I'm a new user to redmi here. Been using the phone for 2 weeks already, noticed some flaws (imo).

The battery life seems really poor to me, with wifi turned on and normal browsing (not watching video), it only last like 3-4 hours, using facebook most of the time.

Updated the phone to latest UI as soon as I received it. But I am only allowed to run 1 app at a time. For example, if I clicked any link on facebook that opens up the browser, I will have to scroll all the way down again after returning to facebook since it closed the app for me. I've turned off memory cleaning but this still happens. Same thing didn't exist in my previous Lenovo A889 before.

By the way, the phone is good for the High-res screen, good looking design and friendly UI. smile.gif

What apps are you running and which ones shut down. Its a well known problem that the memory management of the 1S is poor so apps will close down if you are multitasking.

I am running between Browser, Facebook and Messenger. It's crazy when I can't reply messages on both Facebook and Messenger. It forces me to shut down the Messenger app while I just started to text and I can't reply directly on Facebook too (it opens up the Messenger apps again and close and again...). End up I have to close my browser (which I have an article that's being read, it disappears after the apps restart).

Even when I am running Kuwo for music then opens up browser, the music player got shut down. This really annoys me, any solution to this?

Sorry can't help you much on this, hope someone with better knowledge can solve your problem.
Goto recent apps>swipe down any apps icon to lock it in memory.

Okay I'll go try first then reply again to see if it works smile.gif

And the phone is constantly showing around 200MB of RAM available all of the time even with no apps running, considered normal?

all the best

first time use android with a snapdragon cpu
can really feel the difference compare to mediatek

now I know why most ppl prefer snapdragon

Not sure if I'm the only one, but even my previous Lenovo A889 using MTK, it lags less than the Redmi 1S. Didn't game with it so not sure about the gaming performance though.

not sure about your settings

new phone received today, with whatsapp running in the background
around 350mb

hmm... My phone is pretty clean I would say, running a custom theme downloaded from the Mi Theme store. Tried using default theme but the RAM usage seems pretty same so decided to use the custom theme. Anyways I noticed this ram issue since the first day I received the phone, didn't bother with it at first as I thought it wouldn't affect performance. Now the lag and auto shutting down apps really bother me as it greatly affects the user experience.

Did you update the UI to latest or it was updated in factory already?

Just test the phone with music playing & browsing for like 20mins, nothing happen. No lag No hang No crash.

Then test with music playing & playing game at the same time (Raging Thunder 2) like 30mins; Again no lag no hang no crash no heating using the class 10 16GB SD card.

Didnt root / swap the memory at all. Not bad for light user like me other than that SIM contact issue.

That's weird. I turned on another Redmi unit (brand new, fresh out of box). Didn't update the OS, opened youtube + facebook + browser all at once, it runs smoothly. Perhaps I should format my current unit? hmm.gif

These apps not too heavy on the RAM, and people complained about browser tabs getting refreshed when they go back. I have tested it on Dolphin browser, locked it in memory and it doesn't get refreshed.
yea the side buttons can be annoying because it's too sensitive. what I did was enable 'prevent pocket dials' and disable power button on lockscreen.... no more accidental restarts and power off.

But even just using those apps in my Redmi, it starts to lag and shuts down automatically. cry.gif

Is there anyway to revert the OS to older instead of v36?

I opened a few apps and they worked differently this time as well. Nothing got killed or suspended which normally happens. I think theres more memory >400Mb after restarting the phone as well. Now that is odd.

yeap i noticed this too. yesterday my phone's "lock" button isn't working for no reason. can't unlock can't turn off. end up have to remove and reinsert the battery. after the reboot, the phone works smoothly hmm.gif

Another problem occurred to me phone. It now takes super long time to turn on WiFi (ranging around 30 seconds), before it needs like 3 to 5 only.
