Hi.

After a lot of comparisons and quotations between IKEA, Signature Kitchen, Legend, Rowenda, capalang.. cap ayam..

I've decided to go ahead with IKEA Metod kitchen system... and it'll cost me a lot less than every other quotation except cap ayam for now, especially since I have decided that I will be able to install the kitchen cabinets myself (for the most part)

So my question is...

If i install cabinets, can I hire someone else to install the worktop, sink and tap fitting for me? also considering to order quartz top instead of using ikea punya worktop.. but cabinets die die i want ikea

can ah? thanks

Of course you can but note that those big boys (or even not so big ones) such as Signature Kitchen, Unity Kitchen etc won't do just counter top change only. I guess very little margin for them. You have to go with their sub contractors or cap ayam to do so. Those that are willing to fix complications when removing your existing counter top.

You can always ask your quartz stone guy to recommend

From experience, usually those who do both aluminium and wood don't do either very well.

UK is a very expensive kitchen supplier. Workmanship is so so only for the 3 houses I've seen them doing.

AK does a pretty good job for their aluminium works but a bit on the expensive side.

The simply way is choose the right wood put in right place. For the wet place better choose aluminium cabinet lo. Call KCN kitchen . They have explain all requirement and save cost.

obviously plywood are better than chipboard.. i would say avoid chipboard if you have the budget. it helps in long term cause chipboard is more sensitive with water compare to plywood.

kcn kitchen in seremban can have free quotation. they use plywood and aluminum

Gonna look at hettich as well.

You can buy separately from Ikea. It cost around RM20 for a pair if I'm not mistaken. It is avail on their website as well.

If I had a choice, I will go for ikea as it is easier to change what has spoilt and if you want to modify the system.

If you custom made, the kitchen installer will not want to take small jobs of modifying the kitchen in the future and you're stuck with it.

sharp edges at most door corners -> YES Can it be grind ed rounder?

shorter pull for drawer -> this is due to different drawer parts uses here. Hettich no such issue.

uneven joints -> normally can be minimized -> mine no such issue

bottom covers hollows -> mine was using adjustable ABS leg -> mayb using this will reduces the uneven joint, for bottom there will be some gap in certain tiles due to uneven floor (they uses silicone for it)

to note: normally those end panel or enclosure panel, must be customize during installation day (as uneven gap only will be show up during installation day, i believe they didnt do it.
