Running windows 7, checked my windows update tab and found some updates failed.

Open the details and found its Windows 10 failed...any idea why is this?

Update Error 80240020

i got the same error too, i think windows is trying to automatically update to windows 10 and thus it failed because no response. I just updated my windows 8.1 to windows 10 few minutes ago. Fukken smooth and fast! thumbup.gif

how fast is it ? haha. I'm  still using win8.1  and win 7 so far no major issue ....still thinking of update to win 10

Its like the difference between using google chrome with and without adblock, with adblock everything loads up pretty fast. Thats what i feel about windows 10. Windows 8.1 already fast, but windows 10 is much snappier. BUT.. its not without a hiccup tho.. There are few i found when im using it, like the one mentioned below. nod.gif i like microsoft edge, really nice replacement to internet explorer. smile.gif

Things that I found extremely incovinient are the music player stops when its been mininized and a couple of stuff, still not a big fan of the metro UI.

I also had this "issue". At first i thought it was built that way, but then after i change song, then i try to minimized the player doesnt stop playing anymore, its a bit weird "bug". sweat.gif

I really dont quite get how this Windows 10 upgrade system works.

I have my own Windows 8.1 PRO keys, and my current ultrabook using Windows 8.1 SL.

I already install Windows 8.1 PRO on my ultrabook and force update to Windows 10 PRO. Everything is successful, BUT, there are a few questions:

1) Windows said that after a month of usage, the W10 PRO key will be bind forever to the ultrabook. Whats gonna happen to W8.1 SL on my ultrabook motherboard? Gone?
2) Whats gonna happen to my W8.1 PRO key? Cant be use again in future?
3) Ive already use Produkey to get the serial keys available and currently im able to find 3 keys, W8.1 SL, W8.1 PRO, and also W10 PRO. Im wondering is the W10 PRO key legit? Cuz this software manage to get my W8.1 PRO key correctly, so im assuming its legit and i can safely use it to clean install later on in future?

Windows 10 is awesome, cant wait for this "testing" phase to past. Luckily Lenovo is quite fast on updates. thumbup.gif

HP.. will try... Yesterday spent whole night to find product key. Ended up the key is not working cry.gif Could it be possible that since the license activiated for win10. Then I reformat laptop and back to win8 (with win10 data wipe off). In their system, is they "see" the key is used by a win10 user... So, this key is not valid to activate my current win8..
But I try download win10, cannot proceed because license is not activiated in win8 sad.gif

You can install software name Produkey to get your windows serial keys. nod.gif

I wanted to help u but i dont really get whats your problem, just wondering is your laptop originally comes with Windows 8? The keys are bind to its motherboard? If so, u can try to use Produkey to get the key and try to use it to activate windows. nod.gif

here another question do I need to backup windows 7 on my asus laptop n53s if something happen before upgrade windows 10?
*
Definitely backup bro! Cuz windows 10 is relatively new, it supports latest model hardware but not sure for older hardware, so to be safe just backup. Or just go to Asus website and see if your laptop driver for Windows 10 are already available for usage.

the only major problem I have with windows 10 is ghost touch issue on my ultrabook, I hope its just a matter of software issue, cause whenever it happen, I disable touch screen on device manager, reboot, then touch screen will be fine again. Never got this problem on windows 8 before. I seriously hope its not hardware issue.

After a week of using Windows 10, i finally decided to revert back to Windows 8.1. Reason being its still not "stable" enough for my liking. Still plenty of bugs for my ultrabook, (touchscreen issue, battery issue, wifi intermittent connection, driver issue, etc). I really love Windows 10 UI, really practical and beautiful compared to the ugly Windows 8.1, but for the time being Windows 8.1 it "just works" for me, i hope that Windows 10 will be stable as soon as possible. Can't wait to dive in back to Windows 10. nod.gif

we all have different hardware. not all made it to the default driver set in the os even until now. some are lucky because default drivers work fine for them.

i have tested for months with previews before i can be comfortable to jump right in when it's released.

Ya bro, too bad. I really love Windows 10, looks like im gonna have to wait for a while. Major difference is on battery life, i got around 11 hours on Windows 8.1, but only 4 hours or less on Windows 10.

Also, Windows 10 default driver seems to make my touchscreen go crazy with all the ghost touch, never happen in Windows 8.1. I always need to sign out in order to make touchscreen works again.

Added: And also the wifi connection issue, it sometimes drop the connection by itself, when i click on the taskbar it works again, i dont know what cause this issue, maybe driver as well?

And i can't seems to fully "control" my system when im on Windows 10, felt like there's so many background process / update running on the back which i couldnt identified, the only thing i know when its running is when my battery life suddenly drop and my CPU temperature gets hot a little bit.

Luckily i still can activate my Windows 8.1 key. sweat.gif laugh.gif

locating compatible drivers seemed like one issue. (i believe that's the main problem in your case) one reason is that not all manufacturers release official ones for w10 yet (they are doing that). another thing is that users might forget to check out support website for drivers and other news and guide related to w10 upgrade for their machines. one way to check out compatible drivers are to search hardware id from device manager with search engines, then keep digging until you find the right one.

maybe i don't concern about battery life that's why i'm ok.

ya bro, already done everything like u said, within this 1 week i already tried many things finding the right driver, updating, etc. in fact, lenovo did offer quick fast update for windows 10, but sadly it just doesn't work. Im not sure whose to blame, but i'll give windows 10 a few more months for it to become stable. Since i already have my own windows 10 edu key, i dont need to worry about this "free" update, so i can just safely keep my current windows 8.1 pro key, and use the windows 10 edu key if i want to upgrade in the future. laugh.gif
