its a thumper (single cyl),
good city bike, but on the open roads and highway, theres only so much it can do.

if its your first bike, you'll outgrow it very quickly, soon enough you'd be wanting more power. if you plan to use it long term, for daily city commutes, stop and go city traffic, etc, then go ahead and get it.

but if you're gonna upgrade soon, i'd suggest u get a 2nd hand cbr250r first. you dont loose much cash.

lastly if you're an experienced rider, top up rm8k, get the 500r, its about 28k the last time i checked

yes it is my first bike from 0 experience. many people say that it wont be enough in the long run, any 250 user here can agree with that?

KTM RC200 also one cylinder, and it looked much better than cbr250

Ninja 250 is the best starter bike, no hassle, light and easy, 2 cylinder running on highway also not that hot

Been using my CBR 250 R daily for the third year now. Great day to day bike in the city, easily can get 130kmh without effort, nice torque and stable while easy to maneuver at the same time. For long distance highway, it is not recommended as top speed is around 140kmh only.

Recently my work place moved to Bangsar so I used MEX daily now. Due to this, I'm already looking for a bigger bike. Overall the CBR 250 R is a great day to day bike but not so suitable for weekend getaway or long distance highway ride.

I tried the KTM 200 but the feel of power and torque is quite a lot less than CBR 250 R.

Thanks for your feed bad. My plan for the bike is riding to class and work. Not really a speed demon though, is 140 not fast enough? For long distance planning do try some long distance too.

The bike can easily do 130 kmh but when you push a bit more, it will only go slightly over 140 kmh, that's it no more unless it's down hill. It is practically full throttle already at around 140 kmh. I think it is more about gear ratio setup for torque and pick-up, not top speed. Other 250 cc bikes can go to 160 kmh I think. I term of pick-up, I can easily follow an ER6 if the speed is below 130 kmh.

cbr 250 is great for city commuting...
BUT if you were speedhead and all you want is speed..
cbr wouldn't be a wise choice..
basicly if you drive a car in long journey(highway)..
and your speed above 120..(in kancil/viva)..
cbr wouldn't satisfied "speeding" needs..hehe..

Will ninja 250r make huge difference in long distance drive. The new cbr250r is there actually any improvement in performance wise, compared to the old one, or its just purely aesthetic change?

ninja 250r are two(2) cyl bike...so in long distance journey wouldn't "hurt" the engine as one(1) cyl engine
one workload divide by two or one?? which is more "easier" to achieve the "goal"???
and i think this new twin light cbr only purely aesthetic change...
they make a new face lift to fight market with new yamaha YZF-25R
purely marketing...as honda "CBR" brand were also synonym with twih headlight just like yamaha "YZF" branding

If it is for daily use in the city, it is not a bad bike at all. Maintenance is also very cheap, just 1.5L of engine oil and oil filter.

You will only feel the bike is slow when you are in a highway where you can maintain the speed for a long time, if highway like NKVE, shouldn't be any problem since it is busy. Now that I'm using MEX daily, I really feel that I need something faster just to keep up with the traffic comfortably.

Shakyness? If you mean high speed stability, the CBR 250 R is stable for me but this depends on how you ride and your weight as well. If you mean engine vibration, the engine vibration is low but you will get numbness in your fingers after a while.

Thanks haha. You've been very help full. Most probably going to get it next week. Really like the styling that is similar to the CBR1000rr.

i think its safe to say that
cbr250 is for

easy to ride
easy to maintain + Honda engine seldom got any trouble
a good for beginners bike

BTW ts got a lot of YOutube video review on cbr250
their only complaint is only top speed
the rest its a pretty good bike.
well worth the money.

I'm really glad to hear that. Very excited to ride my 1st bike. Any idea any upgrades that can improve top speed? I'm really noob regarding motorcycle.

if you ask me 130kmh is already fast bro. but then again i might just be old.
like most forumer said for intercity ride is good enuff but for the long journey KL - PERLIS might just feel a bit slow.
but if you want more top speed go for kawa 250 or cbr500.

for performance upgrades perhaps aftermarket exhaust / sprocket /ecu tuning.
other than that expect big buck and might just ruined your engine in the long run.
best to ask owner of the bike itself.

anyway if this is your 1st bike . dont go stingy on safety apparels and always be safe bro.
buy a good quality one , singapore is a good place to buy bike accesorries , apparels.
cheaper than malaysia`s. worth the travel i must say.

Singapore? Thanks will look into that. How about the air filter? Mind explaining what is ECU tuning? Also how much will it increase after your recommended mods?
