Tips to Survive Major Steam Sales

Rule #1:
From now until the LAST DAY of the sale, if a game is on sale as a daily deal or flash deal, you can buy it. If it is only "on sale" through the entire sale, pass. Do not buy. Save your money (you may need it).

Rule #2:
Check each day for the daily deals, and monitor flash deals. As games come up that you want, you can get them. Just continue to exercise self control for games that are not a daily/flash deal.

Rule #3:
You can purchase the large packs, such as the THQ pack or Square-Enix/Eidos pack at any time if you wish. It is extremely unlikely that those bundles will be discounted any further, even though individual games in those packs may become daily deals. If you want a bundle, go for it. Lots of games, excellent price.

Rule #4:
On the LAST DAY of the sale, Steam traditionally makes its daily deals an encore of the most popular daily deals from the previous days. Go nuts. Buy everything you wanted. Other games are almost never on the daily deals during the last day, at this point, it is safe to buy anything else you've been waiting on.

DS4 can play on PC?

Heard you can use DS4 as the driver is fully functional with all the features.

Even the touch pad in the middle can be used as mouse if you really want to.

come support this game in greenlight.

http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/file...t=battle+realms

I still considering pledge US35 for this. A lot of strategy on this card game.
*
Looks terrible to be honest.

The UI, the art assets feels very outdated. And how many TCG do we need.

Bring on Battle Realms remake instead with proper widescreen and no buggy shadows.

Still alpha, do you think they able to reach the target?
*
Highly don't they will reach their goal. It isn't compelling and at least for me, I am having kickstarter fatigue.

Just finished Dawn of War. I so want to get Dawn of War 2!! I heard there was a complete pack on Amazon last time. Hope there's a discount again for DoW 2
*
There is also Winter Assault and Dark Crusade if you want more decent campaigns. Soulstorm is only good for comp stomps and also mods that adds new races.

For Dawn of War 2, I recommend you to start from Dawn of War 2, then Chaos Rising then Retribution. Chaos Rising is worth playing twice, as you can either be loyal to the Emperor or turn into Chaos. Retribution, I think the campaign is decently fun for a few playthrough if you want story despite the missions are the same. I think Orks has the best campaign as they are really funny. Chaos, Imperial Guard and Eldar arent too bad. Space Marine is a bit dull but it acts as a closure to the whole Dawn of War 2 story. I did not like Tyranids campaign, it was boring but it is quite fun to play as a swarm of monsters.

Dawn of War 2 gameplay is quite different though.

Speaking of Warhammer, I really cant wait for Space Hulk Ascension.

Ohh thanks. Yeah very interested in the campaigns and lore. Want to see what happens to blood ravens after that. Yeah I played the demo for dow2. Quite interesting change. Think I prefer it over dow1, as I rather micromanage instead of ordering one group o do something then zoom to another part of the map
I really hope space hulk : deathwing won't be disappointing.
*
Do get Winter Assault and Dark Crusade if you want more quality campaign. I think COH1 also have great missions.

All DoW2 campaigns are pretty fun, IMO.

DoW1's large armies is part of the charm of the game. Warhammer battles are supposed to be massive with a lot of units.

I was talking about this Space Hulk, not the FPS one. It uses Space Hulks core gameplay but it is modified so it plays more like XCOM with persistent armies and perma death.

Regardless which, I still both of them are good. Love the Space Hulk board game and game adaptation.

im not really like Diablo 3, used to spent a lot of time on hunting godlike eq, now after loot 2.0, makes all my eq looks like a joke  sweat.gif

let's say if i re-hunt again for godlike eq, god knows if there is any loot 3.0, all my efforts will gone again, well, maybe this is MMORPG cycle
*
Well, your pre-loot 2.0 items are pretty much useless to be honest, you'll be replacing them really quickly after you play with loot 2.0.

i always wanted to experience turn based strategy games like civilization,  endless legend... etc

which one is the best?
*
Civilization V is your best bet, but make sure you get the complete edition as the 2 expansions are extremely crucial for your enjoyment. Civ 4 is not bad too, if you want a lot of good mods.

You can also try Endless Space that is a lot more expanded than Endless Dungeon. At least that is a truly finished game, compared to Endless Legend. Endless Legend is promising but it is having some teething issues of a typical modern 4X games where is lacking in some features and polish considering it was just launched a few days ago. I guess a few major patches, maybe an expansion, then, it will be great.

There is also Galactic Civilization 2 which is also a completed game. Has the best AI among most 4X and also interestingly complex. Gal Civ 3 is promising but that one is early access. Stardock does excellent Early Access so you can count on that they will probably finish the game.

Heroes 6 is decent but I havent played much of it.Also can try Sword of the Stars I is also pretty damn good, it is more like Total War with turned based strategic layer with Homeworld style 3D combat.

