If my Nexus 4 die today most probably I'll buy Xperia Z3 Compact.Godlike battery life with good screen size/spec.

QUOTE(annoymous1234 @ Sep 21 2014, 12:50 AM) I't not a fan of big size phone.QUOTE(tvcat @ Sep 21 2014, 12:43 PM) why not LG G2? the spec is better and not that expensive. Don't like the back button placement & LG's software support stinks.got 1 for my dad, really good. almost same size with n4 but with bigger screen. true that if u r using 3G then the battery life would be bad, but i blame our telecom for poor optimization/deployment of their 3G infrastructure. compact QUOTE(Ah hao @ Sep 21 2014, 04:20 PM) while u all are discussing what hp to jump... am i the only n4 user who still waiting for Android L ? I'm waiting to see how Android L can improve N4.But the battery in N4 don't really satisfy my needs these days. So I;m looking for a new device. Plan to keep N4 though. |

QUOTE(NightFelix @ Oct 9 2014, 11:20 PM) Z3C is probably the best alternative for those who want high end <5" device. But Sony's software performance and support can be questionable sometimes. Quite a lot people want Z3C with AOSP & make it sort of de facto Nexus device because Google going to release giant Nexus soon. Unfortunately while Sony is bit more active with AOSP support compared to other OEM, they tend to DRM quite a lot sh*t. Unlocking bootloader reduce the low light camera performance. They might be releasing official AOSP for Sony's high end devices. I'll wait and see. My Nexus 4 is showing it's age lately & the camera quality is well.... bit on crappy side. There aren't many devices that suit my need since I prefer smaller & more "open" devices. |

QUOTE(NightFelix @ Oct 10 2014, 12:00 AM) Moto X but battery life are big left down and as well camera performance are so so as well. I also wait longer a bit and see how Sony end this Q4 of year 2014. Lets see how quick Sony gonna roll out the Android L compare to other OEM. Moto X camera is decent but battery is real disappointment. I kinda expected Droid Maxx like battery life but as soon as I saw the 2300mA battery, I know it won't be possible. |

QUOTE(shenglimzdavid @ Oct 10 2014, 12:17 PM) Showing its age as in quite laggy to open and close apps or physical issues? my Nexus 4 would probably last another year till I could service off my debts first I don't have any issue regarding the performance. I've modded my Nexus 4 to suit my need.Battery life isn't as good as it was when I 1st got it (not that the battery life of Nexus 4 ever been spectacular) & the camera.... Let's just say I don't take many pictures with my N4 nowdays. |

QUOTE(kg patikang ulu @ Oct 14 2014, 09:23 PM) Long story:Nexus 4 is using APQ8064 SOC which is not an integrated SOC. Unlike MSM series SOC, APQ is missing modems so OEMs add modems later on. The way LG add the modem in N4 is different from other APQ8064-based devices which means the device is unable to provide enough power to power otg based hardwares. There are custom kernel which sort of adds OTG support via external power. Using this kernel you need to have input usb adapter in which the 1st one connects to external power (example: powerbank) & the another one connects to the microUSB in phone. Short story: OTG is not supported properly in N4. You need 3rd party kernel to enable OTG & you need special USB cable & powerbank. |

Anyone know any third party seller who's selling Nexus 4 ori battery?
Before anyone ask me "just upgrade to Nexus 6", no I'm not going to upgrade because of size. |

QUOTE(besiegetank @ Oct 16 2014, 07:01 PM) Should we wait to install 5.0 until it is more compatible with more apps and more stable? My N4 still working fine now, don't want to ruin it For the 1st time Google released dev preview for Android before the final release. I think the regular active developers already updated or in final preparation to release update for their apps. Google will be updating the dev preview tomorrow to check for bugs & apps testing. Majority of the apps runs fine except if you want to use Xposed modules. It's seems like rovo89 is mia & the app haven't been updated to support ART. Otherwise I think users can update to Lolipop without much issues. |

Google Play Services is really annoying. Had to make dirty fix to prevent wakelocks.
Hopefully Google will drop stock image soon so I can start reflash & start from stock back. |

I don't know what happened to "Android Mainlining Project". We been on 3.4 kernel since Android 4.3 I think.
QUOTE The factory image for Fugu (Nexus Player) is available for download. Proprietary Binaries are also available for Fugu. No proprietary binaries are needed for Volantis. The proprietary vendor binaries are on a separate 'vendor' partition, which is flashed with the factory image update, should not change for AOSP development builds (only boot, recovery, and system partitions need to be updated). bill Not a Nexus 4 topic but this is first for the Nexus device. |

QUOTE(cowithgun @ Nov 14 2014, 08:27 AM) it is still 3.4 so it won't have a lot of big changes like kernel hibernation, 64-bit arm, kernel TRIM, kernel f2fs, Timerless multitasking in 3.10. Yes, 3.10 contains a lot goodies that we want but bringing up new kernel is quite a bit of work. Doubt the Android team will bother to build a new kernel for device as old as Nexus 4.but it still has a lot of small bug fix from kitkat. changelog extracted from googlesource for nexus 5 (since nexus 4 kernel still not up). here is the complete kernel from kitkat -> lollipop changelog: » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « QUOTE(nerozx2 @ Nov 18 2014, 06:07 PM) Guys if you miss the Gallery app maybe you can download QuickPic from Playstore. QUOTE(Bombgen @ Nov 18 2014, 08:48 PM) Got the OTA message this morning, but i ignore it bcoz i have something important to do, but now the massage is gone, i saw the calender is changing, but it still 4.4.4. If i check update nothing happen. Any idea what my phone problem guys? Try hitting check for updates. It's not a software/hardware faulty if the OTA notification went away after dismissed. Since 5.0 still in rollout process might take a while for every user to get the update. For me the OTA notification was pain in @$$. Can't seem to dismiss that thing. |

Man...I really hate this stupid Gmail in Lolipop. In 4.4 I can use the AOSP Email client with Gmail & Yahoo email just fine. Plus the widget will show both of the email at same time. Gmail seems to overide the email app in 5.0?
Anyone got other alternative email client? |
