For those who want a bit more punch in their RWS system, there is also a 30mm autocannon with 7.62mm coaxial MG version:

QUOTE(Avex @ Nov 11 2014, 09:30 AM) 10 years and Malaysia still can't even show a Javelin type equipment equivalent. Potato level we are at Besides the US, who can actually design an NLOS system like Javelin?Russia AFAIK also doesn't have one, Israel has the SPIKE, India has the Nagr and now the PRC has the HJ-12. So unless Malaysia is in that top 5 weapon manufacturer states, I think your opinion is ridiculous. |

QUOTE(azriel @ Nov 11 2014, 10:14 AM) It is the Recon Vehicle variant. Aiyaa so small, didn't notice it... IR or some sort of opto-electronic gear (the small square type beside the commander & in front of the gunner) can be seen clearly from this pic: I expected a scout car would be something like this: ![]() |

ZBL-09 Assault gun variant with 105mm rifled gun. From the people standing beside it, we can scale how large the vehicle really is.

QUOTE(KYPMbangi @ Nov 11 2014, 11:01 AM) Pretty much on par with other 8x8s, wonder if our AV8 can mount assault gun or go crazy with howitzers I think if the turret ring size is right I think you can install any turret you want, as long as the hull allows the weight. I think AV8 turret ring size at most can only fit a medium sized 2-man turret, I haven't seen any mention of plans installing anything heavier than a 25mm turret.ZBL-09 started originally with ZBD-09 IFV with 30mm autocannon and later upgraded to ZBL-09 modular system with all the variants I mentioned in earlier posts. QUOTE(DDG_Ross @ Nov 11 2014, 11:15 AM) Looks like they completely throw the apc function, the rear ramp door is only a small panel now Same with SP Artillery version, they've removed the rear ramp and left a small door. I also doubt they can fit any useful amount of infantry with large fighting compartment of that large 105mm turret taking up space in the passenger compartment. If then this is a tank destroyer thru and thru Not sure AV8 can do the same ![]() A bit strange though, that they don't have a stabilizing system like outrigger legs or rear spade. Combined with the vehicle's relatively low weight snd wheeled drive, each shot must rock the hull significantly, causing not so optimal accuracy. QUOTE(DDG_Ross @ Nov 11 2014, 11:28 AM) So many variants for one platform, av8 12-variants seems so few ady With good R&D surely can. ZBL-09 also started life a single vehicle of IFV role when it first appeared in 2008. Recent upgrade project in 2011-2012 only made the design modular into the many variants we see today. It is reported that Norinco & Poly Technologies plan to design up to 26 variants for the ZBL-09.But I belip av8 also got potential, we ady got the platform This post has been edited by MilitaryMadness: Nov 11 2014, 11:39 AM |

QUOTE(lulz @ Nov 11 2014, 11:40 AM) Got any news or video of chinese military hardware in use in africa? I've seen small arms in pictures but these new bigger items still not around. They probably have a big military hardware consumption inside so not really have the time/inventory to export out yet. Eh, got many examples already la bro:![]() Nigeria has bought about 150 of these CS/VP3 MRAPs ![]() Also these MRAPs for the Ugandan police, while still in China (probably for tests before delivery) This post has been edited by MilitaryMadness: Nov 11 2014, 11:48 AM |

Nothing wrong with being ready. Tanzania is ok economically,so it's ok to have a decent armed forces. Choosing to buy PRC can also maximize acquisition, due to lower cost.
I hear also Norinco has special packages that can potentially cater to smaller countries with lower defense budgets. Chinese media has called these packages as 'military set meals'. QUOTE Norinco has even devised a novel way to make buying weapons easier: It bundles together starter kits of basic defense gear—everything from rifles to howitzers, laser-guided bombs, armored personnel carriers, tanks, and drones—for governments that want to quickly outfit their armed forces. Chinese state media has dubbed the package a “military set meal.” Source |

HJ-8L ATGM
The system can use the same missile as the original HJ-8, or a smaller, lighter missile with shorter range. The main improvement of the system is that it has a smaller and lighter tracking system (hence the 'L' for 'Light') which reduces the overall weight of the system to 22.5kg, light enough to be carried by at least 2 men (1 carries the tracker unit & 1 carries the missile tube. ![]() Contrast with original HJ-8 with its massive tripod and tracking system: ![]() |

New MRAP design from China's Poly Technology Inc.
QUOTE ![]() Developed for police and military use, the 4 x 4 wheeled Security Enforcement Transportation (SET) Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicle was developed by Poly Technologies Inc., a subsidiary of China Poly Group Corporation. The SET MRAP is part of a range of MRAP vehicles developed based on technology and know-how provided to Poly Technologies by Mobile Land Systems, an armored vehicle manufacturer from South Africa. The armored hull has been specially designed to protect its passengers from outside threats, including from explosives such as Improvised Explosive Devices (IED) or land mines. Its infrared signature has also been reduced in its design. The vehicle has been exported and is currently used by the security forces of Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo. Specifications Length: 6.8 meters Width: 2.5 meters height: 2.75 meters Gross Weight: 14000 kg Payload: 3200 kg Engine: 260 hp water-cooled diesel Ballistic Protection Level: BR-3 to BR-7 depending on customer needs Mine Protection Level: 4 kg under belly and 7 kg under wheel This post has been edited by MilitaryMadness: Nov 12 2014, 10:01 AM |
