QUOTE(ReWeR @ Aug 27 2014, 10:57 AM) in democratic countries, rakyat can ruled out the leader every few years. you don't get that in monarchy. Yes. So I guess our government must be very clean and amanah, that's why they've been running this country for 50+ year. Long Live Democracy!!!

Long Live Democracy!!! we are pointing at the different things. what I meant is the overall system usability, what you meant is looking for system that cannot be exploited. any system can be misused and exploited. Our PMs had worked very hard to make sure our vote system doesn't represent us, so it is pointless to discredit the system just because it is being exploited.

QUOTE(hippihippo @ Aug 27 2014, 01:40 PM) Are you suggesting that Malaysia goes absolute monarchy? I'm not. I'm replying to the implication that monarchy is the cause of the problem. I'm saying regardless of what system is being used, if the person(s) on the top is corrupted, he/she will find ways. That's all.

In fact that was my point when I replied to the other member's post. Instead of blaming the problems on the system, blame it on the person(s) instead. No system so far have been manipulation-proof. Btw, there are ways to overthrow a bad king, it's just a matter of how much the people under his rule wants it or rather how much bad are they willing to take until it gets better again. For most people, they'd rather be a fat cat living in a cage being fed delicious food than the skinny cat free to roam anywhere they please.
