Let's hope this is like the days when Athlon XP was launched and they are fighting life and death with Intel to be the first to break the Ghz barrier.

Yeah... more especially if it is 90% of the performance and 70% of the price.

Yeah, 8-core for the price of a quad core. Single core performance good or not. Still mind blowing.

I don't think Intel is like Apple and AMD is Samsung or Google for that matter.

It is just that Intel needs AMD to stay competitive in the performance front of things. Without AMD, you see them veering into optimization, low power efficient processors and stuff. Whether it is just delay tactics or not wanting to spend money where they think they should be buying time. I don't know.

But, Intel needs AMD to push them. That is a fact. Used to be a fact back then, still a fact by now.

I suppose I'll migrate over to Ryzen 5 at the end of this year or so? When stocks are readily available and prices stabilized. That is if our RM didn't get shot to hell, that is. Pretty much have a general checklist on hand, well, roughly.

Okay, maybe my expectations were quite different (but not that different from many). In the end, it didn't quite get where I wanted it ('gaming performance' in particular still behind Intel).

Reading the reviews, praise for the sheer power of Ryzen for content creators, which is not something I would be interested in. No way this is a 5/5 from me, just my opinion.

AMD has been teasing Ryzen as back to high performance market and great for content creator. It is user's wrong perception that high performance must means gaming.

Also should not dismiss Ryzen's lack of performance in gaming now as conclusion. For so many years, AMD been missing from high end gaming market, so game developer didnt spend much resource/time to optimize their game for AMD. AMD claimed they're working with developers now to optimize their game, how to see how 'far' these optimization can help 

As previous, if you're pure gamer looking for upgrade, Kabylake i5/i7 still best option, proper optimization + high clock speed out of box.

Well if you go higher resolution, the gap diminishes.

If you are running graphics card like GTX 1060 and below, the gap is negligible.

I'm the type that doesn't feel good when my GPU is not running at max possible speed.

But yeah actually once it hits 60fps range no one cares. As long as gaming janji smooth.

im still with my old 4770k, a new mobo and cpu will cost a bomb nowdays, just look at DDR4 prices geez
