Hi sifus so i have been trying soft99 meta clean for some time and i realise the car wax have really really bad durability  sweat.gif  before 7 days already the wax all gone  doh.gif it is posibble due to i never clay before wax ?  laugh.gif  anyway any car wax tat is durable can recommend  icon_rolleyes.gif  icon_question.gif

You can test the paint for ingrained dirt by running your fingers inside a thin plastic bag over the washed surface. You don't need to clay that often especially if you've been polishing weekly with meta clean. A paint sealant product like duragloss/optiseal etc is probably what are looking for which will last longer than waxes.

which product? before you guys apply coating , what product do you guys use for removing the oils after polishing?

Collinite 845, 476 or FK1000p (search for seller waregem in garage sales) are well known and reputed for being long lasting. I bought FK1000 and am running an ongoing test with it to see how well and long it lasts. Duragloss 105 is also good but their local website has trouble and I forgot where their shop is.

According to collinite in terms of durability, 476>845>915.
I got the FK1000 because 476 was out of stock but it was probably for the better since it was real easy to apply and buff.

I thought I remembered the durability ranking wrongly so I rechecked Colinite's FAQ smile.gif
It's the paste waxes that lasts longer, 476>915>845 .
FK1000 is quite a fun wax to use, it's has 'character' to it. Try layering it if you haven't, it provides a 'candy shell' look to it which Colly don't provide. Very good for light colors.
On one observation, the 476 seems to last slightly longer than FK1000 on one coat. This is not conclusive though haha!
*
You're right about 915 being mored durable than 845.
How long did you let the FK1000p sit after buffing for another layer?, googling showed a few threads which recommended 24hrs which too long for me.

There are many reviews about reload if you google, its a good and durable sealant product. Claying will remove waxes and degrade sealants. Finer claybars will be more gentle on sealants but I do not have enough experience (yet) to say how much.
Where did you get reload from?

I've used carpro reload, yes clay will definitely remove it. heck, durability wise it is no where near Sonax BSD, and being that premium of a price, i don't think it's worth it.

megs UQW in the gallon would easily own it on value too.
*
How long did Reload last? Did you get the real thing? There was a Korean imitation version after the inventor fell out with his Korean supplier. BSD is quite new and some people underestimate the durability of BSD because it is advertised as a detailer and not as a sealant.

Is there any place else to buy BSD other than the Shah Alam office?

i got the real thing from Autorage Singapore, Feel free to question them.
personally it only lasted maybe 1-2 months, or less, similar durability with megs UQW, but few times the pricing.

It's really meant as a topper for their cquartz coating so yeah.

Maybe can check out stores like Tesco/Aeon/Eneos/Autobacs that carry Sonax products.
*
I'm not questioning anyone, I just stated a possibility. And there was are several versions of reload, there was a new improved 2014 version and the most current 2014 v2 (aka 2015) version. The 2014 version had a small 2014 sticker on the label. Both the newer versions showed better durability compared to the older version.

Those stores don't carry many Sonax products especially the higher end ones. Tesco/Aeon around Subang/Shah Alam might have only 2-3 products or nothing from Sonax.

Reload *was* my fav topper for a while until Sonax came out with BSD...better performance and better value.
....

Better performance as in better durability or protection/both? Against the 2014/2015 versions?

Any recommendation for a pre-sealant polish thats not too hard to get? I need a light polish to remove swirls and reduce/remove light scratches without adding oils/silicone like Autoglym SRP. Would Mothers pre-wax cleaner/pure polish be suitable or some other product? Megs UP is said to darken the paint so it probably adds a layer of something. Sonax's paint cleaner polish also adds "Nano wax particles" to fill in scratches.

My current fav pre-sealant/pre-coating paint cleaner/light polish or when I just need to do some very light corrections - Dodo Juice Supernatural Micro Prime. I was told that it can also achieve more cutting if combined with a more aggressive pad and working it longer, but I haven't tried it yet. Before this, I love using Megs Deep Crystal Step 1 Paint Cleaner for deep cleaning and light corrections. Unfortunately, it's been discontinued and can't find one anymore. I think the equivalent would be Mothers Pre Wax Cleanter Step 1, but I haven't tried it before though. Sonax Premium Class Paint/Lack Cleaner is also quite decent, though I find it to be a tad bit 'oily'.

