Base on my experience even those who started with negative objectivity will maybe turn our positively. My true experience in different forum last time I always join these debates especially related to Islam and there was one guy after maybe a year finally announce that he became a muslim. Betul ker tak tk tahu la. Wallahualam.

Yang best because that's basically an international forum so can have muslims from all over the world. I also learn a lot of things from there and from there also generate interest to actually understand and finally becoming a practicing muslim. smile.gif

If you're looking into the campaigns of Khalid Al Waleed during Uhud Battle to Riddha Wars and Rashidun campaigns versus the Sassanids and Byzantine, then I'd recommend The Sword of
Allah - Khalid bin Al-Waleed by Gen. (Ret) AI Akram  (of Pakistani Army)

Thanks. I'm looking more into visual stuff actually as I'm planning to mod a game to add those 2 historical battles. Would love to know the tactics, formations, the weapons, army composition, armour etc. There's lots of info and record with regards to Romans and Persians though but couldn't find any on the Rashidun army.

because i think the khutbah sometimes can be racist and sectarian. but i like to come early coz the environment is peaceful.

most people are sleeping anyway, so as muslim i think i should make full use of my valuable time like Allah has mentioned in Surah Al-Asr.

"English is a Germanic language formed by a fusion of Old English and Norse. If you want to talk about religion or science or law or medicine you must use Latinate words (from French or Latin) and a smattering of Greek. English is basically a skinny barely functional body of Germanic (bones, basic organs and muscles) with a huge overgrowth and brain of Latin and Greek words, more than trebling it in size. Sort of like a massive genius head crab perched on a hillbilly."

QUOTE(edvey @ May 31 2015, 01:48 AM)
dear brothers

hmm idk if i can ask here in this thread. i am having a difficult time atm. i would love it if i can hear some input from you all. better if there is first hand experience frm anyone here.

question: what do u say on love after marriage?

by any chance can i say that you canot run away if or not the jodoh remains till jannah? can i say it is no different whether you know or love your partner before/after nikah?

is it a good decision to getting to know your so called other half after nikah? tbh, idk what to expect out of this arrangment besides that i think i needed a leader and a bff. idk what he's like. idk whether we're going to click. idk if he likes what i like. idk if he can tahan w my antics and the other way round. basically u can say i dont have the slightest idea what this person is going to be like besides that he dont skip his prayer that so i heard. does that suffice?

although i admit, i rather do love after marriage should there be someone who is in the same ship as i am and i been telling this to fellow friends, i never think it really happens. guess this is not an easy business and ive got panicked attacks whenever i think abt this now.  rclxub.gif

i have yet go with istikharah. actually idk how to do it. i am still reading on the net but i dont understand it so am going to ask a friend how she did it and how the guide from Allah will come. im really worried with myself cos i have been so comfortable going solo for whole life. and being a fickle minded person, i am afraid if i would call off this arrangement when everything's ready.

fyi, i have yet to meet the fella. will do soon maybe.

Besides love (and lust obviously) what helps maintain longevity is definitely friendship. Obviously there's a different level of friendship between sposes and between friends.

QUOTE(Hunther @ May 23 2015, 05:15 PM)
Kyai Haji Abdurrahman Wahid, ex-President of Indonesia and ex-Chairman of largest Muslim organisation in the world had an interesting say on apostasy:
"In examining the issue of blasphemy and apostasy laws, it is thus vital that we differentiate between the Qur’an – from which much of the raw material for producing Islamic law is derived – and the law itself. For while its revelatory inspiration is divine, Islamic law is man-made and thus subject to human interpretation and revision.
For example, punishment for apostasy is merely the legacy of historical circumstances and political calculations stretching back to the early days of Islam, when apostasy generally coincided with desertion from the Caliph’s army and/or rejection of his authority, and thus constituted treason or rebellion. The embedding (i.e., codification) of harsh punishments for apostasy into Islamic law must be recognized as an historical and political by-product of these circumstances framed in accordance with human calculations and expediency, rather than assuming that Islam, and shari’a, must forever dictate punishment for changing one’s religion."

What are your thought on this? smile.gif
*
Yes. During the prophet's time the apostates who were sentence to death are those who actually left the islamic community and joining back the Quraish. However not all were actually executed. One even became the governor of Egypt later on.

Brothers, want to ask opinions regarding this ayat. It is mention here in this translation that in solat, it is required to know what we are actually saying. But all these while, it seems like  the priority is more on verbal in arabic only. Not emphasize on the meaning of what we say in solat. For me, i think this is why the solat is nothing more than 'perbuatan' only for some. Not giving oneself fully when praying.

