Hi can anyone recommend in-ear earphone for me?

-just for daily use, on phone and laptop (usually utube and spotify)
-prefer to have mic as i usually play games that use voice chat
-must be wired, hate wireless earbuds
-budget lower than rm200
-prefer for it to be durable enough, used to have Sony MDR-XB55AP before, but now its broken because of my cat
-someone told me to buy kz sn10 pro, but i feel like i want to ask here first
*
You didn't mention the most important thing, what's sound signature preference?
If just for can hear sound while gaming and chatting and less on music, any earphones is good enough.

If your motherboard doesn’t have a good soundcard and surround sound fits your taste, then the MH752 at RM389 would serve you great. Otherwise, if you just need a no-nonsense headset, the basic MH751 at RM299 itself would perform just as well as its brother. I, personally, would opt for the MH751 because, for gaming, virtual surround is not as helpful as true surround sound which is the real interpretation of what’s happening in the game.
https://www.tech-critter.com/review-cooler-...gaming-headset/
I personally agree with the review, no need for the USB DAC if your motherboard can output sound without any distortion or you already have DAC. Windows itself already have Windows Sonic For Headphones function if you prefer a more virtual sound.

QUOTE(power911 @ Nov 13 2020, 03:00 PM)
Hey guys, just wanted to ask around to see what options I have. Trying to get a goal to achieve on.
I've asked this in reddit but wanted to see what your opinions are.

I'm an Alessandro MS-1i user with Behringer UMC22 interface as my headphone source. I like the MS-1i fast and open sound with raw overtone distortion great for electric guitar. But personally I wanna explore into something more wider spectrum.

I'm eyeing some sparkly highs with sub bass which has been lacking in my MS-1i for years. Call it cold tone U shape? I've also been real happy with my Koss Portapro for sounding pretty similar to my MS-1i but with a load more warm bass with rolled off trebles.

I wanted to explore into Planar world since they're known to be crazy fast but unsure if my UMC22 is sufficient to power it or not

No particular budget but these are 3 of my range I've been eyeing
-HE400i for the most budget planar?
-Beyerdynamic DT880 for a non-planar equivalent? I heard of it only once in Jaben and I like how warm and thick vocal mids sounding it is when paired with proper amp despite many saying Beyers are treble ear piercing kings
-Sundara for a more expensive approach? Breaking the RM1k range is definitely new to me for sure

One redditor recommended me Sennheiser HD560S instead for my taste in fast sound and also the ease of driving without amp.

What are your thoughts? Should I also invest on an amp for these choices?
*
For guitar picking sound, example is Kent Nishimura version of Careless Whisper at Youtube, I prefer listening even with HE-4XX than the almighty HD 650. I like the fast attack and no decay sound from planar driver, it sound super clear. Actually if it's only instrumental music I will only use planar so as to get the clarity. Only when there's vocal that sound better with reverb/echoes, I will use HD 650.

I heard that HE400i sounds very similar to HE-4XX, if so then it will be very good in treble, might be too good as some also complain it's too piercing. I also used to feel the same with it, but now already used to it. Only complain with it is it's too strong on treble and weak on bass, if bass heavy music it's not so satisfying.

There's so many headphones out there. It's hard for anyone to say which is better as I doubt they have listen to all of it and can clearly remember each headphone sound signature. Some more everyone sound preference is different. I would suggest you to go to those shops that have the headphone to test that's in your list. Then you can compare which headphone sounds best for you. I been to Starpicker before and impressed with their choices of headphone to test. You can order drink and slowly listen to some headphone of your choice, I think they don't mind as that what I done last time. tongue.gif

On whether planar need amp, actually most planar are very power efficient. Even my phone can get the headphone to ear piercing loud. But I still like having NX4DSD to power my headphone when I'm not in front of my desktop, my heart feel more assure by using it. laugh.gif
You can get a portable DAC-AMP first so there's still use for it if you found out the sound is exactly same with UMC22

oh? Starpickers is a cafe?? I totally forgot about starpickers existence  laugh.gif  laugh.gif  laugh.gif  Time to find one day to visit there since now less restriction d.

Hey, piercing treble due to too clean trebles is definitely something I'm interested as long as it doesn't sound like poor low budget PA speaker compression tweeters on a bluetooth 3.0 sbc treble puke.gif

About planar headphone being power efficient, I've been getting mixed opinions honestly. Some say difficult and not worthy with phone but some say even phone is overpowered. sweat.gif
You think that starpicker would be okay with me bringing a laptop with interface rig to test?  laugh.gif
*
First floor is cafe. Second floor is auditioning place. You can order drinks and sit at second floor.

Won't sound like low budget speaker. Can say it's better at giving more details of the treble.

Whether need AMP also depends what the headphone's impedance and sensitivity is, just like other driver headphone. But generally planar is low impedance and high sensitivity.
I think they ok with you bringing your own equipment. Last time I just use my phone to listen to headphone and they also let me use their iFi Black DAC-AMP.

Sorry interested to get some similar headphones. Use are mainly Dota, Netflix and youtube.

The headphones i have used before is Turtlebeach (lasted a year broke the headband), Corsair H2100 (lasted a year or so, broke near the earpiece), Razer products lasted less than a year, but my hyperX Cloud revolver lasted a good 4 years.

