Okay, I've just cancelled my Astro which I subscribed since 10+ years ago.
They called me and ask to return the decoder, card and etc to them, or face Rm500 fine.
Do I really have to deliver the stuff to their office? doh.gif

Unfortunately you do. Until two years ago you only had to return the smartcard. But when i canceled another one five months ago, i was asked to return the decoder as well besides the smartcard.

this was what i was wondering about...

aren't they supposed to let ex-customers keep decoder-card-dish-cables so that they get free njoi for publicity?

what happened? change of hearts?

anyway, i terminated, returned nothing, they asked nothing, about 9 months ago.

AFAIK the newer byond boxes are "loaned" to the customer so technically they can take them back if you stop subscribing. However normally they'll let you keep the box so that you can quickly re-subscribe to them in the future (and I guess give you the NJOI thingy in the meantime).

They almost certainly wouldn't take the wiring back (I think that belongs to the customer anyway so they have no right to). I also doubt they'd take the dish back either as it's more hassle than it is worth and discourages the customer from re-subscribing in the future.

Despite all that, if they tell you that you have to deliver the stb to them I'd tell them to f*** off and come and collect it from your house at a time that is convenient to you. Or tell them to send you a postage-paid box to post it to them.

Check the astro web page term and condition!
I'm though after 1ys use of Astro, all the equipment should belong to customer, except smart card!

l'm also shocked when Astro said need to return the decoder when I called them to terminate my Astro..but after checking their TnC, it does says that u have to return the decoder..but u can ask them to collect it for u.. Please check Clause 8 on Astro TnC

http://www.astro.com.my/portal/subscriber-...s-conditions-2/

Also they said that they will give me 3 mths free if i continue the subscription for another 3 mths (3 mths pay + 3 mths free)..I haven't decide yet whether to continue or not..anyone got the same promo as I'm?

My house got ASTRO for 3 years now. We would like to unsubscribe, and change to NJOI instead, since nobody watch TV that much.

My brother just called Astro and they said the promotion is off? Cannot be done? whatthefak? What promotion? Or its just a scam so my (not so techie) brother not to unsubscribe astro?
