016, 10:37 AM) So far my 19" 2.5L didnt receive any passenger complain yet since day 1 haha!!! Just they say have to jump down a bit if you are not tall enough hehe!!! But I did reduced the tyre air pressure to 240.....slow down through bump...not really sudden accelerate....again if comfort then better got CRV haha as Mazda really more on driver hehe plus back seat more straight unless change OEM seat bracket....for more comfort plus handling then may consider Subaru Forester if you dont mind on smaller boot space as well as the standard forester look..... 2 airbag for 5+2 SUV Xtrail is really no no for me d hahhah!!! plus need the 2.5L for xtrail as 2.0L was told quite lagging too due to giant body weight which might be same for 2.0L CX5. Again some T n H also 2 airbag lah so really depend on users preferences.... I did a back to back comparison of 17" and 19". The 19" ride comfort is noticeably inferior to the 17" I have seen some auto reviewers saying the exact same thing.

I have tried both the 2.0 and the 2.5 version of CX5 and X-Trail In term of engine power delivery, for the 2.0 version, the X-Trail is better. The X-Trail's 2.0 engine is smoother than the X-Trail 2.5

QUOTE(chuah_ph @ Aug 30 2016, 10:43 AM) No denied that if compare 19 vs 17... definitely smaller is better for comfort hehe while bigger for look That's why I decided to get the HRV with 16" instead of 17".

QUOTE(chuah_ph @ Aug 30 2016, 11:12 AM) I didnt try xtrail b4 but my fren feel 2.0 too lagging n 2.5 more smooth hahah.... maybe more on personal preferences hehe... he told me 2.0 for Teana is still ok but not for xtrail.... 2.5 of course more powerful than 2.0 What I meant instead was, the X-Trail's 2.0 engine is less rough sounding than the X-Trail's 2.5 And comparing the CX5 2.0 and X-Trail 2.0, the X-Trail's feel more powerful.

QUOTE(chuah_ph @ Aug 30 2016, 11:27 AM) Ohh get it maybe sound proof issue hehe.....ya CX5 2.0 tends to be a bit sluggy during pick up n require more high rev for more strong accelerate...was told this is Skyactive nature for save petrol if want powerful pick up then 2.5L hahaha!! Even though the CX5 is a bigger car than the Honda HRV, the HRV rear seems to give a bigger sense of space. Since it's physically a smaller car, the HRV is more suited for town driving. On highway of course the CX5 wins.

QUOTE(chuah_ph @ Aug 30 2016, 11:36 AM) Honestly I try my sis HRV n compare my CX5, HRV no way to meet handling as well as performance... maybe for performance mine is 2.5L... but handling still CX5 win a lot... maybe 2.0L CX5 more close to HRV but Skyactive use to be slow for pick up.... space no comment as Mazda tends to be smaller for back seat which similar to M3, M6, CX3 compare to same rival.... plus HRV feel more rattling too at least for my sis car....again fuel still king for Skyactive (500-600km no issue for ~44L or some even 600km++) hehe Yes, CX5 is definitely a superior car in chassis dynamic. No question about that and it's also more expensive. But HRV's small size is better for town parking. The HRV suspension over corrugated roads is very noisy.

QUOTE(chuah_ph @ Aug 30 2016, 11:36 AM) Actually I have a long threat of discussion in lowyat b4 I make up my mind for CX5 2.5L... hehe my 3 finalist were CX5 2.0L, Subaru Forester 2.0L and CX5 2.5L..My ranking was (still now) 1st CX5 2.5L follow by Subaru Forester 2.0L and lastly CX5 2.0L....I choose CX5 2.5L mainly for performance, fuel for 2.5L SUV, value for 2.5L money plus exterior hehe.... https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/3936827/+280It's clear you are a male driver. A female driver more likely pick car based on look.

QUOTE(chuah_ph @ Aug 30 2016, 11:52 AM) Actually I am MALE driver lah hahahahahah I choose for overall not just beauty... u may go through my thread... how I score the 3 cars... heheh.... Inner, Outter, Safety, Values of Money.....Msian mah.. apa pun mao n best for money hehehehe But leh I quite agree w/ u as my fren sis choose xtrail due to outlook, big but dont mind or care about handling, safety (airbag #), features etc. hehehe no offences.... 2 minor issues with CX5 1. Spare parts and service - poorer in my area. To me, the useless i-stop and more expensive battery. 2. Resale value. The bigger issue is, I wanted the 2.5 but hated the 19" rim.
