Your link points to a website that stated it was some of the factory apps (google apps) that were updated.

Are you rooted? Then try freeze some of the apps and do test.

Also, have you tried this:

You need third party apps manager to freeze. I use rom toolbox pro (paid), not sure if the free one can freeze or not. If you have paid TB (pro version), you can use that to freeze also.

Am not on either of the roms on my N5 (rastakat), but I can roughly tell you from my experience using both on my N7 (PA > Carbon (was on carbon for quite some time) > PA)

Carbon cherry picks features from other roms and merge it with their build.
You can check roughly compare features through carbon site and pa features @ xda.

Both are decent, carbon has more features if you want to compare that. Never been on either stock kernel so I can't comment on that (elementalx). But performance wise, both are equally stable.

However, I'm not on rascarlo's (the main dev for rastakat) build, am on lichti's build (rastakat rom is open source so others take it and build theirs)
Rastakat is more towards "vanilla", so you won't find lots of features pack in (just some). However, the rom is one of the smoothest I've came across.

Lots of rom at xda are good tbh, however I try to stay away from roms with CM commits (CAF).
I mostly test roms that are at the "original dev" subforum (guilty tongue.gif)

Very similar in my experience: vanir, Purity (works closely with trinity kernel), slimkat, omni

I was on Cataclysm rom (think dev abandoned it) for quite some time.

When you have time and would like to test roms, recommend to make 1 full nandroid backup then proceed to wipe phone and flash flash laugh.gif

All roms are pretty good in my opinion. I like the minimal approach though smile.gif

For stock: you can try reflash the whole img from factory
So.. what rom were you on? Cause I saw you were on elementalX-cm, means its for CAF(-derived) roms only. If you flash it on AOSP roms, you will have bootloop.
ElementalX kernel is pretty good.

I was hoping for a white N5, since the release of the white N4. But was skeptical since I wanted it all white.
I've come to like the stormtrooper/oreo black and white combination along the way.
Also, me likey the white speaker grill in front.
