Hi, not sure if this is the right place to post. I am planning to temporarily terminate my Astro subscription. I would like to keep my option open about possible reconnection next time in the future. Is it possible to just terminate first and then when I want to subscribe back later, I just pay the reconnection fee without having to do any registration all over again OR is there a minimum termination period that must be observed before Astro consider this a permanent termination?

Anyone gone through similar experience before?

terminated my astro many years ago and never look back since..

received a few offers to reconnect back free but i declined ..

they have all your record, just call them up for reconnection but maybe you need to pay for the smartcard again, they will request you to send back the smartcard to them if you disconnect..

You also need to send back dish and decoder. It's all in the contract. if not they will still be charging you.

OK, so basically they are treating any termination as permanent termination if they ask for all the items to be returned back to them? Do they tell us where to return the items?

If like this, I terminate for good la.

you goto Astro SC together with your smartcard...

tell them you want to terminate astro and convert to NJOI...

fill form, return astro smartcard, pay RM 99, receive NJOI smartcard..

go home watch channels below free for life.. no more monthly fees

really free? (except the rm99 thingy) ohmy.gif

I got my astro decoder next to my TV collecting dust for almost half a year now. Maybe I should try this NJOI.

yep, hence it's free... and still better than upgrading/paying for TMnet's hypptv channels which are mostly crap as well'

if at some point, you feel like watching new movie releases or got certain live sports event.. you can pay to watch their prepaid channels by reloading your NJOI credit.

yea, the channels below are free..

http://www.astro.com.my/njoi/channels

I personally think it's worth to pay RM 99 once for that channel AEC alone if you've terminated astro.

-
you also have the option to pay for watching their prepaid channels using NJOI credit reload..

for example, few months back NJOI user can pay to watch the entire world cup matches live..

or, when you find yourself to be free / NBTD during holiday seasons.. you can pay to watch their movie/sports channels'

I assume the reason it is collecting dust is you have terminated subscription?? You don't need to return your decoder?

Astro wrote and tell me they propose to give me 3-mths free subscription, 4th month onwards only I continue pay. Give me free forever I take la icon_rolleyes.gif

btw, if you want to save a few mths subscription fee, maybe can use this tactic too icon_idea.gif

Actually, I didn't clear the last bill with Astro which is why I still have the decoder. They already suspended my subs long time ago and keep nagging me to pay the remaining amount. laugh.gif

Maybe with this NJOI thing, I might go and settle the bill once and for all. hmm.gif

My house got ASTRO for 3 years now. We would like to unsubscribe, and change to NJOI instead, since nobody watch TV that much.

My brother just called Astro and they said the promotion is off? Cannot be done? whatthefak? What promotion? Or its just a scam so my (not so techie) brother not to unsubscribe astro?

I suggest if your brother can make time and go visit one of their Service Center available. Asking them on the phone, they sure give 1001 excuses.
