Thanks for the info, that's what I thought at first and wanted to get the orange LC and test, since i'm new to this, don't wanna get paint burn. Lucky I didn't take up the wool type.

Pads that I have at the moment is, purple, white & black.

@ roxx, saw a video before in osren FB, using eraser, but not sure was it removing polish or othersĀ  biggrin.gif .

Hi,

Depending on which type of orange cutting pad and machine (DA or rotary), it's probably easier to work with Purple Foamed Wool.
If the pad is extra dense and firm, it will produce more heat than the PFW while cutting and still achieve less cut.
I had cut paint of the car while the area was only slightly warm using the orange pad because it didn't 'glide' over a small kink of the car. The rotary was running at 900RPM.

So personally, I won't use the orange pad with a rotary but I'll use it with a DA smile.gif

According to collinite in terms of durability, 476>845>915.
I got the FK1000 because 476 was out of stock but it was probably for the better since it was real easy to apply and buff.
*
I thought I remembered the durability ranking wrongly so I rechecked Colinite's FAQ smile.gif
It's the paste waxes that lasts longer, 476>915>845 .
FK1000 is quite a fun wax to use, it's has 'character' to it. Try layering it if you haven't, it provides a 'candy shell' look to it which Colly don't provide. Very good for light colors.
On one observation, the 476 seems to last slightly longer than FK1000 on one coat. This is not conclusive though haha!

You're right about 915 being mored durable than 845.
How long did you let the FK1000p sit after buffing for another layer?, googling  showed a few threads which recommended 24hrs which too long for me.
*
I tried after 24 hours, and I feel it hasn't cured enough to accept another layer. The application was 'sticky' and it seems like I was rubbing away the first layer.
I tried three days later and it was alright. Water beading and sheeting is improved with multiple layers, but I stopped at three layers smile.gif

Hello to all the experience sifu's here. I'm thinking of getting my car coated / polish but am unsure of where to send it to and how much it may cost. I know of the following places only:

1. JGlaze which does Nano Glass Coating
2. G Guard and their Platinum Coatings
3. AutoDetailer

To be frank, I'm not so sure what to look for as long as they get the job done (Wash, Clay Bar Wash, Masking, Polishing, Coating, etc.)

If you know of any good places around Subang Jaya, Glenmarie, Sunway or Shah Alam, please recommend! Kindly state the price as well. Thinking of doing it after my car reaches 1 years old. Maybe earlier?

Thank you for your help!

You can try contacting the guys at Autobarn located in PJ. They have a Facebook page where you can contact them directly. I know them personally and they are good at their work and commitment.

Just wanna share that the HD Orbital pads are pretty good, better than the Rupes pads in terms of retaining its shape and durability of its Velcro.
It also seem to lessen the vibrations when paired with regular DA machines.

Hi all,
Any review on the AutoGlym Extra Gloss Protection? How about the durability of this product?

Thanks!
*
Hi,

Wow this is like a blast from the past for me smile.gif
Apply very thinly or it will require more effort to buff off.
It has a balanced look to it, not plastic-like. Contains a bit of carnauba.
You probably can get about 2 months from a single layer, and it definitely likes to be layered for longer durability and water sheeting ability. Have at least 24 hours between each layers.
This is one overlooked product, and pairs well with Super Resin Polish beforehand.

Or better be this Portable Hand Pump Water tank;

Care to shed some lights sifu.

Yup, get this portable hand pump is better.
I have the Killaspray and it's still going strong despite degreasing duties. I think other brands are available and the good ones will cost more than RM100 to store around 3 litres.

If you are planning to wash once every fortnight, you might be better off using ONRW only. The extra wax should provide better protection between washes. It depends on the driving environment also.

Pre-soaking is important for rinse-less washing as it will soften dirt before you remove it.

Does Meguairs make 5.5" pads? Because the Bosch machine is 5", so I am guessing that using 5.5" pads would be ideal? As for LYN here got sell, where ar? I tried looking at Garage sales, but cannot find.
*
Hi,

Meg's recently has their foam disc family of pads and they are made for DA use. I have the 5.5" pads.
You can contact www.meguiarsdirect.com.my/

These are slim profile pads, hence the 'foam disc' label.

