QUOTE(aeiou228 @ Oct 27 2014, 01:46 PM) Nope ! Banks wouldn't practice that. Because you will curse the bank kaw kaw if the bank drop your second 6 months deposit rate instead of 4.38%......if OPR drop. If you already made the FD placement today, you will get the advertised 4.28% on your first roll-over six months later regardless of changes in OPR. If you haven't make any FD placement yet, then the 3.83% + 4.38% advertised rate is subject to revision should there be any OPR changes. Hello aeiou228, you may refer to the announcement as made by Public Bank to depositors who have participated the promo prior to 27 October 2014 Apparently, they will enjoy 4.28% for the next 6 months instead of 4.08% This post has been edited by FDInvestor: Oct 27 2014, 02:16 PM Attached thumbnail(s)

QUOTE(Gen-X @ Oct 27 2014, 02:41 PM) Wow! Trust Public Bank to be so generous. They deserve my salute this time And FDInvestor, thank you so much for the info Hello gen-X, Has downward revision of FD promotional interest rates happened in the past ? Is that possible we may get lower rates than the advertised promo rates if there is any changes in OPR ? This post has been edited by FDInvestor: Oct 27 2014, 04:25 PM

QUOTE(BartS @ Dec 5 2014, 06:53 PM) Was at UOB today. New rates. 4.00% for 6 months. 4.20% for 12 months. I have checked their promo rates. For 12 months, it is 4.10% and not 4.20%. Please refer the attachment below. Attached thumbnail(s)

QUOTE(Gen-X @ Dec 19 2014, 12:26 PM) Bro, actually I don't mind if they banks ask where my source of fund as long as no need show documented proof (which then it makes it a big hassle). I am surprised UOB wanted documented proof like you mentioned above. In November I did open a new joint FD account with UOB but my RM's assistant (my UOB RM really busy marketing other UOB banking products and only get her assistant to entertain me, hahaha) did not ask me source of fund and best of all, the new FD account ends with No.8 without me requesting for it, hahaha. In October, when I placed new FD with Maybank - actually my very first Maybank Account with that branch (open there since got Premier Wealth Centre), my RM also never ask me the source of my fund. What pisses me off is when the bank ask me why I withdrawing my money!!! Happened long ago at Public Bank and I told the girl non of her business! After PPB tried to cheat me for the non-working day interest, 2 to 3 years back, I have terminated all my accounts with them. Is that compulsory we must tell them the purpose for withdrawing substantial amount of fund ? I have encountered the same problem before. The staff of CIMB told me that this is the bank's SOP.

QUOTE(Gen-X @ Dec 19 2014, 01:21 PM) Next time tell them you want go invest and double up your money at Genting Casino as FD interest too low, hahaha. I guess the banks want to know why so that HQ can take appropriate action to maintain fund and not outflow. CIMB now got really good FD deal equivalent to UOB Christmas Deal - I guess they need to prop up their cash reserve, wonder if got anything to to with 1MDB. huge amount sure lah the people eyes open big big I told them I will open FD with other banks. The staff continued to ask which bank and the interest rate offered by other banks Aiyo.... very aggressive la Since the ringgit is depreciating against greenback. Should I convert all the USD I have to ringgit in order to participate the on-going FD promotion ? I need to react fast as there is possibility that BNM may trim the OPR rate to 3% in 2015. What is your opinion if you were me ? This post has been edited by FDInvestor: Dec 21 2014, 08:27 AM
