lol , u choose 1.6 ?
how's the feel ?
*
nope. I've chosen the 1.3 MT to test drive and became a passenger only coz halfway during the test drive, the test driver too excited till forgot to pass over the wheels to me. rolleyes.gif

So, my views right now are purely from the passenger's perspective. First, the ride is stiff enough to prevent unnecessary body rolls and yet comfy enough to absorb all the road imperfection. Ride feels compliant and continental like. Wind noise is well suppressed, even at speed up to 140kph. Even at 120kph, the whole car still feels like it is going at 90kph. Air con is typical Proton, I've almost became a Frozen Dory fillet after the 20minutes test drive (Fan speed 2, temp at middle, rainy day tongue.gif). Seats are supportive and offers good support.

Some people might find the engine noise to be a bit thrashy when revved and the sound from the front is kinda "amplified" since there are no any unwanted noise from the doors/mirrors.

Overall, it is a good car and one of the best effort by Proton. Personally, I feel the best, most value for money variant to buy will be the 1.3E or 1.6E.

one good question, how's the comfort if go for a long highway trip? the seat ok mah?
*
I think, for me, if I would take the car for long distance trip, my only beef will be teh 215L bootspace... tongue.gif

I believe it will be comfy on highways. The seats are seriously good. They offer good support (unless you are fat). Even the seats on the standard variant is good and comfy enough. Suspension system rebound rate is well tuned to minimize the "up down up down" feeling whenever traveling on highways.

nice sharing  thumbup.gif

i have same feel too , only that one things i must say still no good is the air cond switch  shakehead.gif  , too plastic for me , i have to turn it slowly and i feel it just like very easy to broker cry.gif
*
my friend complained that to me too, and my suggestion is, just leave it at just a single speed and leave it there forever. Dont touch it even when shutting off the engine. Like that you wont be sad everytime you feel the flimsiness of the knob and by not turning it everytime you start the engine, it will never get broken. icon_idea.gif

and actually, I dont like teh MT gear lever also la. So9lan7tall for what. vmad.gif

and also that black insert to replace the missing push start button on the Executive and Standard variant.

haha , that gear lever ? u mean the gear stick ar ?
*
ya la. For CVT is ok la. The height is acceptable, but MT one is so tall, as if driver is rally driver.

Anyway, not a majot issue. If I were to get a MT version, I will just make it short and put in a better gear knob to do the car justice.

it is just a heavily revised campro with VVT slapped in and tons of upgraded (strengthened) components. Good part is, thanks to the VVT system, power delivery is no longer rough. It feels linear. Even the revs is now smoother compared to other Campros. Still makes the same droning noise though.

If you check the plate on the driver's side, you can see the engine code is still S4PE/S4PH

It is a good thing anyway. It was initially refer to NFE.  But as for marketing strategy, they want to disassociate from the existing campro.  They want to have good feel, totally new feel of the car.  So might as well use simple marketing term.. VVT.  And it works.  Most people don't know proton already had vvt but now seems very surprise of it.  laugh.gif
*
somehow i feel like it doesn't give the engine justice. One last final hurrah is all the Campro needs but got denied. sad.

The naming aside, this engine is quite a gem. The power delivery is linear and well balanced throughout the rpm range.

drove a CVT 1.6L premium today, felt that the RPM still revved up significantly when accelerating from idle.
wind noise almost non-existent, leaving only the vroom vroom noise from the VVT engine at 3-4k RPM laugh.gif

the keyless fob looks very small though, with no key inside, this one is the latest version duh blink.gif
*
CVT mah, of coz rpm goes up significantly lo when you press pedal to metal. The wind insulation seriously caught me by surprise.

yes, the keyfob is so small and tiny. I was expecting proton to carry over from preve but no, it became cuter. laugh.gif

2.1k rpm for CVT isnt the limit yet. hardly.

At that rpm, the CVT is still in "eco mode".

maintenance cost should be the same as the current IAFM+.

the only maintenance that is costly is the gearbox oil change for CVT. It can cost up to 600++ for every single CVT oil change interval (60,000km or 36months, whichever comes first).

oo.. cvt gear oil not same as conventional gear oil? 600+ for oil change... i think last time i change my conventional gear oil is 100++ only  sweat.gif  sweat.gif
*
Yea, conventional AT oil change cheap only. Got it done for less than 150 for my Altis. CVT fluid and AT fluid has different properties.

My FLX however... costs four times more cry.gif

The 600++ I quoted is including the metal gasket. Some SC insist to change the gasket, some doesn't. If deduct the gasket, overall cost is around 450++

tested 1.6E at COE Hicom. power ok, a lot better than previous models. handling ok. whack the corner at the back of COE at 110kmh no problem. ohh. maybe need a wider rims. a part from that i think its ok. the new cvt also engaged quite fast. just dont expect a cvt will accelerate like a manual tranny.hehehe.

after test drive straight away make my booking for waifu. book the 1.6E White Colour =)
