Q1: What is Seasons?

Seasons is a new game mode introduced to Diablo III that allows you to relive the leveling experience of your character to reap new rewards such as season-only legendaries, special transmogs and other bonuses. You will have to start from scratch, that means:
  • Seasonal stash and storage is separate from Normal (you have nothing in your Seasonal stash)
  • Artisans are also separate from Normal (they start from level 1)
You will however not be given additional character slots to participate in Seasons.

Q2: What are the requirements to join a Season?

You need to create a new character whenever a Season starts. When creating the new character, check the box where it says Seasonal Hero and your character will be available for play during that season.

Q3: Is there a Hardcore mode for Seasons?

Yes there is.

Q4: What's so great about Seasons? Why should I play it?

Seasons gives players a couple of benefits, namely:
  • Your chance at unlocking an additional stash tab (once per Season)
  • Exclusive transmog (the look of your gear) upon reaching level 70 with a Seasonal Hero (per Season)
  • Gain new cosmetic rewards such as Paragon Portrait, pets, wings, banners, etc.
  • Unlocking Season-exclusive Achievements
  • Earn yourself in a place on the Seasonal Leaderboard (leaderboard for class, etc.)
Also, all progress you gain from Seasons will roll over to Normal servers. What this means is that all XP and gold gained from your character(s) on Seasons will be added into your Normal account. Gears and loot found from your Seasonal Hero(es) will remain on them and those stored in your Seasonal stash will be mailed to you.

Q5: I want to play my normal characters, can I do that?

Yes. At any time, you can play your Seasonal Hero as well as your Normal Hero. Any progress made between these 2 characters are separate and saves accordingly in their respective servers.

Q6: When does a Season start?

You can find the most updated Season duration from here.

Current Season: 24
Duration of Season: July 23, 2021 8:00 a.m. - Dec 6, 2021, 9.00 a.m.

Q7: Do I need to create a new account to participate in Seasons?

No. You only need 1 account for this.

Q8: May I have another player with Normal hero play with my Season hero?

No. Seasonal Heroes may only interact with other Seasonal Heroes.

Q9: What happens to my Seasonal Hero(es) when a new Season starts?

Your previous Seasonal Hero(es) will become non-Seasonal hero(es). To participate in the on-going Season, you have to create a new Seasonal Hero or select a non-Seasonal hero and click Rebirth to turn it into a Seasonal hero.

Rebirthed heroes will have their equipment and items in the Seasonal Stash mailed to you. Any non-Seasonal hero will be able to retrieve them. Also note that if you do not retrieve those items within 30 days since that hero's rebirth, it will disappear.

Q10: Can I create a Seasonal character if I only have Diablo III and not the expansion(s)?

Yes, you may create Seasonal characters when a current Season is on but you may not be able to fulfill certain achievements such as Seasonal Achievements, Seasonal Conquests and Seasonal Journey.

Q11: Will I be able to participate in the Seasonal achievements if I only had the base game (Diablo III)?

Unfortunately, you will not be able to participate in the Seasonal achievements, at least not all of them. Some of these achievements require you to complete them in Adventure Mode (Rifts, GRifts, Bounties, etc.), which is not available to those without the expansion(s).

Q12: How about Seasonal Journey?

Like the achievements, you will only be able to complete them if you have access to Adventure Mode, which is currently not available without the expansion(s). Seasonal Journey is similar to a to-do list that unlocks rewards such as new portrait frames, vanity pets and even extra stash tab spaces.

Q13: How many times may I redeem Haedrig's Gift?

You may redeem a total of 3 Haedrig's Gift per Season when achieving specific Seasonal Journey's task, which will be delivered to you by mail. Click on the mail to redeem each of them. Note that they can be unlocked by any characters during that Season, and counts as 1 redemption across both Softcore and Hardcore modes.

Q14: What happens when a Season ends?

When a Season ends, a few things happen:
  • Your Seasonal Hero(es) become Non-Seasonal
  • Your Experience earned throughout the Season gets added into the Non-Seasonal Paragon Levels
  • Items in your Seasonal Stash will be mailed to you, which is available to claim within 30 days from when the Season ends. Not claiming within that time frame will have those items disappear permanently
  • All extracted powers during Seasonal will also transfer to Non-Seasonal
  • You can no longer participate in any Seasonal Achievement or Seasonal Journey
  • If you started the game with your first character in Seasonal without completing Story Mode, you have to complete Story Mode to unlock Adventure Mode

any idea how to obtain the seasonal leg?
it drop automatically or need to loot from monster?
*
You can only obtain seasonal legendaries when you have an active seasonal character made. So long as you have a slot when that said season becomes active, you can make a character. However, the seasonal-only loot becomes available in the main servers (non-Seasonal servers, default ones) after the season ends.

Seasonal legendaries are like any loot, they drop from mobs. So in short, you'd still have to go through RNG for them to drop as well.

Seasons are said to last from 2 to 3 months per season, but that could change from time to time by Blizzard.

Last day tomorrow at work, then I'll be able to give my Seasonal DH some love smile.gif

It's only at lvl 13-ish, I think, and doing story mode - right after putting the soul of poor Leoric to rest.

Q9: What happens to my Seasonal Hero(es) when a new Season starts?

Your previous Seasonal Hero(es) will become non-Seasonal hero(es). To participate in the on-going Season, you have to create a new Seasonal Hero.

I mean, is the rollover immediate or after maintenance?

The same as when Season 1 ends. IIRC, characters become non-Season as soon seasons end. As for mailing of equips, not sure.

For those who love cosmetic and miscellaneous stuff, Season 3 will be a good reason for you to participate. As you will be rewarded with:

A Pennant after achieving 100 Achievement Points in Season 3. It's like a war flag sticking at the back of your character.

A Paragon Portrait after achieving 410 Achievement Points (it's suppose to be 400, but there was a bug that only rewards you after achieving 410) in Season 3. It's a variant look to the other available Paragon Portraits you've already unlocked.

So pick up the pace and join the race!

Thinking about purchasing D3. Can vanilla play seasons? Or it need RoS?

Edit: nevermind, found the answer

Sorry for the late reply, I hope this help cover some of your concerns for D3V's Seasonal experience:

1. Can I create a Seasonal character if I only have Diablo III and not the expansion(s)?

Yes, you may create Seasonal characters when a current Season is on.

2. Will I be able to participate in the Seasonal achievements as well?

Unfortunately, you will not be able to participate in the Seasonal achievements, at least not all of them. Some of these achievements require you to complete them in Adventure Mode (Rifts, GRifts, Bounties, etc.), which is not available to those without the expansion(s).

3. How about Seasonal Journey?

Like the achievements, you will only be able to complete them if you have access to Adventure Mode, which is currently not available without the expansion(s).