What do you guys think? is this what happens in non-arabic speaking country mostly?
*

QUOTE(kheru @ Jun 22 2015, 03:50 PM)
kau suruh ikut al-quran tapi kau suruh ikut kitab lain, yang terang-terang dalam al quran kata nasarani dan dah yahudi suka mengubah mengikut selere dia, mana satu yang kau nak pegang ni?

Perhatikan Firman Allah Ini.
Apakah kamu masih mengharapkan mereka (Bani Israel) akan percaya kepadamu, padahal segolongan dari mereka mendengar Firman Allah, lalu mereka mengubahnya setelah mereka memahaminya, sedang mereka mengetahui? (QS. 2:75)

(QS. 2:79)

Just want to share this since my thread at /k was deleted.

R U M A H K I T A
Kita bukan penduduk bumi,
Dunia bukan rumah kita, maka jangan cari kesenangan dunia.
Begitu beratkah memenuhi harapanNya?
Kita bukan penduduk bumi,
kita penduduk syurga.
Bumi hanyalah perjalanan.

Allah bukan cakap bahasa Arab saja.

QUOTE(Galileo Kat Mana? @ Sep 16 2015, 09:09 AM)
Lepas difikir2, saya rasa dia betul.

Ramai yg tak tahu kewujudan manusia kuno (Homo Habilis, Homo Erectus, Homo Neanderthalensis dsb).

Soalan:
1. Nabi Adam dan Hawa spesis apa? Homo Habilis, Homo Erectus, atau pun Homo Sapien?
*
Homo Sapeins.

"This world with all the created things in it has a certain order and solid construction. It shows nexuses between causes and things caused, combinations of some parts of creation with others, and transformations of some existent things into others, in a pattern that is both remarkable and endless.

One should then take a look at the world of creation. It started out from the minerals and progressed, in an ingenious, gradual manner, to plants and animals. The last stage of minerals is connected with the first stage of plants, such as herbs and seedless plants. The last stage of plants, such as palms and vines, is connected with the first stage of animals, such as snails and shellfish which have only the power of touch. The word 'connection' with regard to these created things means that the last stage of each group is fully prepared to become the first stage of the newest group.

The animal world then widens, its species become numerous, and, in a gradual process of creation, it finally leads to man, who is able to think and reflect. The higher stage of man is reached from the world of monkeys, in which both sagacity and perception are found, but which has not reached the stage of actual reflection and thinking. At this point we come to the first stage of man. This is as far as our (physical) observation extends.
"

"We explained there that the whole of existence in (all) its simple and composite worlds is arranged in a natural order of ascent and descent, so that everything constitutes an uninterrupted continuum. The essences at the end of each particular stage of the worlds are by nature prepared to be transformed into the essence adjacent to them, either above or below them. This is the case with the simple material elements; it is the case with palms and vines, (which constitute) the last stage of plants, in their relation to snails and shellfish, (which constitute) the (lowest) stage of animals. It is also the case with monkeys, creatures combining in themselves cleverness and perception, in their relation to man, the being who has the ability to think and to reflect. The preparedness (for transformation) that exists on either side, at each stage of the worlds, is meant when (we speak about) their connection.

Plants do not have the same fineness and power that animals have. Therefore, the sages rarely turned to them. Animals are the last and final stage of the three permutations. Minerals turn into plants, and plants into animals, but animals cannot turn into anything finer than themselves.
"

Sebenarnya, Ibn Khaldun bukan org yg pertama menulis pasal evolusi. Ada lagi yg terdahulu seperti:
- Al-Jahiz (776 - 869)
- Ibn Miskawayh (932-1030)
- Al-Haitham (965 - 1040)
- Al-Biruni (973-1048)
- Nasir al-Din al-Tusi (1201 - 1274)
- Ibn Kathir (1301 - 1373)
dsb.

Al-Jahiz pernah menulis:
"Animals engage in a struggle for existence; for resources, to avoid being eaten and to breed. Environmental factors influence organisms to develop new characteristics to ensure survival, thus transforming into new species. Animals that survive to breed can pass on their successful characteristics to offspring."

Nampak tak perbezaan ilmu org Islam dahulu dgn org Islam zaman sekarang?

Selamat mencari kebenaran.
*
True. However modern evolution concept takes God out of the equation.

Darwin wrote the piece at the time when the church is no longer respected and the separation between state and church are happening throughout of Europe especially after the French revolution where Europeans only beginning to believe in the concept of merit is individual and not because whether you're a commoner or nobility/clergy. You are what you are and not what your father was (a concept which already existed in Islam through the Qur'an but sadly not practiced in the muslim world today).

I use to have a good discussion regarding evolution in Islam in another forum (twcenter.net under ethos, mores section). Ramai muslims from all over the worls took part. Very interesting thread there.
