my case is confirmed distributor problem.. my foreman swapped the distributor and the engine can start up fine.  so i just bought the distributor (2nd hand).  heavy price for my engine cleaning lesson  cry.gif need to wrap the whole damn distributor and not just the plug cap area as i did.

by the time i read your advise on opening up the distributor and spray with WD40 (or contact cleaner better?), i've already changed the distributor.  so..  now i got a possible saveable denso distributor laying around for my experiment and learning..

btw, already a few days didn't check-in in this thread, looks like everyone is onto sealant/coating  blink.gif  unsure.gif
*
shouldn't be too hasty on the replacement, old engines parts like distributor may get wonky upon some water that managed to seep through the seals, but once they are dry, they just continue working.

and as per my previous pictures, i seriously didn't bother covering up the distributor.
if it f***s up, i just wait longer/manually dry it (dismantling the unit etc)

i've done engine washing with pretty much same methods on the kancil/iswara/nissan sentra

with the exception of Osren (and maybe a few others that i just couldn't recall), it's shits like this that i absolutely detest and just don't bother even trying them.

My guts told me to go with the RM600.00 but my wallet tells me otherwise.

I really like the RM600.00 guy though cause he seems to have a lot of insights with Honda paints where else Kevin from Maximus is just your common "not too bad" detailers.
The previous detailer basically takes an axe and hack my paint =(
*
personally, id go with the rm600 guy.

if you haven't know already, detailing isn't cheap as it's pretty much an "art" to most people especially to those that appreciate it.

in fact, even in malaysia, a car wash can cost 2-3k (just wash, cleaning, no polish wax lol) from a very renowned detailer wink.gif

hence most people (especially in this thread) prefer to DIY even if it means risk of f***ing up their own car.
Malaysians are *GENERALLY* cheapskates lol.

To all Rupes Bigfoot owner here, what pads do you all use for polishing? Rupes one or Lake Country?

i personally hate the rupes pads.

the LC's/Buff n shine worked much better for me.

Which LC pad you use? Flat, CCS, CP or other types?

Btw, you got the LHR15 or the 21 version?
*
both lc/bns are flats.

i got the lhr21 instead, insane throws/orbit rofl
damn awesome on huge flat panels, an absolute pain around curves/narrow spots.

Awesome haha. So I guess it's true that even with huge throw dual action motion, the machine is real breeze to handle with very minimal vibration?
*
for flat panels yeah.
the irony is that the rupes stock pads were supposed to me more balanced, however i find the lc/bns pads to be easier/less vibrations.

I know that detailing a car isn't a simple job. Moreover, a car with black color paint job (like moi). I feel the pain even by trying to wipe dry my car after a car wash. Sometimes, it just seems like no matter how many times i wipe, it appears that it's not perfectly wiped and then the more you try to wipe it, the patches of water gets even bigger *sigh*.

Basically, I just killed myself by purchasing this Crystal Black Pearl thinking that it's easier to take care than other bright colors. Should have stick with Tafetta White back then, at least, it's not that obvious =(

Yeah, I think i'll go with the RM600 guy too. He seems to be more well verse and I think i'll be more rest assured if my car is in his hands. I rather spent that extra RM300.00 than to cry later on irreparable damage on the paint job. I can always earn back that differential sum but if my car paint go kaput then the cost of having the entire car repaint is well...  sad.gif

By the way, the RM600.00 guy is from Detalien, Sunway Damansara Tech Park. JK Tan attended to me. Heard of any poor reviews on him?

Actually I also prefer to DIY but staying in a condominium really hinders me from doing so. Not only with the lack of proper lighting source but the lack of power source. The nearest power socket is about 15 parking lots away.

black car, so what? i drive a black car also.

That obsidian mirror finish, black hole (ooohh those poorboy glaze lol) is always a treat to gaze upon.

since you seem ignorant on colors, let me fill you in: white/black/any bright colors = hardest colors to take care of.
the best are either silver/gray/dull colors.
so the next time you're thinking of white, think again.

don't believe me? google around/search lyn forums laugh.gif

and oh Detalien folks are fine i guess.
some story/drama time to time, but when it comes to the actual detailing/workmanship i think everyone here can vouch for them nod.gif

Yeah, black colored car is amazing to look at when it's superbly well done. This has always been the case before this stupid detailer ruined my pain. I applied Sonax BSD though on monhtly basis and it always seems to give it that very shiny. Attached is a picture before it got ruined =(

I drove a white colored Gen.2 before i switch to my City but i don't remember at all the hassle involved in maintaining but may because of the quality of the pain is different. It looks great after every car wash but of course, those dreadful black streaks after rains but other than that, nothing much.