Goes to show how long I've been away from the scene......hahaha....

Since when did Megs came out with those smaller pads? And they're available locally now? How's the price like?
*
Haha at least you know now smile.gif
I think it was early this year when Meg's release these pads. Locally, maybe 3 months back.
If I'm not mistaken, the pads are retailing at RM84 each.

Yes, it's 5".
The actual size is slightly larger than that, but the difference is minor.

Hi

Anyone used cloth based clay before? I think under Optimum brand..thanks
*
Yup, but got mine from Osren.
The newer version is softer and it's possible to clay the car with very minimal marring left behind if any. It is also effective and I recommend it.
I haven't use a clay bar for years now, I only use it on very dirty cars where I use the clay bar and discard it because it's just not safe to be utilized anymore.

Cause recently my friend white car using meguiars ultimate wax paste it will become yellowish whereas turtle ice wax the beading is good but too oil it make the car stick a lot off dust when come to washing part the dust I stick with the wax and hard to remove until need to use the soft 99 :-( so guys any recommended product to use for wax or should I go to sealant ?
*
Did you prepare the paintwork (clay and polish) for waxing?
As for TW ICE, it sounds like the product is over applied. Also, TW ICE is a sealant, despite its name.

My 1 year old car is red and due to recent months of downpour and me not being around to wash/clean it, it has quite a lot of watermarks. Any good suggestions on how to remove these watermarks?

My plan is to buy a Bosch GEX125-1AE ROB Sander with a LC 5.5" Orange Pad and Meguair's Watermark Remover.

Any thoughts on this?
*
If you like to learn and DIY detailing, it's an OK start.
Watermarks might be easy to remove, but water etching requires actual paint correction (polishing) and you might need a more powerful machine+pads+compound combo to remove them. It also depends on the hardness of the paintwork and how deep the etching is.

nope just applying only

You have your answers to the current situation of yellowing and dust collecting.
Try at least claying the paintwork before waxing, the results and performance of any wax/sealant will improve.

Hi guys,

I have a tafetta white ride. Planning to do so called detailing on my new car, now it aged 1 monts, probably going to do the so called detailing on CNY holiday at parents place. So this is step that I will take;
0. Presoak the car using EZ Jet Water Cannon soap dispenser.
1. Wash - please advise me one good wash solution for white car, probably want to strip off the predelivery wax (notice this by whitish residue on door lining rubber), had Glo dishwasher liquid in mind. But the dilution ratio bother me, is it the rule of thumb of 1oz for a gallon be ideal for this application? As for wash media, which one is ideal for this thorough wash? I have Opti-Mitt, Microfiber Chenille Wash Block (Sponge Wrap with Microfiber Chenille from AEON), Microfiber Towels or Sheepskin Wash Mitt? Will use 2 bucket method with Grit Guard in the rinse bucket.
2. Dry - Might blot using synthetic chamois, clear the remaining water using Cobra Supreme Guzzler Waffle Weave Towel.
3. Clay - 3M El Cheapo clay or Permaglass Clay Bar lubricate with QD(8Oz per Gallon) dilution of ONR.
3. Rinse with water
4. Dry - Might blot using synthetic chamois, clear the remaining water using Cobra Supreme Guzzler Waffle Weave Towel.
5. Seal - This is the one that need you guys advise, I'm not looking for expensive sealant such as Opti-seal, CQuartz or the likes. Maybe Perma Glass Polymer Sealant or should I opt for Soft99 Fusso Coat, the discussion can be read Soft 99 Fusso Coat - what a wax !?

Soft99 Fusso Coat
Hi there,

Go easy on the stuffs from the start, then slowly add the goodies smile.gif
To dry your car after a wash, you don't need to use different types of cloths. Use a good one absorbent microfibre from the start and you probably don't bother with the rest.
The Fusso wax will be more durable than the Permaglass. Please note that Permaglass sealant is actually an All-In-One as it cleans and protects your car. Generally AIOs have short durability.
If you have the time and the budget, polish the paintwork before waxing, you should see better results.
