Hi, i bought some thing from a seller online and i transferred to his account last week. He contacted to me through whatsapp at first and he got good reviews so i trusted him. But now he won't reply me anymore and did not sent any details about the thing.
Is there any way that i can retrieve back the money that i have transferred?
I used public bank and his account is Maybank. I know i should have at first pay deposit and so on but things have happened now and i just need to know what i should do next.
Thank you.
If there's any Maybank banker here, it would be nice.

If the transaction was for an ebay payment, why didn't you pay through ebay's Paypal account?
In that case ebay would've helped..
Wish the seller return the money or send you the item, at least sad.gif

yes u can report police but let me bet 100% u wont get back refund and police will not care about it.. i got scammed RM5k, my uncle got scammer RM52k last year.. the conclusion is u wont get back ur money but move on. Just take it as donation smile.gif

no need waste time to report police cause u only waste your own time + money to get nothing ,

There is nothing much you can do. Bank won't disclose any information unless it's a legal case. If they simply disclose information based on random people claiming that they got scammed, that wouldn't be fair would it?

This is the risk with online buying/selling. There are lots of scam cases going on and the seller/buyer can easily just vanish like that. If you confirm that you got scammed, post the details of the person online and everywhere. Bank account, name, handphone number, how he contacted you, what he said, and how he did not response to any of your message. Create awareness. Other people smart enough will be able to notice this before they decide to make a purchase with the seller.

Always google the bank account number, handphone number before making any purchases. Only buy from sellers that have a good GENUINE track record. If it's a large purchase and you're buying from a new seller, insist on COD or just find another seller.

On another note, some buyers can be very impatient. They expect their messages replied immediately, money to be transferred immediately and receive the goods the next day. Interbank transfers usually takes some time to clear, and it won't clear over the weekend. Also, do keep in mind that not all online sellers are full time sellers. A lot of them are doing this as a part time business and they have a life outside too.

As people telling me that i should post his details here to warn the others, so i will do it now.

Bank account: Maybank
Account number: 114785106708
Account name: Hoi Kar Yee
Phone number: 0124073243
[SIZE=7]

His name in eBay was caesarapes. And what he was selling was iPhone 5s. And it costed RM1580. His account in eBay was blocked by eBay and so his listing went disappeared.

As iPhone 6 is out and i was totally dumb enough to trust this guy. Normally the deals i had in eBay was alright. I'm still new in online shopping and i guess this is a very good lesson for me.
However, who knows this guy. Can you please help me to track him? He is still active in whatsapp but he will not reply or answer any calls.
Your help will be much appreciated.

always use paypal or some other 3rd party to transfer online, they help protect you from scammers.

at anytime if you report to paypal the merchant scam you, they will almost 100% refund you.

thats why a lot of scammers also use paypal to buy things, after receive item, report as scam, get money back and get item also.

paypal focus protecting the buyers more.

For my advice, you still can shop online but make sure use the protected payment so you can get refund..

Ebay, Aliexpress, Lelong use protected payment

But for Mudah. My, COD is the best....

We could get refund but not maximum smile.gif The other guy opened a case and eBay is refunding him only RM650 whereas he paid 2800. So it's unfair but for eBay it's fair enough. As i paid 1500 so if i get the same amount, it's almost half of what i have paid.
