From wat i saw yday nt a game to blame the defenders. They limited chances n got their clean sheet. Yes i saw a number of long balls to d fwd lines but i also saw how limited d midfielders gv in terms of options to pass and u cant expect a defender taking a risk dribbling out of trouble. D key was mata not being able to link up and find space to supply rooney/rvp. Can c d difference d difference wit di maria who is willing to run at defenders to find space for himself to create chance.

1 more thing if given d choice i'd try groom blacket to b a better player than relying on smalling. He still looks raw but d willingness to bring balls out of defence and passing range is not bad.

We have got plenty of talent in the center but didn't try to build up from there, when simple short pass will do it was looked like more fancy to not doing that    RvP seemed unfit, always looked to move forward with ball even the situation was difficult and his team mates had better position behind him, Rooney.. well playing static RvP and Rooney in 3-5-2 together will make the strikers are easy to defend against, adding the fact it was Mata played behind them.

At least, we could see more of Rooney and Welbeck combination upfront which did well during pre-season. When Welbeck got injured, the system wasn't as fluid. With Hernandez rumoured departure, we could see more of Janujaz/Wilson upfront. Especially Janujaz, not as RWB. Sigh.

Midfield and defense are the most problematic parts now. Midfield performance in our 4 games so far has been giving everyone heart problems, and the defense is not much better in terms of confidence.

Kagawa and Chicharito both out means -2 squad players who could not nail or seriously challenge for a starting spot. Hopefully more of this happens (trim down the squad player size) and we get the midfield and defense sorted.

RVP surgery thing is just a rumor so far? Could be nonsense? Even if it is true look at alternatives namely Rooney, Welbeck (loaned out?) and Wilson. Could just lead to us swapping to play 1 striker while RVP is out (since that would allow more players in defense/midfield). We got a fair amount of attacking midfielders, and since we only have domestic games this season (now left EPL and FA Cup only) we should be ok.
