QUOTE(dwRK @ Jul 24 2010, 04:59 PM) What bit rates do you all use? Why not higher/lower? I've gone the full range. Without a HDTV I can't tell much on my sd60... Recording bitrate on camera or output bitrate from render?

dwRK, ahh i see. that's nice. I always grade my footage hence smart rendering is outta the window for me! Always shooting at 21-24mbps AVCHD on the panny.
kaspersky-fan, you might want to avoid objects passing thru the frame horizontally which are in close range. The rolling shutter makes it look funny!

used to edit with intermediate in CS4. now proxy over CS5, cuz i worked out a workflow which enables mobile editing without copying files back and forth to the laptop. Final touchups will be on the native mts files. CS5 has excellent handling over the AVCHD format.
I want a new rig too! Haha, maybe just a new graphic card at least. I want to take advantage of the Mercury Playback Engine via hardware. Currently via software on CS5, but still faster than CS4!

QUOTE(lynbabysusu @ Nov 18 2011, 10:37 AM) Hi! My dad has been an avid video cam user for more than umpteen years, last few years he finally let go of his final cassette video cam and bought his first vid cam that uses harddisc, although it was HD,of course it can't be compared with cassette quality,so he's pretty disappointed and reluctant to use it. We thought maybe changing one. Any good one? Price <3000,a really HD one, durability best >5 years. Help us to help you. What camera did your dad buy? And it sparks my curiosity on which HD cam does worst than Mini VHS, Video8, Hi8 or Digital8. Unless the cassette video cam used miniDV tapes. Added on December 20, 2011, 11:48 amJust a heads up if anyone's looking for a video camera to buy, I'm selling off my Panasonic HMC152 with some extras! http://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?act=ST&f=226&t=2156593This post has been edited by FuGZ: Dec 20 2011, 11:48 AM