Is the CM as a good quality, or do you recommend something else.

Cost hoping to pay less then 300
*
It's a good quality headphone. But if you no need sound isolation, can use open back headphone, Philips SHP9500 is a better choice. But if need mic then need to get mic mod.

Budget 3k

Purpose: Gaming, Online Meetings and Zoom lectures, Movies (I dont use living Room and TV much)

I read abit on reviews, it is said that Sennheiser GSX1000 is one of the best. Is it still the case?

As for headphone, I need wireless, comfortable to ears (not pinching and causing itchiness or redness or discomfort for prolonged hours) and clarity
Theres Sennheiser GSP 670, ArctisPro Wireless. Or can I make do with something less?

Theres logitech, creative, sennheiser, razor etc nowadays, so I am confused.

Appreciate recommendations near my budget and one tier less at RM2k
*
If you going to get wireless headphone, you don't need DAC as the headphone already built in DAC. Just get a bluetooth dongle if your mobo don't have it.
No idea for gaming headphone. If wireless audiophile headphone can check Audeze Mobius, Hifiman Deva, Bose QC 35 II or 700, Audio Techinca M50xBT, and of course Sony XM3 or XM4.

Hi I am new here, sorry if my question sound stupid.

I had just purchase Sound Blaster AE-9
Not coming yet as I just purchase yesterday. https://my.creative.com/p/sound-blaster/sound-blaster-ae-9
I plan using this for listening to songs. Off course I also use it for gaming but that is other topic not related here.

Any good quality over the ear headphones recommended. Budget not more than RM 5k.
My main source from TIDAL Hi-Fi subscription and iTunes.
I got some self rip from Audio CD but not that many now as I never buy Audio CD for quite sometimes already.

I stay at JB area, I really no idea any shop actually selling audiophiles grade headphones as I never stepping in such area before.
If anyone from JB, Kulai, Skudai and Senai got idea, appreciate you could highlight some.

I listen to many type of songs except rock. I don't like those noisy songs.
I prefer classical, jazz, soul, new age (I think example Dadawa, Sa DingDing, Enya fall into this category right).

And yes I also listen to Pop with good vocal but I don't listen K-pop.

Second part is listen when using mobile phone, I currently only have POCO F2 Pro and Apple iPhone 12 Pro Max.
Sometimes I want convenient, so I also would like any recommendation Bluetooth over the ear headphones that is better than Sony WH-1000XM3.
As even Sony WH-1000XM3 I also can heard something I not prefer to heard. I already set using LDAC and included listen to self-rip from original Audio CD.
I had no choice test Sony WH-1000XM3 at iPhone yet as I already sold it.

Headphone and it's sound signature is like food, everyone have their own preference. It's not the food not nice, it's just the individual feel the food not nice. You should demo it yourself to know whether you like the headphone sound signature. Those shops that have audiophile headphone for demo I think only in KL/Selangor have. Some more you going to spend a lot for the headphone so better to try it first to make sure you really like the sound. The second best option is to go with popular headphone that people always recommend. Thought it's hard to distinguish between actual good vs overhyped.

Most of the headphone also is open back, so that is a problem with your requirement for good sound isolation. Those good ANC is XM3 and QC 35 II, both you also tried before. XM4 supposed to have better ANC, though how much better or just hype.

I just wonder how does open back headphone performance for gaming. I heard some said it's good as open back allow wider sound stage.
I tested M50 wired but prefer XM3 for sweeter sound on pop music.
How about M50x BT version ?
*
With bluetooth expect lower sound quality than wired.

Open back is better for gaming as the sound is wider.
Cheap and cheerful open back for gaming, Philips SHP 9500

HE4XX also can use for gaming.

I got HE4XX and HD 650. 4XX better in treble and overall sharpness of sound, 650 better for vocal.

You want improve 4XX bass, change to perforated leather pads.

Hi how about 660s and 600.

I prefer clear transparent vocal and some bass. I don’t like high treble.
*
I never heard both of that headphones. Only 650.
Usually people will compare 600 vs 650. 650 have slightly more bass. Some will feel 600 is sterile while some will feel 650 too much bass.
If judging by their frequency graphs, 660s have same bass level with 600 but much lower treble than the other two.
user posted image

660s have the lowest treble while 650 have the most bass. I won't consider any of them as have very high treble nor very bassy. But everyone have different preference so for more accurate answer it's best if you able to demo it. And I feel any of these 3 will excel for vocal.

Happy birthday to you!

Anyway, enjoy your headphone. thumbup.gif

Next time when plan to buy another headphone I suggest try listening to planar driver. The sound characteristic will be very different than dynamic driver.

And also open back headphone.

Hi, help me to choose between akg k712 or sundara. Mostly listening to 80s and 90s rock band like Metallica, pink Floyd, scorpions, queen n etc. Currently using Philips X2 at home and I have Sony wh xm3 for portable use and several chifi iem like blon bl03 and CCA c12 . For references, I like c12 sound more than blon and X2 more than xm3. For upcoming 12.12 the price for sundara will drop to rm1245 compare to rm1.8k for k712.
Btw for amp, planning to buy fiio k5 to pair with. Thanks.
*
K712 less bassy than sundara is that matters to you.
Since you like fast paced music, I feel sundara with planar driver will be more suitable for it.
