ended up getting the alpha instead of the z3 compact no matter how tempting it was...
dont want to end up with 2 sony phone and wanted to try something new anyway...

The Z3 compact will be free of charge if i sign up a package..
But again, as above...  rclxub.gif

Instead, i paid 49 dollars for the below...
Comes with free powerbank...

This z3c seems to be having lotsa defects heh. I'm really hoping other brands to challenge Sony on the high end compact smartphone, this is clearly one segment hat is missing in the industry. Smartphones smaller than 5" often compromised in term of specs

Mainstream market is still thinking bigger screen = better. What to do...

just an update on my soft keys/notification bar issue

tried to do a firmware fix during the weekend, turned out the problem still persists. wasted time doing all the backup and re-downloading the firmware via PC Companion. did a few resets as well but still no good sad.gif  sad.gif

one thing that I noticed was when my phone running "clean" (freshly reset) my notification bar still works although after a few moment it refuses to open when I slide down from the top of the screen, regardless of whether I have my apps installed or not

currently just using Assistive Touch app to cater for the back, home & recent apps button yawn.gif

Hi. Mine also has this issue recently!!
I don't remember doing anything special. The last firmware update was long ago.
I haven't try resetting my phone. No time to backup yet.

Can't be that coincident right? I just realized I got the problem an hour ago. Before that, the back button has issue.

U mean you cant pull down the notification bar?
*
Yup. I ran the service menu code and checked the touch screen. Basically the whole top part near the bezel cannot detect my touch, except top left. I still can wipe down notification bar from there.

Looks like a lot of users got this issue. Can't be so co-incident right? Must some previous firmware update we had done?

BTW I'm a Z3 user. Not Z3C.

i dont think so,if firmware update problem ,once hard reset it will be solved. I think is hardware issue kua
*
Ya but how come most people only get it now? lol I still find it too coincident.

I haven't try reformat it. Been busy. Will do it next week.

Sony had sent me the address of nearest place to drop my phone for RMA. KL is too far for me.

went to the retailer shop who sold me the phone . performed factory reset still same problem. need send to SC to repair, luckily still under warranty. after this i wont consider to use any sony phone at all if this z3C goes kaput again.  == Xiaomi or One Plus One series gonna be my next option. Cheap and above average spec. If can tahan 2 years then  very worth the money.

While not all phone are perfect, I really find Sony is the worst out of so many smartphones I have used. Let's form a list of users affected by the touch screen issue. I still find it too coincidental. We should dig this issue and maybe sue Sony for this shit.

Z3 owners [firmware]:
1) davidletterboyz [23.4.A.1.232]
2)

Z3C owners:
1)

i was browsing the thread and saw some issues on the notification bar malfunction issue

just sharing my case on z3c

i face the same issue on the top area notification bar malfunction as well after i update to the firmware of x.x.x.238 around oct 2015

since the phone still under warranty, i sent the phone to butterworth sony service center at megamall and they informed that for z series phone they need to send to KL for repair as they dont have the equipment to test

at first i was quoted need to wait for 2 weeks for replacement.

after a week, did a call to them n check on the status, i was informed that they need to replace the lcd, digitizer and the house casing, however there are not stocks on the casing spare parts and i need to wait for total 2 months...

well since under warranty and i got no other choice.. i can only wait for it..
on first week of november i called again asking to expedite the case and they updated me that stock can arrive eariler and i can get back my phone in total waiting time of 5 weeks..

after 5 weeks, i finally get back my phone.. it's like totally a new phone on a new casing with front and back panel sticked with protection label laugh.gif

and i noticed that the firmware of the phone has been rolled back to 2 versions before that

i got enough of using sony phone after this haha
*
Hmph...probably it is the firmware that broke the hardware? Find it too co-incidence that so many Z3 and Z3C facing the same problem within the same period of time.

I had sent mine via SEMS and they told me the same thing. Need to send to KL to repair and wait minimum two weeks.

At the same time, I got two colleagues using Sony (Z1 and Z3C). Both just broke down last week due to other issues. 3 out of 3 Sony are broken. 100% record.

i do think of firmware issue as well, when i sent in the z3c for warranty at service center, i met a guy sending in his z3c as well, after some chat with him, he is facing the exact problem like mine.. touch screen at top notification bar malfunction, after update to latest firmware (the .238 version at that time, oct 2015)

however, i can't understand how and why a firmware update (software) could spoil the hardware
*
It's still possible. E.g. a firmware that doesn't throttle the processor when overheat will break the hardware after some time. Of course, for touch screen, we will never know until they admit the issue.

Just simply Google...a lot of users got the same problem: Some are as old as Z1.

The .232 firmware that broke my phone.

It's glass, if you don't use any soft casing on it and be rough with it it'll break. I'm using a silicone case and it's quite good at absorbing impact. The glass on this phone is thin though, you need protection. Especially on the touchscreen., you can actually see the touch sensor on the glass, and also scratch easily too. Tempered glass is a must.

I just got back my Z3 today. The firmware is.still 232!

Hi. I'm an ex z3c user. Super loved the battery life. But very disappointed with the phone. Now switched to 1+2.

Anyways I have a bricked z3c. Berjaya SC (Ixun sdn bhd) says mobo rosak. Quote me RM1000++ to change. (Sony warranty expired last Oct)

The phone just decided to stop charging one day and declared dead.

I've decided not to repair it. The phone is still with them. Retrieving the phone costs RM52.

If anyone wants some ori spare parts do hit me a PM. I'll sell it very cheap. Working parts: battery. Back glass case + camera lens (Sept '15), front glass + LCD (Sept '14), battery (Oct '14), camera module (Oct '14)
*
The phone stopped charging?
My friend had the same issue last week with his Z1. They advised to change mobo for RM800-900. My friend went against their advise and change the battery for RM200 and fixed the issue. But before he did that, he retrieved the phone back and charge it again. Somehow it worked once and he booted it up. Saw the battery graph and it went from 50%+ to 0%. That's why he suspected it's battery issue. But the SEMS technician still adamant it's not. lol
