Screen replacement could easily cost around RM300-RM400 usually. So if that is the price, I sincerely think it is not worth it.

my question is why the touch screen spoilt every year under normal use condition? as i mention this is my backup phone and mostly place on table. why i have to pay for a problem that is not my fault? is it normal for a smart phone price 1800+ touch screen have to change every year? why there are so many complaint about this model touch screen on sony support forum and other forum? all with similar symptom and touch screen spoilt within a year? is it the touch screen factory defected item or is the phone design problem?

Seems like a very serious issue. Mine was broken due to accident, so I can't confirm that this happens to my phone. I hope all that is affected by this problem are compensated.

To be honest I'm not sure whether it's hardware or software related. Mine was working fine for 2 years already. Upgraded to Marshmallow, but it s*** big time. Now stick to Lollipop.
Few of my friends that upgrade their phone to Marshmallow (both Z3 and Z3C) got their screen replace after a year because of the non functional status bar. Possible software related or I'm just lucky enough... so far

after complaint to nccc, here is what sony offer:

Dear Mr,

We have received your feedback through close communication with NCCC and have reviewed the case thoroughly through the claims as reported and conversation with our technical support team.

We understand that you are facing difficulties with the touchscreen which has been replaced once during the device’s warranty period. As based on the previous conversation with our technical support team, the device may be having a hardware issue (touchscreen) that affects its expected functionality.

We understand that you have queries and doubts with regards to the product quality, and we can assure you that devices are repaired with parts that are certified and compliant with our quality standards.

The device lifespan is dependent on the daily usage of our consumers, and hence the 12 months manufacturer’s warranty is provided to cover the device failure under normal circumstances. As stated in our terms and conditions of the warranty policy, charges will be incurred if the device is out of its warranty period.

We thank you for the support and we share the grievances that you may feel, thus we would like to offer you a 50% discount on the repair of the device by our authorised service centre out of goodwill from Sony Mobile.

Kindly revert on your decision so that we may make the necessary arrangements with our partners.

[SIZE=7]should i accept? im worry the new screen wont last for a year.

Well, from within their reply, they mentioned that the warranty is 12 months, so I think you can verify back if it is faulty within the time period, what compensation would you get. Depends on what they're going to reply to you, you should be able to make the decision of simply buying a new phone or repair and trust in Sony's warranty.

Here is what Sony reply to my complaint.

My z3c touch panel spoilt after 9 months, and the replacement touch panel spoilt again 10 months later.

Both time the touch panel fail with same symptoms
* It starts without response on notification bar;
* After a week, no back and home buttons working;
* Tried a complete 'refactoring', unsuccessfully;
* Gloves mode is not a good workround (too buggy);
* Botton shortcuts working on lockscreen (calls, unlock or camera);
* Finally whole screen no touch response.

There are many people facing same touch issue but Sony still ignore the fact and says they look into cases individually on case by case basis.

Does any of other Sony phone have so many user complaints on same touch issues with same symptoms?

I keep asking question on Sony mobile my Facebook. They unable to answer my question and now they have block my account to comment.
An expensive phone that gets broken under normal use circumstances. This is what Sony can provide. No matter how I complained, they just refuse to take responsibilities.

I accept the 50 percent discount on repair, but I also need a 12 month warranty on touch panel. Is it too much to ask for.? I have lost confident to Sony touch panel, and its look like Sony also have no confidence on their own touch panel and refuse to my request.

necro bumping this...

I've got an old Z3 Compact that was given to me with a bloated battery and a touchscreen that doesn't work on most of the onscreen button area (as mentioned above by many folks). The unit is an AP set - would it be feasible to do a DIY repair, or send it to Sony? If DIY repair is the way to go, where can I find a replacement battery now that mailed batteries are hard to obtain due to postage restrictions?

Do you intend to change the battery only or with screen too? You can send it Sony for repair but it'll cost you around 150 for battery and about 700+ for screen. I believe you can buy replacement battery from Sony Service Centre or any other shop

It's a great compact phone, but for it's time. Right now, the repair cost for your issue would probably not be worth the result. If it's meant for collection, then you should probably send it to Sony or phone repair specialist as they would have the tools to disassemble and re-assemble the phone.

Willing to DIY repair on my own if repairs are too expensive. Only concern is sourcing the battery, due to shipping restrictions on batteries.
