I was also quite active in ICE and died down as well.

My setup is somewhere pretty decent and I don't plan to upgrade since 2010. Here's a few reasons why. Hope I don't offend anyone.

1. New cars - Default HU comes with navigation, and panels are customized. You have again, to pay crap load to installers for some plastic to fit your Macintosh MX406.

2. Theft - I was afraid of finding my windows on the road and my HU/Amps gone. Although now, I think people are more into laptops..or even your whole car. These days, there is no demand for them anymore - i strongly believe it is due to no.1.

3. Installers - Not many of us do DIY. It's just not our culture unlike the western world. They spend months building everything/anything on their own. We pay people to do it, and that is when we are at the disadvantage. You get chopped if you don't know your stuff. You get chopped even if you know your stuff. I'm sure there are many experiences people can share.

ps. diymobileaudio.com is still very much alive.

4. Community - there was a great community in mycarhifi and another forum. It died, and I don't know why. It could be the above.

5. It then boils down to demand and supply. As the demand becomes smaller, my upgrade plans become slimmer. I can't sell my current setup to upgrade - which is a good thing as I save money tongue.gif. So I stuck to it. It will be just a matter of time that I sell my car together with the setup and go with the new car's default HU.

Siapa tu?

Those were the days... when I started as a basshead... biggrin.gif

Came out of retirement recently... to finish my unfulfilled dreams of having a proper front 3 way setup...

On the way... A-pillar is on the careful hands of Famous Audio, JB.

Never trust a store that still sells you a pre-amp.
