Go search what is higher high lower high πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ
Uptrend is because USD is weakening because of expected cuts and recession fears πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ

You only start buying Gold when USD is strengthening and sell upon changing trend of USD appreciation
*
I think there are errors in your statement above;

You only start buying Gold when DXY is weakening and sell when DXY is strengthening.

Usually DXY is used instead of USD to gauge the strength of USD with comparison to a basket of currencies.

It's matter of perspective, Unker's here bought gold 2008, 2009, 2020...so now when DXY weakening, gold price is expected to go up further (although in most other currencies is already UP, UP)..so when time comes...Unker's sell, while Newbies buy.

Make sense?
*
Market dropped on the year 2008/9 (GF recession) and 2020 (Feb/March?) which you made your purchase. When market goes into recession, every asset class including gold will drop.

Yes, agreed buy low sell high is always good regardless of market conditions so long as you are in the green.

Gold will drop, but usually wont drop so much as govts will be forced to stimulate and expand money supply.
*
Perhaps, but there is always a strong inverse relationship between DXY and gold

The reason why not using DXY because GLD and GLDM is traded in USD

But the correlation for broader market and macro are always using DXY as a broad stick and it is to compare using USD rather than the complicated calculation basket of DXY πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ
*
Of course every assets is price in USD.

USD, like any other currencies fluctuates, so how do you really judge its strength? Hence the use of DXY.

There is nothing complicated about using DXY as this is an index where data is readily available in any trading platforms if you are not already aware.

It is an index with weighted basket hence it is difficult to calculate actual strength unlike pure RM to USD

Hence which it is easier to go direct from RM to USD instead of using DXY as the strength it is highly correlated with EUR mostly πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ
*

'You only start buying Gold when DXY is weakening and sell when DXY is strengthening'

This DXY is just one of many indicators which you could use if you want to look for entry and exit of gold investing, just to keep it simple.

To me no point looking at DXY for entry and exit as you are using RM to be converted to USD and vice Versa πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ for profits in the end

DXY is only good for strength indicator and straight USD to trade accounts
*
Ok, I can see that you are judging the strength of USD w.r.t to MYR... sweat.gif let's leave this here as you seemed very fixated on this perspective, whether it's correct or not, it's your money on the table, not mine.

Anyway, just sharing my thoughts icon_rolleyes.gif

Do you have any good safe/vault storage companies here in Msia which you recommend, which you find fees competitive? Not those located in malls/office buildings/banks.

Have you enquired with the local banks....some of them offer safe deposit box services.
Only downside is these are to be self-insured for the items you store there.
*
No, not keen on safe deposits located in banks, because no full access except during banking hours. Same goes to the ones located in malls or office buildings.

In fact cheaper to buy a safe and make sure that the safe is  cemented down under the bed πŸ˜‚ for protection as walls to easy to guess
*
If secret safe is accidentally revealed or exposed, how is this safe? Just need a knife on your throat or family members to make you open it doh.gif (I need to use your trademark head slapping icon here, which is very applicable tongue.gif )

Silly to think you need a 24/7 safe when most of them doesn’t operate past 11pm for security purpose πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ otherwise defeat the purpose of a safe
Which is why when you put the safe at home it has to be somewhere really safe like in a panic room πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ where only you can access during emergency πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ
*
Longer access hours and ease of retrieval doh.gif

Safe at home doh.gif

Anybody here bought gold from BullionStar Singapore before ?

I have bought and stored in their vault without taking delivery previously. Later sold off as the price of gold then didn't move much, some more need to factor in the storage cost

Why no paper gold?
*
Because there is counterparty risk; i.e. there is the likelihood that the parties involved in a financial transaction might default on their contractual obligations.

To reduce this risk, only invest in gold ETFs which allow you to take physical delivery of the gold if you are still keen on these. Also there is no guarantee if they have enough physical gold for you to take delivery in case when every investor is rushing to redeem. These ETFs are also located overseas, so shipping/insurance costs need to be taken into consideration
