Just curious.
"Based on the sound research, many review papers have concluded 0.82g/lb is the upper limit at which protein intake benefits body composition (Phillips & Van Loon, 2011). This recommendation often includes a double 95% confidence level, meaning they took the highest mean intake at which benefits were still observed and then added two standard deviations to that level to make absolutely sure all possible benefits from additional protein intake are utilized. As such, this is already overdoing it and consuming 1g/lb ‘to be safe’ doesn’t make any sense. 0.82g/lb is already very safe."
This puts me at only 126g of protein intake per day.
List out below information of yourself.

Me too read this research many times before.
I consume around 140g protein per day.
I'm 141lbs at 20%. Giving a lean mass of 112.8, and thus I only actually need 90grams of protein.

Your bodyweight : 59kg Your fat%: 12%~14% Your protein intake: 110g~140g
0.8g/lb is safe indeed for for muscle but not for recovery. If my intensity is high, I consume more.

QUOTE(Armesh @ Sep 26 2014, 03:48 PM) Wow impressive stats, how long you been training? Got 1000 lbs total? haha barely , only 706lbs . My latest PR here are : Deadlifts = 120kg / 265lbs for 6 reps max Squats = 120kg / 265lbs 4 reps max Bench = 80kg / 176lbs 4 reps max started my gym membership a year ago , worked out in my house for almost 2 years . Started whole journey when I was 15 years of age. The Bf% isn't accurate though , it's around that range This post has been edited by kshen: Sep 26 2014, 07:46 PM

.8-1g/lb. Because that's just how much I get from my food, and not that I'm aiming for upwards of 0.8.

Bodyweight: 75kg Fat%: 15-17% Protein intake: 115-120grms generally.
For me, as I'm bulking, calories is more important than getting the protein intake. Only when I cut, would I pay more notice to my macros because with the more limited calories intake, the macros are more important in fueling one for the workout and growing.

Your bodyweight : Your fat%: Your protein intake: Doesn't it depend on lean body weight? 2 guys maybe the same weight, but one may be working out and is lean / muscular and another one who is not working out at all and obese. The obese one may not really benefit from the same amount of protein from the guy who works out, despite having the same weight?

But you're right on the obese and active comparison..
