No coating there guys....CD2 Engine Detailer. And the pictures were taken after just a spray with Megs SD + rinse (no brushing, scrubbing, etc.), and the CD2 applied (after a thorough cleaning, of course) a couple of months (or so) before that.

do i need to cover the whole alternator? and how about the alternator belting? this belting is the only visible belting to me when i roughly check. so how do i know if this belting need grease? so i've to cover it up if i'm going to use a Degreaser to clean?

efaceninja Do not have to be so afraid. If you ever pay attention to some of the service center, they just directly use a high pressure water gun, spray water to the engine bay, without any sort of covering. It is not a cautious practice and definitely not mean to be encouraging, but just to assure you that often you will be fine.

i already had watched this video, infact, already subscribe to that channel lols.Drive clean and Ammo NYC. so i'm scaring myself too much??
to me its like bumgy jump.. i know if everything setup properly, it is probably safe. but no matter how much you convince me, i would never take that jump lols. Until i'm super certain that i would survive.

efaceninja, doesn't look like there's much to cover there. But, just for extra precautions, personally I would use some aluminium foil to cover those sockets with exposed (coloured) wire.

Belting don't use grease so no need to cover. But the alternator...well...if you're going to use a degreaser then better not let the degreaser enter the alternator. Water is ok but not degreaser. Again, not much danger but just to be extra safe la.

And the rest, I think you're good to go and about time too before it gets even dirtier and harder to clean.... tongue.gif

Hi guys, I need some help and guidance.

I was meant to apply touch up paint to some spots on my car just now, but I accidentally applied too much, hence I used a cloth to rub it away, THEN i begin to realize that the area that I just rubbed is fading and become blurry (like the pic below).

My car is just one year old, please help and tell me how I can restore it??

[attachmentid=4124290][attachmentid=4124291]
*
looks like the solvent from the touch-up paint spreaded too large area by your action of rubbing it. the solvent slowly dissolve a tiny patch/layer, but it is visible to eye already.

suddenly reminded of mr bean's movie, the part where he try to rub off the pen ink from the million dollar painting using thinner. lesson learnt here, when need to rub off excess touch up paint, need to spray with many water and wipe with wet cloth to ensure the paint/solvent is too diluted to dissolve other parts of the car paint??

as to how to restore, i got zero experience lols. refer to the above sifus.

Nice.. Good job bro..

I still no courage to clean my engine..
*
i think your concern is still quite valid. one of my friend ask me: Hyundai not going to void your warranty ah? i was like.. err... i don't think car manufacturer wants/allow their customer to spray water onto engine bay? which also leads me into thinking, what if i wanna wash prius's engine bay? prius C? Jazz Hybrid? Nissan Leaf? (wait, Leaf got engine bay?? i also not sure haha)

just need to pay more attention and time on properly wrapping those suspicious wire connectors. i think my wrapping still kind of sloopy lols. my determining factor on which wire to wrap is, wrap those wire which seems can trap water in their own socket.

Sifus, to clean fabric seats without extractor or steamer, can i do the following:

1. lightly spray the fabric cleaner/APC directly on the fabric seats.
2. brush the seat
3. wipe with damp MF cloth.
4. lightly spray water on the seat
5. wipe with damp MF cloth
6. wipe with/press blob with dry cloth
7. leave car in sun to dry off

is it advisable to spray the product directly onto the seats? because without extractor, a little bit of APC will always be left over right? looking at TW's fabric cleaner advertisement, it just spray right on top of the fabric seats, brush, and wipe away. although it is a foaming type product.

I can volunteer to test them if you want tongue.gif

I'm just a hobbyist/enthusiast with no associations what-so-ever with any brands. I'm always eager to try out new products (especially the 3M new silver packagings lines) and interested to see whether 3M had made any progress with their products after Meguiars takeover.....

If you intend to use the APC, when you're done, I would suggest you use a wet/dry vacuum to 'extract' as much water as possible FROM UNDERNEATH THE FABRIC before drying. Under those fabrics are sponges that tends to hold water, and you know how difficult it is for sponges to get totally dry.

