Yes, that's why I pointed out user experience in my 2nd sentence. Even a normal iPhone user also prefer Nexus 5, who previously won't consider other phones. In fact if the new Nexus 6 has a bigger battery I would not hesitate to replace my Oneplus One.

I believe the pupose of a Nexus device is for user to experience an android device the way google want it to be. Rooting and flashing is an extra for those who wanted more from the device.

Kinda have to disagree. One of my friends called me few days ago and he asked if he should stick to iPhone (coming from iPhone 4) or try Android. I said I don't know his usage and preferences. He did his research and filtered everything else except the Nexus 5.
Only reason when I asked why. He wanted pure Android experiences, coming from iOS. He had no knowledge of root and flash, etc.
It wasn't me who recommended this phone. The point is, Nexus has reached to the point that even normal users are interested in this. The whole point is to be able to do what normal phones can do, with pure Android experiences, not having to worry to flash this or that.

Yeah. It's a choice. Not like few years back where you must root for smoother UI and performance optimizations.

I've never outright reject it but stated "wouldn't recommend". If people have other opinions, it's fine as like
LuffyPSP said, now it's a choice. And I kinda partially agree on
kllam statement.
Before this, I've recommended
Nexus phoneNexus 5 to my peeps and relatives (some already have N5), but they always, ALWAYS complain to me like the battery is bad, camera sucks, lacks of this and that (features). So I told them that they can customize it, have better battery life, (blah blah), with root and stuff. And they said no cause of warranty, this and that
, no experience with root/flashing, and so I got bored and recommend other phones.
I'll still stick to my opinion that I "wouldn't recommend" to consumers who do not plan to root/flash (flash not limited to roms, it can be mods as well). However, if you feel that it's okay, then it's okay.
Hey, I'm not forcing anyone here to accept anything. It's my personal opinion and it's yours

If do not agree to mine, then it's fine as well
