I thought FBM KLCI is composed of 30 large caps.

Maybe you don't have those big caps.

Unit split/bonus units

2 for 5

I.e. 2 additional unit for every 5 u hold

E.g. u previously have 10,000, CIMB-Principal will "give" u "free" 4,000 units
*
Any idea how's the new NAV is being adjusted?

Work out a hypothetical scenario is easiest to understand such concepts...

Imagine fund size RM100,000
NAV: RM1.0000
Previously outstanding units were 100,000
Now they do 2:5 split/bonus
Now become 140,000 units
NAV becomes: RM0.7143

If my finance knowledge doesn't fail me...

U take pre-split NAV i.e. RM1.0000
U do this factoring...
2:5 split mar...
RM1.0000 *5/7 to get your ex-split NAV

Similarly, to get back to pre-split NAV, u take ex-split NAV
RM0.7143 * 7/5

Split is more straightforward than distribution, cos everyone is taking the units, no one is taking cash out.

Whereas distribution, some unitholders take cash, some reinvest. So the calculation not so straightforward.
*
Sorry, my maths isn't my strong subject.

How to arrive the ratio of 5/7 from the 2:5 split?

The rest of the pre and post split fundamental I already knew it.

Before split, u have 5
After split, u have 7
Extra u get, 2

^
The numbers for the factor calculation

Eh, why u bother with the calculation?

Just take the number of units u holding before split
Divide the number by 5 and multiplied with 2
That is the number of "free" units u get
Just add on to your holdings
No need assign NAV price to it...
*
Because I need to re-cal the average unit price after the split. sad.gif

Your cost DIVIDE new total no. of units will be your avg price post-split lor

No need bother with the split calculation

Maybe your tracking worksheet different from mine unsure.gif

Hair is precious...don't lose too much of them laugh.gif

Distributions, splits, bonus issues, all those will mess up the average cost per unit calculation
That's why I gave up, I only track total profit/(loss) and IRR nowadays, too much numbers and % which may not help at all rclxub.gif
*
I used the wrong ratio.

That's why everything wrong!

The ratio I used is 2/5 (2:5)

LOL

ok, so basically now its 2:5 ratio now..
but still i dont understand why the loss of 30%

sorry boss for disturbing you  smile.gif
*
Understand what is unit split first.

Then flip back few pages back on how the NAV has been adjusted after the unit split exercise as I have asked on this question.

You're seeing a loss of 30% because the NEW units after the split exercise hasn't credited to your account.

Thank you and goodbye!
