Hmm.. Digitizer or Volume/Power button got change before? Battery? hmm.gif
*
Havent change any of those!

Battery? Never really concern me... i used to charge the phone only once every 2 days but now getting lazy. i just charge when it drop below 30%. i can't get it drop below 30% in a day... well... my usage is not high... sweat.gif not much time to play game on it...

i hope to get 5.1 soon, been too long i have not tweak anything in this phone!

ps: here's a screen shot of battery life back in Dec when i updated to 5.0.1. was investigating why Google services eating battery. It was because i switch on the face recognition and allow device to unlock with other device such as arm-band, etc. The phone get GPS and do a bunch of stuff every time i unlock it. Also, because some sync after a new flash. Things get better in a few days and i disable the proximity unlock feature.

Interesting read about people upgraded from n4:

http://www.reddit.com/r/nexus4/comments/2z...nd_i_gotta_say/

As expected, you probably won't feel much (if any) differences at all. In fact, I am sure those guys will miss their n4 every time there is a newer android update.

thanks for the tip about the face unlock, will try disable it.
battery has been bad since lollipop cos none of the battery saver apps work anymore.
*
if you see a request for location icon (the navigation / GPS icon on the top bar), every time u swipe to unlock phone, you also need to do this:

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.p...&postcount=6265

This will disable "trust agents". A new feature in Lollipop that allow you to unlock phone when you have wearable gadget such as Mi Band, etc. That stuff eats battery, especially if you unlock you phone hundreds times a day. sweat.gif

Update 5.1.0. Wil Nexus 4 get it? the main feature I've been waiting is the killswitch in the new update, will nexus 4 get this feature?
*
Nexus 4 will get 5.1 but i don't think the killswitch will work.

The only advantage of using Device protection (killswitch) in 5.1 from the current Android Device Manager is that the killswitch will even prevent thief from using the phone even after factory reset.

Android Device Manager already has capability to remotely wipe the phone. But thief can still do factory reset and use the phone as if a new phone.

Due to the way Device protection work, i suspect only newer phone ship with Lollipop (5.0) and above will work, this including Nexus 6 and 9. Even Nexus 5 should not work. I could be wrong.

Another thing, to use this feature, you must not have boot-loader unlocked. Otherwise, it is no used. I can simply replace your boot-loader, even in Nexus 6.

I'm curious one things, talking about kill-switch, with iDevices have Touch ID the fingerprint sensors, the iPhone or iPad render less attract thief it since, they cant disable the lock or with iCloud able to remote lock.

Back with our Android, tech savvy thief can wipe our device on bootloader/recovery even we have lock our device with password/pin/fingerprint sensors like the Mate7 or MX4 Pro. Correct right?
*
Yes. Sure can reset it by factory reset. laugh.gif That's why Device Lock (Android 5.1) trying to protect us from.

Also, it's not difficult to "unlock" a phone protected by pin in both Android and iOS (if jailbroken). It can be done without even factory reset. laugh.gif Those fingerprint sensor will not help you.

So at the moment the iDevice (non-jailbreak) are much security superior compare to our current Android 5.0. Fingercross hope Google release the Device Lock on Android 5.1.
*
Ya, in nutshell, non-jailbreak, security wise iOS > android. However, jail broken android with proper configuration > iOS because you can use firewall, custom root privilege, custom SELinux enchacements, custom recovery, custom kernel, custom permissions / package manager, etc.

There is some open source project that can lock down your android and run app in sandbox feeding app with fake info, those are not possible with iOS.

long time no see... not so easy, need to do some research to come out with the iOS passcode bypass biggrin.gif basically, just 2 command:

1. Hook into SpringBoard (the Home screen process in iOS)
CODE
#cycript -p SpringBoard

2. Tell it that "there is no spoon passcode"
CODE
cy# SBDeviceLockController.messages['isPasscodeLocked'] = function() { return NO; }

iOS will automatically unlock itself!

my Galaxy W still somewhere in the toolbox. good for testing stuff. now main phone still using Nexus 4.

as said. it still require jail broken iPhone in order to break the passcode.
*
Pass code need jail broken iOS, unlock bricked icloud is a different beast. But it can be done without jail broken, someone created a fake Icloud server that claimed to be able to unlock those... You may need to find a reliable doulci server.... I have never test this and no source code to back up this, so, use at own risk.