I have been playing a lot of Age of Wonders 3, it feels more like a RPG with explorable world than a proper 4X because the empire building is really lacking. The developers are still actively patching so hopefully it will be fantastic one day.

There are also XCOM-like TBS with focus on small squads, such as the new XCOM. Klei's Invisible Inc is great too as instead of murdering aliens, you are sneaking through some corporates office trying to steal stuff. Be warned that it is Early Access now, Klei will finish the game and you might see an expansion or 2. They are trustable as they are the developers behind Dont Starve which had a major expansion and also a mutliplayer patch soon. I absolutely love this studio to be honest.

Can try Xenonaunt which is modern remake of the 1994 XCOM. Havent played it so no comment.

Also, Space Hulk is decent too, if you played the board game before. It is a claustrophobic version of XCOM where you command a squad of Terminators against a bunch of creepy aliens in narrow corridors. Think something like Aliens. However, it is based on the table top rules so it might be a bit too random for some. I find it alright though and quite enjoyable despite it is really barebones. Their upcoming game, Space Hulk Ascension should fix a lot of issues in the first game.

Never played any grand strategy so cant comment. Crusader Kings 2 should be one of the best out there.

If you really bought all of those games above, good luck. I dont know how many years will you spend on those games. lol.

Once you tried it, you'll never go back to Civ-like games or even 4X games like Sins of a Solar Empire.
*
Sins of Solar Empire isnt really a 4X to be honest.

It is just Supreme Commander in Space with some 4X elements. It still plays like a really slow RTS.

True. Should've mentioned GalCiv2 as a proper 4X game. However I still find current 4X games as well as Civ-like games to be kid-ish compared to Grand Strategy games.

EU4 and Victoria 2 really spoiled me. Once you go Grand Strategy, you can't go back sadly. sad.gif

Grand strategies looked like spreadsheets with more colors.

I look at spreadsheets everyday and the last thing I want to see is more spreadsheets at home, except with colors and its fun.

True. The graphics look very bland. Though the same can be said with games like FTL. Once you get past the graphics the depth of the game can be 10x more than what you can get with Civ. In the end graphics is just an interface. What you enjoy the most in some games are the depth and the fun from strategies you devise.

These don't look like spreadsheets though:
*
The problem is I am really not a fan of history. If there is a sci fi or fantasy version, i'll be a lot more interested in it as I am also not really a huge fan of Civ's historic gameplay. I only clocked like 15 hours with Civ with BNW while I clocked 200 hours on Sins, 50 with Endless Space and 30 with AoW3 despite I just started last week. It is not just the interface but also the general presentation of it gives a spreadsheet vibe. Also, it is not an easy game to get into which I really dont want to spend 100 hours to learn how to play it at its bare basics.

Sure it is far deeper than Civ but that does not mean Civ is terrible. You dont have to be like those people who had enjoyed a deeper games, such as Assetto Corsa for a racing fan, then, go on and tell people that NFS or Dirt is trash because it isnt deep enough. Different games have different merits where having deepest mechanics does not mean it is the best.

FTL has a certain charm to it's art style along with the soundtrack, and also it's unique gameplay. Thats completely different, IMO.

Actually, I would rather have the English audio than Japanese audio as I won't have to constantly read the subtitles.
*
The English audio is really cringe worthy.

I think FF is the only game I want it in Jap. Maybe Dynasty Warriors too cause they sound more badass in Japanese.

For me, English Dub will never be able to express the feelings as well as Japanese audio. It's just no where near the quality of the Japanese Language. Probably, partly because I'm always watching anime with Jap audio and english subs and totally despise English dubbed anime, so the level of immersion into the story and characters would be much better IMHO

*
The English voice acting is pretty terrible IMO. They sound remotely like Japanese and it feels it isnt dubbed very well.

A better example of English voice acting for an Asian based game would be Sleeping Dogs. That one is recorded pretty well without losing the HK accent.

I remember watching my housemate playing FF13-2. I left after 15 minutes. I just cant stand Lighting's English voice actor.

It just feels, wrong. Like the voice actor is bored or something. sweat.gif

I did the math, it is actually worth getting a gaming laptop than 2 desktops. At least for my case between Australia and Malaysia.

I think I should really buy an Occulus Rift. This video really poisoned me.

Especially when he got into an accident at 2:40. He literally jumped from his seat.

pCARS and Elite. Can say bye bye to outside then.

It is more like Batman Arkham games i think.

Attack and counter attack but i think its more fluid.

So Monolith actually made something great after almost a decade of crappy games. Thats quite a relieve as I loved FEAR 1 and NOLF.

Very good ratings for a game based on movie / book license.
*
I dont think it is based on the LOTR books. The game's lore actually went against the book's lore if I am not wrong where the game had a huge out roar that WB is changing it drastically.

I think this is just a game with LOTR by name, if you are a fan of the books.
