Hello guys, does anyone here experienced nosebleeds from taking whey protein?

Here is my story:

For about 6 months, I used to take about 4~5 scoops whey protein per day, and during those periods I've been experiencing frequent nosebleeds, probably once or twice fortnightly. Then I lowered the intake for the last 2 months, and sometimes not taking any, the nosebleed stopped completely. I stopped because my supply was running out and I didn't go buy a new one.

Last week I just bought a new pack, decided to bump up the intake again back to 4~5 scoops per day, and I've had 3 nosebleeds already. Any comments? Arsenic poisoning? I drink 2.5 liters to 3 liters of filtered water per day.

I have been drinking Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard 100% Whey protein.

Should I stop?

Thanks icon_question.gif

Please consult your physician/doctor first before taking any more.

Its abnormal for this to happen, however everyone's body is different.

My guess is you need to drink a lot more water as those protein powder tends to be very dry.

First consult doctor like what others suggested. Are you working out hard enough and taking enough fluid?

My bodyweight is at 70kg, height 170cm. The reasonw hy i take 5 scoop is because i need to intake 100grams of protein from supplements. my daily dietary intake only allows me up to 50~60grams of protein from food. Isit overdosage already?

Water consumption requirement is different for every person. I drink about 5L per day, otherwise I will feel sick. If you drank 2-3L daily prior to the whey protein intake, then maybe you need to up another 30-50% water intake daily. Just my guess. You should know your own body better. Cheers. smile.gif

Protein needed (grams) = 0.8 * LEAN body mass.

Yes u are overdosing on protein.

I eat 100grams of chicken breast a day, 3 eggs, 500ml milk and only need 1.5 scoop of whey to meet my protein needs.