And err... Don't trust any app. You just need the IP address of the server. No need to install anything... Anyway, we are out of topic. :-)

Yes it's out! Download this!

https://dl.google.com/dl/android/aosp/occam...ry-cae68e81.tgz

Here is the steps:

Unzip the TGZ first.

CODE

adb reboot bootloader

At this point, phone in green-android-mode.

CODE

fastboot flash bootloader bootloader-mako-makoz30f.img

If you see something like device not found, etc at this point, that mean your adb drivers is not the Universal driver. Follow these steps to make it Universal (https://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopic=3345520&st=600&p=71498268&#entry71498268) or download it from XDA.

CODE

fastboot reboot-bootloader
fastboot flash radio radio-mako-m9615a-cefwmazm-2.0.1701.06.img
fastboot reboot-bootloader
fastboot update image-occam-lmy47o.zip

The last fastboot is without "-w". That will keep all your data and settings. You will lost Root and custom recovery. Easy to get it back. tongue.gif

ps: edited for correct filename, thanks redxiii

WARNING: A bit off topic but...

I always looking forward for Google I/O. They always have something nice to show. After checking on the schedule they put online, this time... I am not sure.

By comparison, Microsoft (i just like to tease about them quite a bit) Build 2015 seem a lot more interesting!

Checkout the Continuum feature of Windows 10! It's like OS X Continuity but in steroid! Not only you can project your phone into a TV (with miracast), it will scale really well once it's on the TV. You also can use your Windows Phone as touchpad.

Project Ara isn't interesting enough for you?

I look into the agenda, so far, look like Android M is focusing on bringing Android to work place... i hate work biggrin.gif

Project Ara... still kinda far i guess...

Hope that will be the case, rumour has it N4 is at the stage where it wont be in the latest update anymore  cry.gif
*
rumour is rumour... our N4 was updated waaaaayyyy beyond "it's stage". by comparison, our predecessor; Galaxy Nexus (nexus 3), stop getting update after a short 18 months. Rumours is that the OMAP 4460 SOC by TI no longer supported. Not "entirely" Google's fault.

looking at our hardware, it should be strong enough for any upcoming Android.

Looking at the agenda in Google I/O, if Google focus is to push Android into working place, i suspect we will get Android M.

Sorry for long post, here is a screen shot of me completed PvZ2 Ice world!

And nice video on completing Metal Slug Defense. It has some pretty good Original Sound Track and at end of credit scene.. all the heroes...

Android M in nutshell:

1. Granular Permission (read: better permission control)
2. Chrome Custom Tab (read: better webkit)
3. App Link (read: better Intent)
4. Android Pay (read: better Android Wallet)
5. Fingerprint sensor support
6. Power & charging, doze mode - 2x longer during idle. Don't really go crazy because it's 2x, idle batter consumption is already pretty good at moment. Well, better than nothing. smile.gif

Well, they are right, improvement on the OS is minimal.

Project Brillo:

Ambitious OS for Internet of All Things. This should be interesting. If I want to set the temperature of a smart Microwave oven, I can do it from my phone, "brilliant". If I wanna open the door with my phone, I can, "brilliant". rclxms.gif

"brilliant" because i might accidentally blow up my house. tongue.gif

Google Now:

Other new stuff coming to Android, "Now on Tap". A context sensitive Google Now. This should be interesting. Example, while viewing email, bring up Google Now (tap and hold home), it will try to understand the email and display relevant info such as bringing up Restaurant reservation, Movie preview, set reminder, etc.

Dis I like! This could be the only reason I am hoping to get Android M on my N4. (from the preview, they mentioned that the new Google Now needs Android M)

So.... Let the rumor begin?

Nice finding! Look like Now on Tap is coming to N4! No need any dirty port or anything.

Now on Tap uses new Assist API on Android M. May not be so easy to port it without M.