That's why my impression on white cars are still great but after listening to your opinion, i think i'll get darker colors from now on =(
*
i'm actually surprised you got into cheap detailing hack jobs when you have access/used Sonax BSD sweat.gif
my assumption is that you're probably somewhat knowledgeable in detailing and would avoid cheap service/shops like a plague.

our road film/dust/dirt (and you even mentioned black streaks) are in what color? the car is white right? damn nice canvas to "paint" on laugh.gif

Personally I agree with Krismas, if you are going to have a single Bigfoot machine, the LHR15 is more versatile as you can polish smaller and curvy areas like bumpers easily.
I have the LHR21, and I rather get the LHR15 instead.

Hi, sifus!

I need help with something....
I just recently got into the hobby of car detailing, and after 2 weeks of experimenting on my car I realized my windshield has a lot of tiny white dots on it. They're not stone chips as I've tried to run my finger nail across them and they look like they're from inside the windshield.

I tried to take a photo but my camera couldn't catch the tiny white dots, so it's useless. ><

Does anyone here have any idea what those white dots might be?
I'm afraid it's because I didn't clay before applying sealant on the windshield. sad.gif

try to look carefully. it could be microscopic air pockets beginning to form from bad tinting/aged tinting smile.gif

I'll just do some guesswork here until you have a good look at it again. But, my best guess is, those are pin holes size pitting caused by small grits, most probably sand particles, frm frequent high speed driving (highway, etc). I'm also guessing that the Glaco u're using is either acidic (which in actual fact not a bad thing and normal for a windscreen cleaner/protectant) and reacted with the laminated glass or some sort of polish that left some residue inside those 'pin holes'. You might not have noticed it before this because those pittings are 'empty' but now, since it's 'filled' with something they became more obvious. Check frm inside, up close, it would look something like minute stone chip, darker since the whitish stain are only on the outer top surface. 'Speed Hunters' should be quite familiar with this....what say you Quazacolt?
*
LCTho85

fully agree.
although on my opinion, instead of sand particles, considering the car is second hand, it could be small craters developed from frequent highway and/or speeding.

if the windscreen is maintain clean at all times, you will be seeing it a LOT.
chances are it was previously caked in dirt/grime etc so it wasn't obvious until you clean/wash it all off, exposing the "craters" which you most likely can feel from fingers/nail. (as you also mentioned scraping them with nails)

other than that, pretty much agree on the rest with you as well thumbup.gif

and yes my car started having it's first few craters within the first month.
moving forward today as it's around 10-11 month ownership, the entire windscreen is filled with it and i stop giving a f*** laugh.gif
i'm grateful enough that there's no crack lines that require actual repair work/filling or worse, entire replacement sweat.gif

Hi sifus ...

I just realised there were scratchers on my car bumper last week .. so sad.

I tried to remove using Meguiars UC , with sponge by hand , but the pinkish wont dissapear . Is this a paint from my base coat car bumper or from the thing that it was scratched ?

I bought the ezytouch up combo kit :  do i need to remove the pinkish scratched first before I apply the touch up paint ? Or just use a sand paper to remove it ?

Thanks bros
*
does it feel like a crater already? if yes then you're down to the base coat or even bare plastic (since that's the bumper)

only can touch up via eztouchup if that's the case, then level it with compounding/polishing as best as you can.

IT IS, factory paintwork is better due to the temperature baked in. And that's why you learn detailing (some sort of how to prolong or keep your factory paintwork as long as you can).

Unless really some rather high end professional paintshop that will strip everything from your car to repaint and bake at such high temperature, else really your plastic panels would not survive.
*
realistically, no paint shops will do that as it won't be easy to remove EVERYTHING (including windscreen etc) from your car to allow for high temperature baking.

so yea, factory paintwork ftw thumbup.gif