If you don't have a wet/dry vacuum, I'd suggest you use those type of fabric cleaner in aerosol can that foam, much like the one in the video you posted. These 'foam' is 'dryer', much of it would stay on the surface and doesn't penetrate *much* into the fabric. It also won't leave the fabric too wet and doesn't contain much water to extract. I've used the 3M Scotchbrite Fabric cleaner and it worked very well. Stubborn stain required a few rounds of cleaning but, in term of drying time, just need a few hours under our scorching sun.

Oh...if you still want to use APC, might I suggest you remove the seats when doing them so that you can leave them DIRECTLY under the sun for drying...more effective that way.
*
hmmm... hmm.gif so foam type fabric cleaner is more recommended ah. ok ok.. but i think i'll try with APC first with one of my seat. because really want to cut some expenditure for these moment first haha. maybe i'll take a stand fan, put it right beside the seat, and full blast it to aide drying. and also try to put under sun as long as i can. hmm.gif hmm.gif remove the seats sounds so... difficult? i mean, i didn't go and study how to remove one.

Am using Armor All carpet&upholstery cleaner foam and for me its easy to use..

Spray armor all foam on fabric
Leave about 1 minute
Agitate with soft brush
Wipe residue with MF

From my experienced, STP Tuff Stuff cleans faster than armorall even though from the same company.. My personal opinion only ya..

As what master krismas inform about *penetration* I agree on that.. Take about couple of hours to dry..

Another thing master krismas, I went to 2 AceHardware outlets (MV/Ikano) but still couldnt find dawn power dissolver.. doh.gif
*
so i've 3 product to lookout for in future. TW's, 3M Scotchbrite Fabric cleaner, Armor All carpet&upholstery cleaner foam.

Question:
On claying, do you guys:
1) Partition the new clay into many small pieces (like 10), each piece for a panel or an area, after done, throw them away.
2) Split to half, or 1/3, then use this partition clay the whole car, along the process keep knitting the clay to reveal a clean side. Once done, store the clay to be re-used next time. Only throw away after visual inspection indicates not possible to knit to a clean side.
3) Same as (2) but instead of store it, throw it away, just use for one time, for sake of absolute safety.
4) Others more creative practice?
*
poorfag here go with no. 2. sad.gif
after the 1/2 or 1/3 portion have been reused a few times on paint, looks dirty already, then will use it to clay rim first. after clay a few rim and really totally cannot tahan the dirtiness already, only then throw..

rclxms.gif rclxms.gif rclxms.gif niceee onee! noticed you didn't even the alternator. so you spray the SD (1:10?) on the alternator and also brush it?? you didn't took photo while the engine is still dry and dirty.. also you took a leave just to wash engine bay ah? your mum must be very happy lols (that's if, she understand & appreciate a clean engine lols)

and the painting brush you bought, how is it? you think is good or just normal usable for this engine cleaning purpose?? cause i just bought 1 brush just now also haha. not paint brush. also since you're using some hyper dressing, hopefully you can update back few days later or next week see if got gathered dust already haha

just now went to AceHardware and bought this brush. the bristle felt like the same material with the Osren's brush. but i forgot to ask how much was Osren's brush last time, so i just buy this only. RM 12.90. i intend to use for wheel, engine bay, interior.. the bristle length is about 2".

also bought a piece of MF cloth which is ultra super plush and soft and very very nice to touch. intended to use for drying car. i know it reads 'Face Towel'.. but.. it is MF and its really soft so i think its safe to paint as well? hmm.gif

then, seeing that my current car is going to relocate to a condo's parking lot (no car wash bay, no pipe, no water nose, no running water, no nothing) for a very long period of time, went on and bought a bottle of TW Rinse Free Wash & Wax. Got 20% discount on this item rclxms.gif icon_idea.gif rclxm9.gif , bought from AEON.