Btw, you're working with a DA or rotary? Regardless, if you don't have any reservations ($$$), I would highly recommend DDJ Supernatural Micro Prime.
*
I doing polishing/waxing by hand and don't have a DA/rotary. I'll look out for the Sonax paint cleaner, from the description and video, it looks like what I'm looking for (along with Mothers pure polish).

I wouldn't know where to get Dodo juice products except through Autorage shipped from Singapore.

What product are you looking at? An all in one polish/wax? Car shampoos? Have you googled and read faqs/stickies?

If your new car is under 1yr and the paintwork is still very good then you might just need a washing then claying + light polish before waxing. A fast and easy to apply spray on wax like optimum car wax, sonax bsd, duragloss 105 would last for about a month or longer, BSD is reputed to be more durable (garaged/shaded cars will keep waxes/sealants longer). A weekly wash would be all that is needed to keep it reasonably clean, plus claying/polishing several times a year (or less/more depending on how much contaminants your car picks up) before waxing or applying a sealant every month or so.

So its cheap to DIY to keep the paintwork looking quite good and you don't need to spend much money or time. You can splurge for the expensive polishes/waxes and spend time layering product after product often but thats for people who want the best looking result and have time and money to spare as a hobby.

If you want to spend about RM2-4k, theres coatings that would protect your car/suv for a few years at least... but I'll let more knowledgeable members talk about them.

A quick way would be to use autosol if your lights aren't too bad. It got rid of the yellowish tint on quite easily when I used it. It doesn't look perfect but it looks really good from what it was before. Have to use a protectant of some sort afterwards tho like a sealant, polyurethane etc.

Hi Guys,
Are there any specific polish that you guys can recommend for black car?

I am using Soft99 and Meguiars Ultimate Quik Wax but I still find swirl marks sad.gif (though I'm not sure if its micro scratch marks from the foam pad).

I used a Foam to apply the Polish then buffed it with a micro fibre cloth.
......
I don't think having a black car would make any difference in the choice of exterior care products or polishing/waxing technique except for the fact that swirls appear more easily to the eye for a black car.
Not cleaning/claying the car sufficiently before polishing could cause swirls.

Hmm...
Maybe a budget around RM200?

What can I get from it? Just want my car to be clean and glossy  blush.gif

The higher price for some products can be deceptive. RM100 for a big can of FK1000p, Collinite 476/885 will seem to last forever since very little is needed and will be better value than say Turtlewax hardshell wax(which is also cheap and ok) if you calculate cost/application. PG polymer sealant looks ok for a cheap sealant.

To wash and clean - Permaglass/Formalhero car wash detergent and PG/soft99 claybar. Some people just use (clean) soapy water for claybar lube instead of detailing spray. Get a few microfiber cloths and a mitt.
To polish - find some cheap pre-wax polish like Mothers pure polish instead of an all-in-one polish which will screw up your sealant lsp or spray on.

Spray on sealants are very useful and worth the extra cost since they are so quick and easy to apply. I use polishes and traditionally applied sealants like FK1000p/Collinite only several times a year now and spray on products the rest of the time. Spray ons are products like Sonax Brilliant shine detailer, Duragloss #105, Optiseal, Carpro Reload, Formalhero silicon sealant.

Someone who tried out the Formalhero spray on-

i mantain polishing and waxing every now and then all done by myself and even tried once detailing outside but it just seems that there will be tough dirt sticking on the clear coat or the wax i dont really know whats that called but i would really like to know what are the products that could prevent dirt from sticking on to my paint so that i dont really need to polish every 1month or so. AFAIK the normal suggested period for polishing and waxing should b around 3mths once if im not wrong hmm

anyhow, i washes my car every week whether rain or shine, using meguiars ultimate detailer and ultimate quik wax after drying up the car. but still, there will be black dirt stain after 1 week or 2 after polishing and waxing, what to do?   doh.gif
*
Meguiars ultimate quik detailer is not a polish. You use for a quick touch up or to clean some dirty spots on a fully waxed car or as clay lube but the normal non-ultimate quik detailer is cheaper as clay lube. Use a claybar first and ultimate compound or ultimate polish for polish if you want to stick with Meguiars. Maybe your car's paint still has some dirt which needs removing by claying/polishing and the wax isn't sticking well enough because of the dirt.

There is no right or wrong
It can be
.....
wash > clay + detailer > wax > Sealant

Since sealants are typically more durable than waxes, it seems like a waste of time to apply sealant on top of a wax instead of the other way around.
