I was looking at this baby for a while now. Anyone can comment on whether this is a warm or V shaped signature?

Also looking at the Yamaha EPH-100 brows.gif

I would say.... it isn't considered warm for my ears, nor v-shaped. (they are not even bassy why v?)
Slightly neutral, with a little emphasis on treble and tuning on mids. biggrin.gif Rivals RE400 well I could say..

I have been experiment with the ear tips it provided and some of the after market tips, always go back the stock board bore tips for its house sound biggrin.gif

Basically i've only got 2 earphones, Sony Z1 stock earphones and this KC06A that i got it from Willy recently.

It's my very first Hi-Fi IEM, so I don't have much experience or skills to listen, below is my vague feedback towards this IEM after using for around 5 days by playing FLAC files via both my computer and my phone.

1. Noise isolation on KC06A is quite weak, i can still listen to my fan spinning after i put it on, but when the music is played, it's basically muffled up the surrounding sound.

2. Compared to sony stock earphone I got, KC06A is much more clarity and better separation than that Sony's but then the Sony somehow have more "oomph" than KC06A.

3. Once again compared with my stock earbuds, the bass is very muddy; where else the KC06A have much more detailed low frequency bass.

4. It doesn't really satisfy my needs on warm tone.

5. Don't know whether is it my ear's shape, It starts to get a little discomfort when wearing for around 30 mins.

This IEM basically satisfy as my very first IEM but then it actually disappointed me a little on certain details.

1. Yes, the isolation is mean to be slightly below average due to shallow insertion, you can further improve it by looking for triple flange tips. Less comfortable tho (Tried the triple flanges few times, never liked any because of discomfort due to my ears canal shape)

2. KC06A isn't a bassy IEM but your sony is. Extra oomph is mid-bass hump, but the KC06A doesn't have really emphasized mid-bass.

3. I feel it's a little weak for a basshead but yes, detail of the bass extends well and the bass decay is just nice.

4. I don't think its warm.. it must be at least like SE215 then its considered warm for me. tongue.gif

5. Do you wear it straight down? I get discomfort from wearing them straight down but not from over the ear, never used any ear guides. smile.gif

And also from my findings, tried to play from my laptop/phone/tablet, it had a lot of distortion. Those distortions are practically disappeared by a great margin when i switched my source to better one.

2. Just wondering, just application of Amp able to boost the mid-bass?

4. Never tried SE215 before so yeah....

5. Straight down, the aluminium body somehow poke somewhere near to my ear canal, have to readjust position sometimes after wearing it.

Boost the mid-bass? If you're not a "purist", just soft EQ it.. Nonetheless, KC06A scale well with amplification, I recommend it with a use of amp, and no, amp won't boost your bass unless it has bass boost function (like the C421, C5, Digizoid zo2.3), or hardware eq (e17).
Knew it you wore it straight down lol tongue.gif the angled body is sticking out to your ears i guess. Why dont wear them over the ears?

No idea how to do the EQ; more like didn't dare to touch it  sweat.gif  sweat.gif

Did asked Willy about the amplification, she did recommend me to get a better DAC or DAC+AMP combo rather for me to get a standalone amp (i dont have a DAC  sad.gif  , i was tempting to get a E06 to drive it though) , after the recent purchase of this IEM, I don't think I can buy anything that price range for now doh.gif , for now DAC costs a lot to me. Summer holiday's ending soon, no more part time for me for now :/

I did tried wear it over the ears, It felt weird for me so i swap it back to straight down  tongue.gif

Set the 200hz region +4db, then one upper level and one lower level for a +2db. Thus, making it curved like. (Like for my player its 150hz and 280hz, they are mostly different, just find the 2xx hz region first). laugh.gif

Golden rule, garbage in garbage out tongue.gif For Ostry, i feel that they are quite source dependent. hmm.gif
Get some cheap budget USB DAC like the hifimediy or UD130, can even pair them with entry level amp like the one you said, E06. (I do not recommend the E06/E07, must get to at least E11 tongue.gif)

which means after i get myself a UD110v2 (Less likely to get one due to stock) or UD120, there's no means for me to get an amp right?

And through the review of UD series, i saw that they said about you couldn't control the volume unless you reduced it to 16bit (?) i'm confused with this 1
*
UD110 is volume control capable. But i strongly advise that you use an amp with it because of the power output and the output impedance.

I was going to buy UD120, but no amp  sweat.gif so might as well for E07k

E07K sounds a little warm and dark for my taste, but overall for its driving capability it should be sounds pretty good for your KC06A. tongue.gif
